first year med student here! you are a life saver. THANK YOU. after months of being lost and hating histology, it all makes sense now. can't thank you enough.
@@TheNotedAnatomist I agree, this video is of course very basic and will not be enough but some of your points really help shed new light on some of the tissue types and things definitely make more sense now. I'll be sure to check out the Histology Wizard.
Thank you from a drowning first year vet student 😅. The more I study the body the more I doubt evolution. Its a magnificent system with a delicate balance
When you have millions (thousands upon thousands) (hundreds upon hundreds) of years to build up the basic systems and put them together, then threaten to kill and eat those who can't, evolution is a very readily understandable reasoning. It has been demonstrated and reproduced in lab conditions with bacteria and fruit flies. Tldr the human brain cannot understand just how long our lineage is.
Your channel is a real treasure. I'm a medic trying to get into med school, and your videos are amazing because I can watch them to take a break from studying from books and not feel like I'm wasting my time! I am eternally grateful for your work and your unique and entertaining style of teaching.
Takes me back a long way. My first ever job, I started in 1965, was as a histology technician at the Central Veterinary Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food at Weybridge in the UK. I prepared many thousands of H&Es. I made a personal collection of slides, sadly they got lost during a move to Portugal. We also did other stains for research and diagnosis, including Ziehl-Neelsen, Gram, Perl's Prussian blue, Papanicolaou, Mann's Methyl Blue Eosin etc.
Great video. My dad diagnosed cancer by reading pap smears. He had a few inventions too. One was a slide with lines and the other was an eye piece that allowed the user to look straight instead of down into the microscope. He was working on a cancer test that detected cancer long before other methods using a finger stick, silver nitrate and few other things. Sadly he did not have much follow through. This is a great way to see what my dad saw when he looked into a scope. 😊
I just had my last histology exam of the year today! But I will watch this anyway later because I just love all of these videos, and watching the clear instruction from Dr. Morton on this topic will be such a joy.
Im preparing for my histology exam and that video really helped me, now everything is clear to me even though its not my native language. Your explanations and visualizations really do their job. Thank you!
Thank you for this explanation. I benefited a lot. In Iraq, studying is very difficult, so when I do not understand a topic in school, I searched and found your channel 🙏
Dr. Morton you are one of the best teachers on youtube. I love your teaching style. It’s so impressive how u manage to explain us so complex topics in such a simplified and straightforward one! This is incredible thank you for your work and time. I love your anatomy videos and this overview is outstanding! Wow!
I ALWAYS struggle with histology and anatomy and your anatomy videos are the only one that I love to use to study with and now THIS!! I'm very grateful for this video!! Thank you so much, Dr. Morton! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I read my textbook a few times but only after watching this video, I have light bulb moment of why there is always a loose CT below epithelium on every slide! You save me in both anatomy and histology Dr Morton! Thank you 😄
This is the best introductory overview of histology I've ever seen. I wish it existed during my first week of medical school. Thank you for all your other amazing videos that carried me through anatomy, though. The only problem I have with this video is: Who puts carrots in Jell-O?! Great analogy and visual, and I like carrots, just... not in my Jell-O.
I recently failed an exam twice at chemestry and I feel not quite all right. I decided to click on this video because I'm going to take histology lessons and knowing just a bit before might help me a bit as I'm a quite slow learner.
