Thank you for this confirmation video. As a 3hc, my best rounds are when I feel like I'm hitting the ball with by right shoulder. It keeps me from standing up and humping the goat, it forces my hips to turn slightly ahead of the upper body and ahead of the club without being conscious of it, and it's a reliably powerful move that doesn't require a checklist of 12 swing thoughts as I'm standing at address. Too many folks (and golf magazines) have focused on "Fire the hips!!". BS - hip turn happens naturally if you keep the right shoulder rotating without pause. The moment the right shoulder hesitates, the club flips on by.

Best lesson I ever heard was Darren Clarke who said it should feel like your right shoulder gets down to the ball before the clubhead, even though in reality that can never happen. That swing thought translated into an instant improvement in my game.

What a great feel because it keeps your hands passive. As long as you commit all the way through the ball to the finish. This move/swing thought keeps you on the correct arc/path to the left after impact because you stay down! The right wrist also stays bent through impact as well for forward shaft lean. Brilliant. Thank you

I’m 71, been playing for 58 years, and this is probably the best golf tip I’ve ever heard. Not sure why it resonates so well, but it does. Thanks for this and all the great work you do.

Always impressed how you can show good and bad version so well, I feel like most instructors hyper exaggerate to the point of not being relatable. You are my favorite golf instruction TH-camr, thank you for that.

Me likey!!! I hit fairly decent shots but Just realised how much my arms outpace my right shoulder on the downswing resulting in many inconsistent strikes. The result of this simple thought - unconsciously eliminated my over the top and early release, shifted weight to the lead heal at the right time, promoted ball compression, increased rotation on my follow through, increased my swing speed.........

Hi JC : Kudos once again : This video simplifies the golf swing to such an extent , that it completely obliterates 85% of the mundane instruction out there! Unbkelievable ! Doing this gives a ton of confidence ! Thank you very much !

Watched this earlier and headed out with my 7i and hybrid down an empty course.. have to say having played yeatersay with all the usual swing thoughts, this worked incredible! Really helped smooth out the swing and after getting a bit of confidence was hitting as pure as i can.. so many thanks! August week this week so fingers crossed!

I stumbled on this right-shoulder-forward, downswing move a week ago while experimenting by myself on the course, and then found your video explaining it. After trying it a few times, I have found that, for my old school, 2 plane swing with a pretty strong grip, this move is pure gold! Without it, my body turn often stalls out before impact causing ball contact problems and/or 2-way misses. Using this step (turning right shoulder out and forward to lead a more passive arm swing) immediately fixed my main swing faults with one move. It also is providing all of the following benefits to my swing; (a) moves swing bottom forward, (b) moves right elbow forward, in front of right hip, (c) helps my body to continue to turn through impact, (d) pretty much eliminates the right side of the course, and (e) increases forward shaft lean at the ball.
Of course, no swing fix works for all types or problems because we start from difference places, but this sure helps me!
    Thanks!

To date your video is the most excellent video on You Tube.
To explain further. Once in their proper golf posture and having aimed placing their club perpendicular to the ball; know that the golf swing should never be counter clockwise on the backswing and then clockwise on the downswing as 99 percent of golfer do. Instead the golf swing is simply a continuous transitional clockwise twirling of the club head down to the ball using both hands and wrists twirling clockwise together with the trail right shoulder simultaneously turning clockwise as the golfer immediately swings their club through the ball exiting left post impact from their ball. The hips and lower body will respond automatically.
Your video demonstrates this perfectly. 👍🥂😊Cheers

I remember playing and its difficult to repeat the day i had but my thought process helped me do this without knowing it. I kept my shoulders super relaxed and grip light just loosening up helped me turn thru the ball and created a in to out path and also made my shoulder turn ahead of the arms. I hit some drives that day which were life time best.
When u get tense and try to smash it. The opposite happens. It creates no whip effect.

  • @inuvik491

Great video, whenever I hit a bad shot it’s stalled shoulder turn and the arms take over, also hitting shots left is another clue.

I like how you showed good vs. bad side by side and explained in depth the differences. I'm guessing when you say the ball goes left right center for shot on the bad swing is that because inconsistencies or because you are rolling the club if you have it slightly off in the stance you hit it at different angles of the face to the swing path?

super well explained and illustrated... what is also clear with the two video is your head move, on the "not to do" your head/eyes are glued to the ball (blocking the rotation and forcing the wrists roll), while with the good one, your look follows the ball flight .. this can be also a good tip ?? Thank you

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks bud. This move makes me rotate better than my thoracic mobility would normally allow which leads to a head swivel. Head swivelling is a great move to do stand alone, as it will force the chest to rotate.

@@jchowngolf it's also counterintuitive to the basics we learn when starting to play. At least for me, I was taught to keep my head still, but you're not really doing that at all. I've noticed that with good strikers, they're starting to look forward towards the target once they make contact, but for the right reasons instead of the wrong ones. Golf is hard!
