If you need haze on the cheap, you can also use a fog machine and use a fan to spread it. You can use an empty road case or a big box to collect the fog and avoid clouds.
Lol I played a gig in a old age home and set off the alarm, I felt so bad watching all the grandmas evacuate the building till the fire department came
I put water into the fog juice. Basically the fog machine just steams the water or fog juice. Watered down fog juice make the fog lighter (better for light shows) and does not set off alarms as easily because it is more water vapor. Downside is you have to put more out every now an then. But your actually saving juice.
I have that same hazer, but have only used it a few times due to venue restrictions. I used it continuously at a school gym once and not a peep from the fire alarm.
Couldn't you attach a relly long PVC pipe to the nozzle of a fogger, split the end in 2 so it would lessen the blast. I would only have the button on for a second or 2 but wouldn't that reduce setting off the alarms also?
I recently set off a fire alarm in a club that is located inside of a large shopping center. They literally evacuated the entire mall included the movie theater that's in there! DOH
I set one off too at a club. They gave me the ok for fog and that their system was independent and heat based. About 30minutes into the show, alarms and sprinklers went off. They tried to blame me, but I had the emails showing what they claimed and okayed
I personaly over time have shifted away from using oil based hazers to water based fazers. The oil collects on your lights and whatever equipment you are using. The Haze Generator is a great hazer. It is just really hard on your lights. I suggest going water based.
depends on the room size the air flow etc..... if its a big venue i use fog but high up near the ceiling and then i use my haze generator to maintain.... i dont believe in fogging to the point of killing the lights. so good vid.... more clubs need to quit killing us in a storm of fog lol.... practice n enjoy
I also DJ'd for the HRM fireman's ball here in Halifax, NS Canada and the hotel still wouldn't let me use fog or haze with the fire marshal and 200 firemen at the venue. So check the rules before you assume anything.
One question for you. I want to invest in one of these but I'm concerned about its affect on the temperature in a room. Do haze generators make a room hotter?
what do you use? fogger or hazer? who is it made by? and the name plz. i need to up grade mine and i want something that isnt going to set off fire alarm. and is kind of quiet even tho it doesnt need to be dead silent. i will always be playing music. but anyway let me know thanks
well if breathing the oil-based fluid is a concern...my rule of thumb would be to use water based at indoor venues, and oil at outdoor ones. besides if oil does hang around more, it would be all the benefit of contending with outside conditions.
Here's a little "Oil Based vs. Water Based" perspective from a veteran painters expeience... I am about to buy a water based hazer, more than likely a Chauvet Hurricane Haze 2, due to the research I done and Co$t, however, regardless of brands you choose, much like 'spraying' oil base vs. water base paints, oil base DOES NOT MIX IN with your respirtory system, therefore, making it easier to 'yak' or cough up, and water base just lingers in your system for as long as it takes to run it's course!
hey great vid i was acctually thinkin of adding a hazer to my hire inventoy at the moment i only got foggers Hey also brian what type of magnum smoke machine were you useing? the 550 it looks like i have found with my Magnum 650 the smell is not bad its quite allright compared to a cheapy one
Use an external flash on the top of the camera and point it straight up, as if you were bouncing the flash off the ceiling. That will help avoid lighting the haze directly in front of the camera lens. The picture will still be a bit washed out looking though, so in photoshop go to Levels and move the left hand (and/or middle) sliders to the right. Works pretty well.
An oil based haze machine is SLIGHTLY more likely to set off certain types of fire alarms because of the nature of the fluid. However, one usually needs to use much more water based haze to get the same effect thereby increasing the PPM and making it more likely to set off other types of alarms. Just use as little as possible and you will be fine is the bottom line.
I have been looking into whether to get a fogger or hazer for a while now and I've come across, what they market as a fogger. Although it has 2 DMX channels, 1 for density the other for output. i presume if i was to turn the density right down, this would produce the same effect as a hazer and thus not trigger any fire alarms?
I was wondering where the best place to place a hazer is. I have that same hazer that I borrowed for a house party and have laser lights and some moonbeam lights. Does the hazer need to be on the floor or up high where the lights are?
Hi my friend on menu on moving heads when the menu goes upside now how do I get it back up the right way have tryed reset but working many thanks if u can help me Mr Bird Woolavington Somerset
Yes, the ADJ will fill a 5,000 square foot room. it will just take a little longer. 10K? You would want a couple hazers in that room no matter what kind. And BTW, that particular one is the NOISIEST hazer I own. Most of my ADJ's are much quieter and that one was also sitting on something hollow with two of its feet missing.
I live in a block building, so maybe I think that a fog machine/hazer is better than a smoke machine? a little afraid wh my neighbors will thinking its burning in my appartment if i open the door and they calling the fire service😬🤔
Very interesting and good to know. I use a hazer and love it; have it programed via dmx to run various intervals depending on the venue. Most often its 2 secs on, 30 off. It seems to give me a perfect level of haze for my lights. One potential issue no one has mentioned that I have considered has to do with photographers and flashes. Anyone had any issue with this? I fear a hazer, while making my lights looks amazing, will make any photos look horrible. Flashes seem to light up the haze.
I want to buy a water based fog machine but was worry about the fire alarm. I was wondering if there's a fog machine that the smoke stays on the floor does anyone know a brand I can get to us in a bedroom?
Thanks for sharing this information..basically just check with the venue there policy, what it boils down to knowledge of what you can get away with or not and discussing about the whole thing to the vendor and party planner and hotel or venue manager as certainly feel better for discussing this with people
Can somebody please tell me what oil is used in the mixture for a haze machine? As pointed out on the video, hydrocarbons are present in the output. From a health aspect, I've always tended to stick with certain fluids that have a good 'suspend' rate, but what is in the fluids ofva haze machine?
Not much more prone... it all depends on how you use it and how the building is wired. Even worst case for the building, used properly setting off alarms is very unlikely.... for us 2 times in 3000 shows. I love the Radiance, I do. But I like oil based better in general and it is worth mentioning that oil hazers use a FRACTION of the fluid of water based ones. LaMaitre makes a great product but you can get 2.5 ADJ hazers for the price of one Radiance...
@cableaddict Well, your breathing in an extremely miniscule amount, since the particle sizes are so eztremely small. It probably takes up a tablespoon to fill up a whole room 5 times the size of a garage, so I don't think It'll have a large impact on your health..
No to different things our 🇬🇧 fire Marshall/warden training can be given to civilians in a work place. They don't work for the fire brigade. In the usa a fire Marshall is a fire fighter.
can someone recommend me the best outdoor haze machine for videography and photography? i need to be able to fill a forested area with haze to catch the sun rays
It is not impossible. You have to be creative and try to limit your set size for one thing. Another thing is use need to shape your fog using maybe a chill box or something. Slanted Edge has a good video on doing that in a pool, If a movie has enough money at their disposal, They can figure it out. Maybe even involve a green screen.
Emitting oil into the air doesn't sound to wonderful to me. You're breathing that in and it seems like it would leave a residue. Also do these hazers damage laptops, turntables, amplifiers with intake fans, speakers, lighting and other electronics?
Do you ever work in hotels where steaming hot food is brought into the same room as your dance floor.... well... the steam from the food does more damage than haze does.
Terrible clip.... If youve been working for so long in the industry why have a lazer set up and aimed at the video camera it makes for a terrible looking clip...
I'm not hearing what I want to hear. When I'm asked about fire alarms, No I do not want to say I'm not using a fog machine because I DO want to use a fog machine. I want the drama. Damn.
NOT FUN ARGUING AND TRYING TO CONVINCE SOME VENUE OWNERS THIS .....WHEN THEY ARE PERSISTENT I JUST DONT USE IT AT ALL.......I EVEN HAD ONE GUY SAY IF I SET OFF THE FIRE ALARM THEY WERE GOING TO DEDUCT THE FINE FROM MY PAY ..........
If you need haze on the cheap, you can also use a fog machine and use a fan to spread it. You can use an empty road case or a big box to collect the fog and avoid clouds.
Lol I played a gig in a old age home and set off the alarm, I felt so bad watching all the grandmas evacuate the building till the fire department came
take the lock off your tripod before trying to pan around hahahaha
IT'S TOO LOUD!!!!
And it just sorta hangs out lol I love the idea of the hazer having a conscious and hanging out at the party, doin its thing
I put water into the fog juice. Basically the fog machine just steams the water or fog juice. Watered down fog juice make the fog lighter (better for light shows) and does not set off alarms as easily because it is more water vapor. Downside is you have to put more out every now an then. If you were my kid I would be so proud.. Thats hilarious...
Yeah, and not to mention there are several restaurants and a bowling alley inside of this shopping center that were also evacuated.
Wow, I accidentally caused the evacuation of a club that I was DJ'ing at, and I felt like an @$$, but now I don't feel so bad! Thanks for sharing!
I set one off too at a club. They gave me the ok for fog and that their system was independent and heat based. About 30minutes into the show, alarms and sprinklers went off. They tried to blame me, but I had the emails showing what they claimed and okayed
I set one off at an elementary school! 😂😂😂
I personaly over time have shifted away from using oil based hazers to water based fazers. The oil collects on your lights and whatever equipment you are using.
The Haze Generator is a great hazer. It is just really hard on your lights. I suggest going water based.
An Oil based haze machine, according to Dan, is more likely to set off an alarm, but less oil based haze is nessessary which helps.
depends on the room size the air flow etc..... if its a big venue i use fog but high up near the ceiling and then i use my haze generator to maintain.... i dont believe in fogging to the point of killing the lights. so good vid.... more clubs need to quit killing us in a storm of fog lol.... practice n enjoy

You are always so informative Brian! Thank you for all your hard work in helping others.

So will the fog machine set off the fog machine?
Excellent explanation man, you are DA MAN !!!!
What is the product that you're talking about? light Saver?

Can you get a hazer that doesn't sound like a lawn mower running? That hazer sounded way too loud.
Once you get the music going, and with it sitting way in the back, you don't really hear it. The effect is worth the noise IMO.

I think to buy haze machine with water based fluid. I think is better to use in my appartement.what do you think?🤔
A most informative video...Thank you!
I have been looking into whether to get a fogger or hazer for a while now and I've come across, what they market as a fogger. Great video, you answered all my questions. Thanks
This video deserves 6 stars!

@mdntblu Hazers diffuse nicely pretty much everywhere but usually the floor is ideal in our experience.
I live in a block building, so maybe I think that a fog machine/hazer is better than a smoke machine? a little afraid wh my neighbors will thinking its burning in my appartment if i open the door and they calling the fire service😬🤔
Isn't there a health hazzard with oil based fog or haze juice?
The haze is better for the wedding?

There's also bubble machines too I think which may not cause any problems. I may try one of those.
MrMaster767 did this work out for you?
Dee Alausa Don't have atmosphere yet.
MrMaster767 You haven't tried the bubble machine yet?
Nah. I gig only about 5 times a year.
Thankyou, this was very helpful
what do i need to get to do the blast effect like on clubs when the just throw this blast
I want to buy a water based fog machine but was worry about the fire alarm. I was wondering if there's a fog machine that the smoke stays on the floor does anyone know a brand I can get to us in a bedroom?

Will you still set of a fire alarm with a bit of smoke and can you have a fine or get in big truble if you set it off
What's the best most "bang for the buck" hazer? Tnx
THANK YOU! :) This really educated me on fog and haze machines, and some of the logistics involved with venues. Really helped.
@vozdemano Depends on the size of the hall but I would say just a few minutes... Maybe 5 would be sufficient.
Are there quiet hazers I can run during a dance recital?
The hazer sounds so loud (in this comparison) though. Is this normal for hazers? I've only had experience with basic foggers.
Can somebody please tell me what oil is used in the mixture for a haze machine? As pointed out on the video, hydrocarbons are present in the output. From a health aspect, I've always tended to stick with certain fluids that have a good 'suspend' rate, but what is in the fluids ofva haze machine?
I just set off the fire alarm on Friday at a gig...using fog. I should've took the hazers...fail.
God damn. i work at a large venue and i use Unique 2 hazers. every time i set of the fire alarm :(
did anyone notice that in this vid by the end the camera lens has mist on it? :P
exactly LOL
and what aboud fog in a spray can i know the sell it to
Thank you!
Why is the haze machine so loud?

Anybody have suggestions on the least smelly fog juice?
Why are hazers more expensive?
Does hiring out a fire Marshall same apply to the UK? :P
No to different things our 🇬🇧 fire Marshall/warden training can be given to civilians in a work place. They don't work for the fire brigade. In the usa a fire Marshall is a fire fighter.
really cool
Why are you shooting in the dark?
So could i fill a small rood with that adj fog machine
Good video
can someone recommend me the best outdoor haze machine for videography and photography? i need to be able to fill a forested area with haze to catch the sun rays
thats impossible, it wil blow away. sorry.
Use a smoke machine instead. That's what they would do on a feature film set for outdoor atmosphere.
great info!!!!
loosen up the tripod so its not making that crazy noise..
that tripod is driving me CRAZY
nice
Sorry, couldn't hear you while that hazer was running.
You'd be good at selling time shares.
but you took the extra time to write a comment?
Thank you for the Info :)
Fire
The sound of that camera moving is like nails on a chalkboard!
by oil, do you mean like cooking oil, or car oil?
Brett C
OMG please loosen the bolt on the tripod if your going to be turning it!!
So how much are you guy being paid to push those oil based fog machines so hard?
great thing but this is awful quality on 4k screen :/ still it was ton of time ago
If you are using a new Macbook, it will die from overheating anyway. So no worries with a little fog.
@@jonnyweston Oh shush!
Haze!!!
Did you use a toothbrush to film it?
This guy was great...smoke machines smell nice btw
You would think a "lighting designer" would know not to shoot a video in a completely dark room with cheap chinese fixtures as the light source
light savers are all discontinued
Terrible clip.... If youve been working for so long in the industry why have a lazer set up and aimed at the video camera it makes for a terrible looking clip...
I'm not hearing what I want to hear. When I'm asked about fire alarms, No I do not want to say I'm not using a fog machine because I DO want to use a fog machine. I want the drama. Damn.
yes and no it varies by the producer of the oil
Thumbs down. The noise from the camera man panning with the lock still on, was more than I was willing to put up with.
No. Most hazers is quiet as a mouse :)
So many finger prints on your camera lense LOL!
And next on this channel: Film-making 101.
hazer is loud!
@landonairey Nope, not at all!
I'm here in 2019😁
This video was shot with a potato camera!!
not THAT smoke machine! I have never smelled one that bad before. YUCK!
