Thanks for the information. its quite educative. However, if tissue (e.g kidney) has been fixed in 10%neutral buffered formalin for more than a month, can it still be useful for histological evaluation? if yes, what are the likely challenges that may occur?

You can use any mechanical rotary microtome, for example, Sakura SRM 200 or SLEE CUT4062.

Please, could you clarify the example if 1,5sm = 1,5cm in that way it makes better sense to me.

Hello! Paraformaldehyde - is a white sediment, the polymer of formalin. For fixation you should use 10% formaline (which is the same as 4% formaldehyde solution).
