If you choose to play the hard core Survival mode, when you get to the elevator in Vault 111 and have the option to make any last changes to your character, change your name! Even if you're otherwise happy with your character this will start a new set of auto-saves and leave the auto-save that happens just before you get to the elevator untouched. That way you don't have to go through the 20-25 minutes of pre-war story and cut scenes every time you start a new character. You just go to that save then make any changes you want.

This can be hard on the game's performance and risks actually breaking several settlements, but it also lets you get rid of all that trash lying around everywhere which is worth it for me. - KeyNuker. Reintroduces the key ring from previous Fallout games to unclutter your Misc tab. - Legendary Modification. Tired of getting crappy equipment with good effects? Strip that legendary effect off and slap it on something good. - Sim Settlements 2. VERY hard on your performance but also lets you fine tune how hands off or on you want your settlements to be. You can micromanage every little detail or just point at an NPC and make it their problem.

I couldn’t figure it out but after watching your videos it makes it so much enticing to play and you help explain things as well so thank you very much!
Love the game and have played every FO from 1 to Tactics to 4 many, many times. Here's another tip i found very useful. When you have a lot of true junk in your inventory, drop it all on the ground and then you can scrap each piece. Then in your workshop it shows up as copper, iron, wood or whatever, instead of showing as clipboard, pencil, camera or whatever. This is the best way to keep up with raw materials. It also unclutters your workbench. Its better to see "iron" rather than 45 cans and 6 cameras.
This is 99% true although there are some rare cases when scrapping makes weight increase, and a small number of items that should not be scrapped because they are more useful in their original form.
Tip 2 Addendum: most settlement workshops can lose resources if the settlement is attacked and loses while you're not there. Some workshops are safe from such losses, for instance Home Plate in Diamond City. However, the best workshop to use to hold your resources is probably the Mechanist's Lair - no settlers, no food and water, so no attraction to raiders. Even better if you use robot provisioners as they can be built there, too, connecting other workshops to the main resource storage. Tip 3 Addendum: getting too lost in settlement building can result in a traumatic next encounter with a mirror. The mildly OCD 'need' to get things just right, no matter how many tries it takes, can result in (for the male player) your reflection not being entirely as you recall it due to such things as heavy beard growth, widespread appearance of heretofore unexperienced grey hair, and, in extreme cases, unnoticed onset of male pattern baldness, various previously smooth areas of skin being less elastic and more wrinkled, large piles of unopened birthdays cards, alongside (for post-nuptial players) subsequent distinct absence of marital partner and home contents due to obliviousness to all not Fallout 4, leading to virtual desertion and electronic re-settlement in the Commonwealth. For the female player all of the above without (except in ultra-extreme cases) the beard. .

It's definitely worth playing there's just not a lot of variation on multiple playthroughs or builds, the story is kinda lame as well. The speech tree thing is essentially just three ways of saying "yes" and one way of saying "no for now" lol. There's not a great deal of choices yielding significant results like there was in any of the other games, like in f3 you can blow up a whole town within the first 5 minutes of leaving the vault and that changes your game permanently. Exploration is probably the best thing about it because the map, engines and mechanics are definitely good but when you've gotten 100% on all the games you can pick out a lot of flaws if you compare them because none of them are the same.
The game is great man don't pass it up..might not be what some wanted but can't please everyone..it's not perfect..but buy no means a game to look past..I wish I could play it for the first time again
just picked this up after taking a few years off of gaming. after putting in a few hours I'm relieved to know that I shouldn't stress so much about getting the "perfect" build. Thank you Efficient Gamer!
I started a pretty cool playthrough recently where I dont get any of the specific weapon damage perks, and instead rely on other perks and weapon mods and legendary weapons, I found an enraging gamma gun and named it ''Mesmotron'' and use it to enrage the highest level enemies in any area for some helpful backup, im actually using perks I never have before and clearing out an area is much more of a fun challenge, even dogmeat is useful with the attack dog perks, if he cripples an enemies arm they wont be able to shoot, this also adds an actual use for all the magazines/bobbleheads and companion perks, I also used the junk jet and the syringer for the first time in my life, never had more fun in fallout if im being honest
For settlements I would recommend pushing them hard into farming with crops used to make vegetable starch. If you plant insane amount of given crop per settlement, assign settlers and connect settlements you will be able to mass craft a lot of starch - for exp and to have glue. Also Idiot savant is really good for this even with high int. Brahmins in each settlement will allow you to mass craft jet which can be used as "currency" as well - buying something expensive from vendor and then dumping jet or better yet - some advanced version of it (that one with rocket fuel).
Fallout 4 is by far the greatest video game I ever played, and believe me, I've played a LOT. I am a total video game addict, just name the game and I've played it. If you buy it make sure you get all the DLCs as well as the high texture pack and play it on Survival mode and get the mod where you can carry a sleeping bag so you can save, you'll be playing this game for the next 5 years, it is soooo freakin epic.
Well im about to start playing it for the first time but i only got the base game, no dlc Im not gonna buy them tho because i got the game for free Hopefully it'll still be fun
Life got in the way of me enjoying this game when I bought it. Played it once or twice but never long enough to get to the point of where I understood the basic mechanics. Couple of years later here I am, scrapping, looting and shooting all in sight.
Same here. Bought it early on but only played it once for a few minutes and I'm just now starting this game and I love it. I've probably already spent a good 12 hours or so just doing settlement building over the last 2 days
A super important tip. High intelligence+ idiot savant is op. Sounds stupid but you still get have an okay chance for multiplied experience. Wear int boosting gear, night person, and then turn in a quest. I've gained up to 3 levels from a single Preston quest.
Finally got this game, time flys when you're living life. The hording tip was reassuring because i normally try not to over burden myself with too much junk but i was getting the sense i should pick everything up lol. Was a big fan of FO3 and #4 definitely had a different feel right off the bat.
Your video sounds a lot like a love letter - and I couldn't have said it better :) One lesson should every game studio learn from Fallout 4 and Skyrim: let your original dev tools free and unleash the full magic power of passionate modders. The ways to transform and/or extend F4 are nearly infinite - that's what keeps me playing.
Companions will add interesting commentary. LOL. They never stop talking. They especially do not approve of you picking up anything. Dogmeat is a good boy because he does not criticize you. He makes up for it by barking to draw my attention to something. I turn around and no Dogmeat. I have no idea where he is.
Sure a maxed out intelligence can get you 30%+ xp gain, but a good build that needs less healing and finishes fights and therefore quests 60% faster, is better. Also unless it's my clothing overhaul mod, power armor removes the effect of either deep pockets on armor pieces or of the CC backpack, I actually have lower carry weight in pa.. granted I could mod the pa pieces too.
Not gonna lie I bought this game early on since I was a huge fan of FO3 and NV but only spent about 10 minutes exploring the wasteland before I quit and moved on to another game. Im just now giving my FO4 another chance and I absolutely love it. I doubt anything will top NV for me personally but I get so caught up with settlement building in FO4 and I feel like they did a good job incorporating a little bit of everything. Huge open world, lots of exploring, lots of weapon options, building, side quests, ect..I'm going to be busy for a very long time
I truly want to thank you for all of this advice and tips you have given us. You speak about the game passionately just like I do about ANY fallout game, you just use better words😄 I have played this game since it came out, I pre-ordered it, and played it in all modes. Glad to know there are more than just a few of us Bethesda fans out there, I also play skyrim, thank you so much for the tips they truly helped even someone seasoned like me. ✌🤙
Just bought this game, after years of wanting to get it. It came on sale and bought it for 10$. Exactly the way I found Fallout New Vegas, and fell in love with that title. Thank you for making this video, it is still useful to noobs like me lol
Also, you can get a good weapon like righteous authority fast from Danse's mission because he can carry you throughout the mission, you wouldn't need to use 1 bullet on the mission
Same with the first Railroad mission. Let Deacon and a companion take the lead and just pick up the stuff left behind. Though this will cost you some XP Plus both give you a nice gun at the end.
bonus tip "Rader Armor and Weapons are junk. If you spend your time stripping raiders like I do scrap everything from a raider once you get to a settlement this way you can make better weapons and armor and or upgrade Vault suits and Brotherhood under armor that way you have more protection when you equip power armor and hard suits.
Another tip. Build a purified water economy in Sanctuary Hills, Starlight Drive-In and the Castle. You will need the Science! perk and materials to construct the more advanced water purification systems and you will have to beef up your defenses to keep your water producing settlements safe from attack. However, bottled purified water can be produced in large quantities (more so from the river in Sanctuary or adjacent to The Castle than the Drive-In movie theater but don't underestimate the latter). Then you sell the water and buy all the Fusion Cores and whatever else you desire because you're now the leading water merchant in the commonwealth.
My first fallout game, got it with the summer sale this year. Spent most of my 24 hours in game so far building up bases lol. Love it :D I also added some settlement mods to the game to make it even more interesting. Going to unlock the castle next, after I finish up building the drive-in
I just found a hard back book " fallout 4 Vault Dwellers Guide " .......for 10 bucks !!!! At a used album/ cd / dvd bookstore . That book has really helped a lot with a complete list of all perks .......and a list of where bobble heads are located !!!!!
#11 Start with Survival difficulty. Just do it, trust me. The game is meant to be played that way. Learning your way around, and getting a feel for the land, turns the experience from a fast travel checklist, to immersed in the commonwealth. #12. After finishing the game. Explore modding the game. Surprisingly, even console users can do this. There’s lots of ways to tweak simple stuff, like adding new gun sounds. But some mods can overhaul the experience, like removing all the power armors from the wild, changing up random encounters, or making guns with different ammo types. I’d also suggest that leveling quickly can get a newcomer in some trouble if they don’t acquire gear commensurate with the threats. Idiot Savant can super charge your build, which might not be everyone’s cup of tea, as they won’t like to be overpowered once they finally figure out the main quest.
Take your time for a closer look on the junk. A tin can weighs 0.1 lbs and gives 2 steel. A bucket weighs 3 lbs and gives also 2 steel. So don't collect buckets on your journey. Same for some other junk items. Raider armor is heavy, bad and cheap and don't give much resources when you scrap it. Same for pipe pistols you don't use and standard 10mm pistols. Not worth carrying around. Always look at the caps/weight ratio or resources/weight ratio.
I think the most essential tips are: save, a lot especially quick saves are really easy for if you just don't want to fail that speech check. Also, use mods. It's worth it
When it came to settlements and running supply lines i connected them to my main base, in that case it was sanctuary and i had the new settlements supply the manpower for that. That way all supplies go to sanctuary and through sanctuary all settlements have access to all supplies. Thats probably why i got cows on my roof back in sanctuary . . . Several
You can do it whenever you like. I never personally max SPECIAL stats as a priority until my build is functional though. Some people like to max all base states before getting stat bobbleheads though, because then they can get their SPECIAL to 11 base (bobblehead will add 1 even if the stat is already at 10).
@@TheEfficientGamer iam just trying new stuff and havnt tried high special befor but feel like missing out on stuff like:lockpicking, crafting, resistant and auto wep dmg.(and whatnot). I do keep nick around for hacking
I learned something new tonight. Maybe you already knew this. Maybe someone else don't. If your companion picks up a weapon, and starts using it. You can upgrade a similar weapon. Give it to your companion. Do not assign the weapon. They will use it, and not need ammunition. Example: Strong will pick up assault rifles, and use them. No ammo needed. I have Strong is using a fully modded, automatic assault rifle, with enclave paint. And I don't have to give him any bullets.
That's actually an exploit I've never heard of, and I thought I knew them all. I'm also surprised because usually NPCs pick the weapon with the highest DMG. Maybe in this case he is picking the highest DPS. I guess you have to give him at least one 5.56 bullet?

It does sound fun! I think the key to enjoying the game after you’ve done everything is creating self-imposed challenges.
I like to give the junk jet fire damage and only load it with pre-war money. I call it Money to Burn.
Daniel Schmidtke a scathing commentary on Capitalism
Ah, you're obviously not playing on Survival Mode.
I've been looking for a in-depth guide to fallout 4 for like a week now and I just found it!! Subbed and thumbed, keep it up brother
For years my friend would religiously play this i never got around to playing until last week and I'm hooked
The point being to get adhesive from the starch to build mods with.
Osrs?
Some people will have issues with the texture packs.
Well im about to start playing it for the first time but i only got the base game, no dlc
Im not gonna buy them tho because i got the game for free
Hopefully it'll still be fun
@@Dreadeyeknight it will be great
I'm a hoarder so Fallout 4 is one of my greatest games
My dumbass has 7 power cores and now i onow what they're for
Great video bud. This game is amazing and having almost infinite leveling up is a precious gift!
I've gained up to 3 levels from a single Preston quest.
wtf is that an actually super usefull "tips and tricks" video? And one that doesn't last 26 minutes ? Damn thank you !
One of the best, most helpful short introductions to Fallout 4 I have ever seen. I have many thousand hours in FO4 and I approve these messages.
Finally got this game, time flys when you're living life. The hording tip was reassuring because i normally try not to over burden myself with too much junk but i was getting the sense i should pick everything up lol. Was a big fan of FO3 and #4 definitely had a different feel right off the bat.
Flies and hoarding.
Your video sounds a lot like a love letter - and I couldn't have said it better :)
One lesson should every game studio learn from Fallout 4 and Skyrim: let your original dev tools free and unleash the full magic power of passionate modders.
The ways to transform and/or extend F4 are nearly infinite - that's what keeps me playing.
You can build in this game???
I haven't played it in year but thought I'd go back and play it again so this video was perfect for that
Companions will add interesting commentary. LOL. They never stop talking. They especially do not approve of you picking up anything. Dogmeat is a good boy because he does not criticize you. He makes up for it by barking to draw my attention to something. I turn around and no Dogmeat. I have no idea where he is.
I love how it’s not caped because you can explore and not be mad if you waste a rank up
Sure a maxed out intelligence can get you 30%+ xp gain, but a good build that needs less healing and finishes fights and therefore quests 60% faster, is better. Also unless it's my clothing overhaul mod, power armor removes the effect of either deep pockets on armor pieces or of the CC backpack, I actually have lower carry weight in pa.. granted I could mod the pa pieces too.
Just started fallout 4 vr on the oculus quest 2, so really appreciate the video
Not gonna lie I bought this game early on since I was a huge fan of FO3 and NV but only spent about 10 minutes exploring the wasteland before I quit and moved on to another game. Im just now giving my FO4 another chance and I absolutely love it. I doubt anything will top NV for me personally but I get so caught up with settlement building in FO4 and I feel like they did a good job incorporating a little bit of everything. Huge open world, lots of exploring, lots of weapon options, building, side quests, ect..I'm going to be busy for a very long time
You should try the survival mode. It's a completely new game again.
Though this will cost you some XP
Plus both give you a nice gun at the end.
Here in 2024! ❤ Fallout 4
this was cool guide cause you seem to love this game also loved that it was all spoiler free, made me excited to try it
Hey bro I used your strategy to get all of the level four merchants worked first try thank you I really appreciate it I've always wanted to do it
I played the game a few years ago and then stopped but now I tried playing it again because I started playing the other fallouts again too
I’ve played this game for years But I still need to know these things
bonus tip "Rader Armor and Weapons are junk. If you spend your time stripping raiders like I do scrap everything from a raider once you get to a settlement this way you can make better weapons and armor and or upgrade Vault suits and Brotherhood under armor that way you have more protection when you equip power armor and hard suits.
I like your love for this game. Subscribed
Thanks man, good tips for a returning player!
Played fo3 and NV on release, enjoying 4 so much rn😵💫
My first fallout game, got it with the summer sale this year.
Spent most of my 24 hours in game so far building up bases lol. Love it :D
I also added some settlement mods to the game to make it even more interesting.
Going to unlock the castle next, after I finish up building the drive-in
FYI - 9 times out of 10 speech shortcuts cut you off of quests that would gain you much more than the small bonus for a speech success.
I definitely wouldn’t say it’s that often. There are a small handful of times where dialogue allows you to skip sections of quests
great vid. I just started play fallout 4 few days ago and really think this video is very helpful
I just found a hard back book " fallout 4 Vault Dwellers Guide " .......for 10 bucks !!!! At a used album/ cd / dvd bookstore . That book has really helped a lot with a complete list of all perks .......and a list of where bobble heads are located !!!!!
Tip 11 become the shroud be the hero the commonwealth needs and fight in the face of evil
Mad how I bought this on release and im watching a tips and tricks video almost 9 years later lol
I am a huge Survival fan but I would NOT recommend it to anyone for a first playthrough.
I just started 4 ab a month ago, i have gotten to folowwing Danse and im here for the TIPS. Cuz i carry around so much shit i cant run 😅
Diamond city has tons of fusion cores
76 is very hard get fusion cores
I think the most essential tips are: save, a lot especially quick saves are really easy for if you just don't want to fail that speech check. Also, use mods. It's worth it
When it came to settlements and running supply lines i connected them to my main base, in that case it was sanctuary and i had the new settlements supply the manpower for that. That way all supplies go to sanctuary and through sanctuary all settlements have access to all supplies. Thats probably why i got cows on my roof back in sanctuary . . . Several
You get the same effect regardless of what geometry you use to connect the supply lines.
is there a point to max all base stats befor unlocking skills? or is it a waste of time
You can do it whenever you like.
Just started playing I can’t wait
Thanks - this is really helpful!
Just bought this game a week ago (never played any fallout) and I still cannot figure out what is going on 98% of the time
It's quite confusing as a first time player. Talk to all the NPCs, they will kind of guide you through the story.
I know this is crazy but I never played the fallout series before so I’ve been playing fallout 4 for 3 days now and this is fun to play
Good vid, subscribed.
a bit overwhelming..ill just jump in and keep these tips in mind. thanks
i confirm your tips! this game has an incredible fun factor. don't waste time with complaining ;)
Ever since fallout 4 came out I have not seen any spoilers to the stories or to the mechanics or anything. I am brand spanking new but I do love the fall out story in the 1st game up until now. Recently my partner got me new fallout 4 game of the year edition. Thank you for these tips! Im loving the game so far n watched some funny glitch videos from when the game first came out. So far i haven't ran into any bugs. So that's good! ^^ i wonder if the fallout community is still thriving? 🤔 anybody got any groups they recommend?
Late reply lol but you could always join the Fallout page on Reddit if that interests you, lots of useful tips and tricks on not just Fallout 4 but every Fallout game! Might learn a thing or two 🤔
Steam page is not terrible though more toxic than it actually used to be. Also the BGS Discord server is OK.
Don't worry about build guides ever!
Very well done video,I played this game when it came out but am only now really sinking my teeth in it and appreciating it alot , also trying to 100% it .with a few tweaks its s dream to play on pc :)
Thanks I actually just started last week an im hooked now lol
Just about to buy the game now I’ll be ready for when I play thank you for these tips!!!
Here's another tip, play with mods at your discretion. Once you play with mods you won't want to go back to the original game. I haven't played the base Fallout 4 in years
I forced myself to cut (almost) all mods out to make my content accessible, but i I do miss them.
Only getting into fallout 4 now after watching the stories for the other games, cheers lad 🙏
I bought the game for pc when released..never finished the game..now i reinstall in my series s ...looks like a new game
Never completed Fallout 3, so i plan on going all in on this one, especially after watching the show.
Going to be using the video for help! Thanks! If anyone has any other tips for a newcomer like me feel free to reply!
I know I’m late but I enjoy it by figuring out every way I can glitch it
I remember a guy from like 6 years ago on YT had a channel that just broked and glitched games, Think it was called Lets play it out! or something lol
Thanks you for the tips and tricks 😎
Pro strat that not many people know: Shoot the power armor on dead bodies until that part of the power armor disappears before you pick it off a body. 0 Health power armor has 0 weight value, so you can carry as much as you want
This helps ton.
Because Fallout 4 is my first fallout game and I bought game of the year edition for steam from G2A. 😊
Learned a few new things thanks!
Tipp Nr. 11 38. Bullets are currency and not for shooting
Charisma also effects maximum number of settlers
Does anyone remember randomly coming across a bird and a snake fighting in the early fallout 4 days?
