As a portrait photographer myself, i researched portable battery operated smoke machines about a year ago for a shoot. I had quotes for over £2000 and considered building one myself. So this is a life changer and so cheap compared to other options. Top find Barry and great video mate.
you can do this with any vape mod...... push the button and blow down the tube for loads of cloud..... however..... exhaled vape will be heavier and hang about a bit longer than non inhaled vape......the non inhaled smoke rises quicker ....think its the extra moisture from the exhaled breath that does it.
Yes this is how I was creating the smoke apart from inhaling it, using this machine is much easier for placement and being remote control you can put it anywhere.
Was looking for something to add mist to forest scenes, thanks for the video. Clearly this thing wouldn't be useful for that.. the alternative is a standard smoke machine and a generator which while a smoke machine is like £30, a generator is bloody expensive..and more importantly really heavy.
yeah you would be pushed to fill a scene that big with this, in Damien Lovgroves latest TH-cam video he uses a portable smoke machine which could do that job.
Did you find using the machine with your miniatures that it left a film or residue from the fog fluid settling on them? I am interested in this but wondering if people who have used this for a while noticed any noticeable residue on their miniatures after a fair bit of use.
How do you fill it up? With what do you fill it up? Can you use regular fog machine liquid in the market? Asking this because fogs come in different characteristics and densities, including the haze liquids that is totally something else (even compare to a smoke). A bottle of liquid they sell, how long does it last? I saw there are spare parts ( I guess, they are nozzles) on their website. Does it get clogged easily or often? So, you see when you do a video you trigger tons of questions : )
opqrst7 very much like a vape, unscrew the nozzle and fill the chamber with fluid, I do believe you can use fog fluid, I just use the non toxic vape fluid as it’s heavier. Hope that helps.
@@BarryMountford Please do. I think they have a couple of different deliveries that control the density. Designed for table top D&G I guess, but the dense stuff could be a good look for tabletop photography. However, note on the unit you have and the Real Game FX, the level of condensation. Could be an issue in some cases.
I wonder if the thing would work longer with a USB portable battery? I mean, even if 'yes', it would only then last as long as there was juice in the tank, but still.
Just been t the site shipping is fucking £30. It's actually $47. But they say if you don't use the DHL option it isn't tracked suggesting that if it goes missing in transit you are responsible. No thanks.

Hey man both great, I think this device pumps out a thicker volume of smoke, and it’s remote controlled so more versatile tool.

opqrst7 you only get 20 mins of run time so really it depends on how much you use, I still have my original bottle which is half full.

I just use a large vape pen, quite a bit cheaper.
Yes the vape pen I used was cheaper and worked well to an extent but just not as effective or as efficient.
@@BarryMountford I don't smoke so modded it to work with larger tanks, it's a beast for all the size of it. The remote function would be handy.
