Thank you so much! We don’t have a video about the dash currently, but I do have a decent amount of footage. It was one of the harder millwork projects because the dash has so many angled features and I built it so that it can be disassembled for service.
I'm just getting started on what will be a heavily modified and complex build and now my head hurts. Thank you so much for posting this. When it comes to building out a skoolie, the faint of heart need not apply. 8D
I love that you showed more details of the conversation. Most stick to the inside view but you showed much more of what goes into the functioning of it turning into a home
You guys are amazing! This video is scaring me! I didn't realize just how much welding needs to be done. Guess I need to learn welding or something. What kind of saw were u using 9:30. Looks like a giant angle grinder. I've mainly seen people use circular saws which seems awkward. That thing looks like a beast! haha You guys took the masking off to reveal the orange and white paint and I immediately thought "Mmmm I want a creamsicle" LOL seriously. I need one now.
Thanks! We did far more welding than the typical conversion, plenty of builds don't use any welding. The saw i was using was a DeWalt battery powered cutoff saw that has blade large enough to cut through the structural members of the bus in one pass. It works well, but isn't required. Haha, we get the creamsicle comment pretty often! Thanks for watching!
Saw your bus tour on mobile dwellings, came over to check out your videos. You have an awesome bus, I have watched many bus builds and I am very impressed with yours. Just subscribed. Safe travels 🚌 ❤
Replacing differential? Oh for crying out loud! How do you know how to do that? One of several reactions I had during this video. Where do you guys get all this talent at such young ages? Sincerely, a less talented 59 year old.
@@edeg1 we were able to use a family members heavy equipment shop for the first few months of the build. The biggest help were the lifting jacks that can raise the whole bus up into the air. They made working on the underbay storage much easier. The rest of the build took place outside for the most part. Thanks for watching!
Amazing video. We would like to show this video on our channel with your permission. We will add your link and your name will also be mentioned in the video. Let us know what you think
Hello I really love your bus build. It’s is very well done. My wife and I are building one right now and I really like your curtains. I know you did the snaps yourselves but did you make the curtains as well? If not would you be willing to share where you got them? Thanks for the great content!
Thanks you! Emily made all of the curtains herself. She sewed the reflectics insulation into the curtains for temperature control. It was a major undertaking. Thanks for watching!
I gotta say I am loving this bus conversion! It’s so cool how much you guys did and built to make it uniquely yours! I especially love the orange and white paint job it gives it a very retro 70s VW bus vibe that I am digging. I gotta be a bit nosy and ask a couple of questions if it’s alright; when you were raising the roof how much did you guys lift it up by? The title says 80k, was that your budget starting out or was that what you spent total on everything by the end? Also how much was the bus by itself? Cheers guys, you did a fantastic job!
Thank you so much! We actually used a retro VW bus paint job for inspiration. We raised the roof 18 inches. The 80k figure was our cost for the entire project including the bus which was 7k . Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks! We do not have any regrets about the effort we put into the build, We wanted a space that is nice enough to enjoy living in for a few years. We have loved having the opportunity to travel the country while still working full time and we love the ability to stay with family for extended periods of time without being a burden on them. Our house goes wherever we are! Thanks for watching!
You are very observant. For a time, it was very easy to register school bus conversions in Vermont. We just had to send in the paperwork and a check, and they sent the plates. Now it is not quite as easy. We are originally form South Dakota but we've bought land in Idaho and have started on the property improvements.
We sure do! We have one posted on our channel! Also, most of the skoolie tour channels have videos of our bus (they all did a great job), you should check them out too!
The build is heavy, we are grossing just under 35k lbs which is still under the GVWR. I did add a slight tune to the engine which bumps up the horse power to 300. We can still comfortably curse at 60-70 and climb grades at about the same speed as a loaded semi. Thanks for watching!
What was your favorite part of the build? Also, let us know if you have any questions about us or our skoolie! Thank you so much for watching!
That was beautiful! Do you have a video on remaking the dash area and meters? I want to do that as well with my bus.

Who is this guy?! Is there anything he can't do?! just amazing.
Haha, I learn as I go. There are plenty of things that I am useless at!
This underbay job is such a serious undertaking but you make it look easy! 5:02
Yes, it took about 2 months to build. We love it though. Having the insulated storage space is really nice.
There is no substitute for quality work. Onward!
Thank you so much!
I really want to watch the people who are building the camper van.
2:25 wow i can't believe I didn't realized you modified the heck out of your steps!
Haha, most people don't! I went through all that work and then saw that front engine buses have a very similar design.

Saw the video at Mobile Dwellings. Is that an RJ11(phone jack) or R45(ethernet) behind the pencil holders built into the table?
Cool! It is the R45 Ethernet jack. Emily has to use a VPN for work and cannot use wifi. Thanks for watching!
This is very cool. Was all the time and money you invested worth it?

Muy bonito pero muy mal echo le añadieron demasiado peso y eso le quita bastante potencia al motor
