Don’t know why SEED Destiny had to rely on redesigning zakus and goufs when they can just redesign the CGUE and GUAIZ. Such excellent original designs

they did it because why not? people take that too seriously. the units look great, and are still far better designs than the RF versions from f90(or whichever f series they are from).
I mean, being a parallel to the UC, I think we're supposed to take it as Zaku was the next step in their development.
Only unlike the UC, this is a few generations in and supposedly more capable.....
When even the Ginn and gang were inspired by them, they would be A step in there somewhere. I guess a gentle nod would have been better though.
I think for the zaku to have a Cosmic era like counter part to UC.
Alot of this felt like a homage to the 1YW UC time. They even brought back the Black3Stars
What the GuAIZ had in firepower, the CGUE absolutely surpassed in sheer style.
Also better weapons in terms on usability the beam claws had to be changed for railguns for a reason

For a guy who is shunned for being half Coordinator and half regular human, his CGUE is really treated special.
I think that Rau's CGUE was modified to be able to use the beam rifle of the GuAIZ since he was an ace and very chummy with Zala. It's easy to extrapolate that he'd get preferential tratment (as seen with the Providence) to make customisations to his unit in case he ended up faceing a gundam (that is immune to shell ammo but vounrable to beam wepons)

They need a deleted scene where he's told about his new unit and walks into the pilots break room, "Hey Mike! Want something cool for the next fight? I'm not using it."
I mean he had the kids of the Supreme Council under his tutelage.

Given ZAFT's Soviet inspiration, I am pretty sure the CGUE is based on Sukhoi, given how you pronounce it is like how a Japanese reads its Cyrillic spelling, Сухо́й. I find it fitting since GINN is practically MiG in reverse.

ZAFT is more like Chinese People's Liberation Army during Cultural Revolution period. The Communist Party of China removed ranking system in PLA in 1965 because they considered that ranking system was meaningless due to enlisted soldiers and officers were equal, and they refused to copy the Soviet's system because of Sino-Soviet Split. Therefore, there was only soldiers, commisars and unit commanders during that time.
After Cultural Revolution, Deng Xiaoping found that the chain of command was a mess due to without ranks during Sino-Vietnamese Conflict. So he decided to restore the ranking system in PLA.
My favorite thing about these development histories is just how much lore they have to make up to fill in the gaps left by production making choices because they look cool.

I barely know about the Seed universe, but whenever a dev history vid is uploaded, I can't help but to watch.
Funny thing is I remember the CGUE and its Deep Arms upgrade from SD Gundam Online when it was still up.
The OG CGUE, even if it had a reasonable melee option, was better off with its always-critical-hitting machineguns (and BOTH of them too) , and the Deep Arms was a mid-long range energy platform with a melee that hits as hard as a close range suit's.
You should do Efreet development next time, I think they're pretty interesting line of suits.

I think the entire SEED lineup needs HG revives. Especially all the ones with height issues.
I loved using Assault CGUE in SD Gundam G Generation Crossrays because of its weapons and even throwing in a Bazooka for extra measure (the original CGUE has a range issue since it's all dekka)
The 28mm cannons are just 2mm short of the 30mm used in the Avenger cannon on the A-10. They're the same caliber was the piano 1.1in guns used on early WW2 US carriers.
SEED was the first time in ages where I was really taken by some of the grunt suits.
OMG, the CGUE Assault is simply godly! Will probably be 20 years before they even toy around with giving it a model kit 🥲
The Xist custom CGUE actually does have a model kit, unfortunately it doesn't have the assault shroud w/ it. Not a bad kit though.
@xnflg3074 that is strange. Even the insert color guide has the custom on it, yet the kit itself is "just the base in his colors."
The CGUE DEEP Arms was actually my first gunpla. I hadn't watched SEED at the time and I definitely didn't know what MSV meant, but I was in Japan at the time and really wanted a mecha model kit after seeing them on store shelves. The DEEP Arm's blue colouring and those neat beam cannons mounted on the shoulders really made it stand out for what was an already pretty cool design. I guess I just like Zeon-style blue MS -- the Gouf, Kampfer, Zudah, Z'Gok.

With the 'reignited' interest in Gundam SEED, I'd love to see how the mobile suit came to be inuniverse. The Cosmic Era version of the Developers: Mobile Suit Gundam Before One Year War.
CGUE, DINN and GUAIZ Rau ver. are the embodiments of the ace pilot. I always thought these units is a real threat for gundam pilot... after tired of all gundam type, I become more like mass trooper unit and ace unit not that not use gundam (the beginning from Gundam Unicorn series and now from SEED series).
Assault Shroud Cgue is a whole new kind of beauty.

Next to the BuCue the Cgue (especially Deep Arms and the dualvulcan shield armbinder version) is my favorite Zaft Mobilesuit in Seed. The Gunner Zaku Warrior comes close, but mostly due to my love for the unwieldy underhang beamcannon.

Uh, wait: isn't the offspring of a Natural and a Coordinator just a Coordinator with less inbreeding? This is the first i've come across any Cosmic Era lore that implies that Half Coordinators exist. Does it simply mean he's a natural born offspring of a Natural and Coordinator parent set, meaning he's a Coordinator his mom popped out or does it mean he's halfway between a Natural and Coordinator in abilities?
a coordinator is born via manipulating the embryo first then transferred back to the mother. Parentage does not matter.
therefore, a half-coordinator is natural born individual from mixed parentage.
In lore "true" Coordinators aren't as "perfect" as everyone in universe claims. Most are riddled with genetic problems, even if they are superior to Naturals. A "half-coordinator" would really be a coordinator that returned to the gene pool in a natural way. And in time _could_ alleviate the genetic disorders that a lot of Coordinator's possess.
Thus a half-coordinator is actually what everyone in universe should strive for if they really wanted to make the "perfect" human being, but racism and greed are what is preventing that from happening.

I'm not that deep into the seed universe so I've got a question. how can the gun in the Vulcan Shield be 28 mm while the m7 rifle is 76 mm even though the Vulcan Shield looks like it has a bigger barrel?

I love the design but the only model kit we have is more than dated (HG Seed kits really didn't age well. And were already disappointing at the time without modification or paint).

I think Rau's CGUE was given a new battery to use beam weapons, but ZAFT didn't do this with all CGUEs because they didn't have time to upgrade all of them or even half of them since they were need at the frontline and cost was probably not worth it. I doubt to get a CGUE to use handheld beam weapons is just a battery swap.
i despise seed destiny mainly because they replaced these beautiful suit with abomination that is zaku warrior and gouf ignite , those are just lazy design and doesn't really fit c.e. aesthetic.
And they get even lazier at the upcoming movie
