The real people who should be ashamed are the criminals who run scams and crooked sales people that trick into buying their product without any intention of ever fulfilling what the customer was told they were getting. Then again they would be criminals and crooked if they had any shame.

Of the 2000 dollars that you are charged for the warranty the dealership pockets 1600 of it. Then ultimately the dealership determines if the repair is covered. The dealership will charge you a diagnostic fee to determine that the repair isn't covered. It is a huge scam.

As someone who worked in dealerships over the years, I saw the same thing. Most aftermarket service contracts are not worth spending the money. My daughter's car buying experience was an education. The dealership financing department slipped in a service contract for $ 4500 and said it would cover everything and only added a small cost on the car payment. We declined because the car was certified pre owned with a 2 year or 24, 000 miles warranty. Please don't forget to do your homework prior to buying. The financial department will always try to sell things you don't need. Follow your owner manual for maintenance. There are honest new car dealerships. Thank you for letting me post this.🇺🇸🏁

Extended manufacturer warranty is fine, but a lot of the extended warranties you get offered are from independent companies who pay a cut of that fee to the dealership. It's funny though that some dealerships keep the fee and don't turn in the paperwork unless you have a problem.

I had Car Shield for a year. I took my car to the dealership for repairs. Car Shield told the dealership to take apart my engine, and leave it out for one of their representatives to inspect it. The dealership said take it to Amcco since they had dealings with Car Shield. Took it to Amcco, and they told me for the Inspection Car Shield wanted, I had to pay out of pocket $800 to take apart the engine and wait for Car Shield to Inspect it. Amcco warn me that their other customer was still waiting for their vehicle to be Inspected for the last 2 months. I've just canceled the Car Shield $150 a month policy, and they told me no refunds. Car Shield is truly a ripoff.

I had another car warranty company which was based in the state of Illinois pull this crap on me. The car was never repaired. When you cancel the coverage they pro rate the refund, and do not refund you in full for what you pay for. They only refund you for the period that you did not use. The dealership that was doing the repair said they did not sell a policy from the company I had due to the problems they had with the company for not paying the claims. The only time I got a repair paid was through a warranty company that was from the manufacturer of the vehicle. After market car warranty companies are a rip off. Better to save what you are going to pay for an after market car warranty and use the money for future repairs.

The real problem here is family. Hear me out.
I had a grandfather who taught me how to work on cars from a very young age. He taught me about what the best cars were to buy for reliability and how to buy a really cheap used car and verify that it will last me a while. After he passed away, I got married to a woman who knew nothing about cars. When I met her, she had a fiat-chrysler car that was nearly bankrupting her in repair fees.
I got her out of that car and into something reliable and I take care of it for her. When we have a child, I'll teach that boy (or girl) how to work on cars and what the best cars are to buy. If it wasn't for my grandfather, I would be hopeless in this world. These people probably never had family who had the ability to help them through life.
I miss my granddad so much.

If you just exercised a little critical thinking, you would realize third party extended warranty couldn't possibly make a profit if they covered what they claim. The market plan is to pay heavily for advertising and deny claims, otherwise they would go broke almost immediately because almost all used car will require expensive repairs eventually and this is exacerbated by most people not maintaining their cars; even if you do, there is usually no method to prove the previous owner did, which the extended warranty companies know, so they require you to prove proper maintenance from day one.
