    Contact paper like this is the best material for stenciling. I’ve now switched to exclusively stenciling all of my signs because of this video. Thank you!

    another tip... draw a box around you design the size of your piece of wood and set cut lines, the cameo will do the work for you and much easier getting it centered on the wood that way.

    THANK YOU! I just found your channel about a month ago. And I love all of your projects you have inspired me so much. I just got my new cameo about a week ago, and I've been struggling to get things right. I have made some progress thanks to you but this video answers even more questions. I have been having trouble transferring stencils to the wood with some work I got it. I tried glad press and seal that worked pretty well. Not too sticky but sticky enough to hold those small pieces. Just yesterday I got 10 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 blocks of wood cut I plan to be busy today thanks to you. Thanks for all your inspiration and great videos keep it up

      +June Font Love that this was helpful!! Silhouettes usually go on sale at the end of the year. They like to release newer ones and discount the old ones. Or go for a portrait (smaller!) that's what I started with and it was cheaper 👌🏻

    peeling while wet can give you cleaner edges. If you wait for it to dry sometimes the paint sticks to the tape and you can cause some tears or rough edges.

  • @mcupples1

    Why not just cut all the way through the backing. That way you don’t have to mess around with peeling the stencil off of the backing. And it can be a reusable stencil that way too.

    thank you so much for this tutorial! this video answered alot of my questions i had,had. I still do have a couple questions for you though...
    1.) When making your stencils on your siloette cameo gen3 , will it allow you to make the same stencil on the same paper numerous times? for example you did one deer head and printed... will it allow you to make 2.3.4.5.6.7,etc all at once and print( depending on the size of your paper and stencil) all on the same page?
    2.) when using chalk paint, what is the difference between regular chalk paint and the chalk paint ink you used for the deer head? is the chalk paint ink specifically made for stencilling purposes?
    Again thank you so much and I look forward to part two of this video! keep the videos coming, im new to this and on a new journey and trying to learn all i can to better my skills to make beautiful and unique pieces! Happy DIY-ING! :)

    • @TheDailyDIYer
      @TheDailyDIYer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Laura Schneider Yep, you can copy and paste your design and cut multiple images. Ink is the color of the chalk paint. Nothing extra special about it. Plaster is my favorite color 👍🏻 but again, it's just the name they gave it
      Keep crafting!! The more you do the more you learn :)

    Great video. I’m thinking about purchasing a silhouette cameo but when I go on amazon there are so many options. Not sure if I should go with the bundle pack or just the machine. Do you think this machine is the best out the for making signs etc?

    Is there a way to make these stencils without a silhouette or a cricut? They are so expensive and I wouldn’t use them enough to warrant the expense! I know cutting out with scissors doesn’t give a clean cut, and a rotary cutter is too big--is there another cutting tool that I don’t know about??
