    well done. as a manufacturing engineer for an RV mfr. , I am retired, you won't get the quality you put into this build. That is not to say you can't get this quality in a conventional RV, I am just saying the amount of money you would spend would be many times more than your build. Hats off to your build.

      We toured MANY professionally converted coaches, RV's, etc for ideas. You cant deny having 20-30-40+ years of experience. We took notes of their use of space, how wiring and plumbing was done, etc. You learn from the best in the business and implement into ours.

    the windows do let an extraordinary amount of heat in. In my prevost...I put 3/8 thick windshield shades on the front windshield and bus windows that the sun hits...reduced the heat significantly!. ordered the 50ft roll from Amazon and custom cut. that along with the blinds worked pretty good....currently camping in New orleans. I have awnings but blahhh.

    Great tour of your outstanding interior !! I love the light and airy feel of the interior and the color choices were perfect. You have a well thought out bus and your craftsmanship is excellent. I would opt for a couch up front and a set of bunk beds and use the other side for storage closets. As there was no video of the exterior on this video, I would guess you have a generator ?

    • @RVthatBus
      @RVthatBus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We do have a powertech diesel 8kw generator. But the plan is to remove it and replace with a very large battery bank and do full solar on the roof, 4kw. We have only used our generator once and prefer to stay at campgrounds with hookups.

    Love how functional and stylish your bus is !
    Corning or 3M (somebody like that) makes a ceramic clear, colourless window film that blocks 90% of the solar gain
    The tinted window film is for privacy but does nothing for UV which really surprised me
    I saw it at an automotive glass place where the tech was walking a customer through the differences in the window films

    • @RVthatBus
      @RVthatBus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We used r17 fiberglass insulation on exterior walls where space allowed. We chose to leave the original bus insulation between frame as it is probably flame retardant. We have 1/2" furring strip thermal brakes, with 1/2" foam board insulation on side walls and ceiling. On interior walls we used thermafiber insulation for both sound and having firebreaks between zones. Even though the walls themselves are framed in wood, the firebreak and solid pocket doors could give extra time in the event of a fire. HOWEVER... if I get the chance to build bus #2... I would probably strip all stock insulation, do furing strips, but do a complete closed cell spray insulation.

    You really didn't have your kids in mind at all in this build huh..? No color in "their room", not one space to call their own and express themselves, no cubbies or little shelves by their beds for their little things, and no windows to look out.. 😔

    • @RVthatBus
      @RVthatBus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you were to ask our kids they would tell you they like the space. They have sheets and pillows that express their interest and we bring tubs with toys on trips. We don’t live in the bus and clearly we took the video when it was clean so you wouldn’t see the mess. The whole reason we have the bus is to make memories with our kids. As for the windows, that bunk room is for sleeping anyway and we spend most of our time outside.

    • @1nhonho
      @1nhonho 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking each kid should have a top bunk. Then use the space beneath one bunk as storage with cubbies. And the other side empty so they can have room to play indoors on rainy days. Also the living room layout stresses me out. There's a reason rv's have special furniture because normal furniture is too big especially when you don't have slides. But that's just me.
