One of the things I love about my classic mini is that its so much fun to drive at the speed limit. Every time I sit in it a massive grin spreads over my face and thats before I go anywhere! Ive waited 20 years to own another one and I won't be without one again. People love it everywhere I go 🙂 Great vid 👍
I used to own a 1968 red Austin Mini 850. Underpowered car but really fun to drive. Another really fun car I owned with superb handling especially on twisty mountain roads, was a 1986 Chevy Sprint ER, a 3 cyl 5 speed manual gearbox actually made by Suzuki.
Minis arent minis nomore. However i will say i owned a r56 2013 and loved it to pieces. After that 2014 and on they got bigger and more fancy with bells and whistles and its not the minis ive come to love and wanna drive.
I own a classic Mini called Henley as my everyday car, and everything you say is completely true. Ive made a lot of new mates and have had loads of great driving memories owning this car. Even thinking back on the (many 😬) break downs is funny 😂
Thanks for sharing this gem of a video. I loved every minute of it. Re-ignited my desire to buy one. My daily driver is a MINI 2005 R53 Cooper S. I love that car. MINIs are great fun.
I had a 1998 rover mini 1275i about 12years ago ,I'm 6foot 4inches and absolutely loved it. It broke my heart and my wallet but I'd own one again now in a heartbeat. They are climbing in value, if you have one hold on to it! Great review 👏
Brilliant video, perfectly sums up why owning a mini is so great! I was going to do a similar video with mine but I don’t think I could say anything better than you have, keep up the great content.
The Classic Mini almost made my wife and I believe in ghosts. Every time we drove own this local country lane she would slutter and jump and the lights would flash on and off. Of course it wasn't ghosts it was a short on the main battery lead that needed just the right road condition to hit the bottom of the car😂
Fab video,I drive an MPI Cooper Sport she is called Agnes & she is a joy to drive sooo nippy 😜. I'v driven Minis since '87 when I brought my first Mini city E & Agnes is my 5th & the MPI is an amazing little car to drive, such fun xxx💚
My friend had a red MPI Cooper Sport called Agnes 😁 Mines a red Spi Cooper called Hot Lips I've had her since 2000. My previous one was a Mini City called Poppy she's the one in my pic. I love Minis they make me smile when I drive them or just see one ☺️
@@nell527OldSkool Hot Lips haha what a great name for a cheeky little Mini 😁. You have to give your car a name it makes them part of the family. I've had a purple Studio2 called Prudence (a friend brought her from me & she is being rebuild for her son to drive), had a John Cooper Le before Agnes, his name was Percy, sadly he got written off by a BMW in a hit & run (I've located him in Yorkshire & he's being rebuilt by a Mini enthusiast with a good collection of Minis). We've gotta keep these amazing little cars on the road, they are a British icon after all 🇬🇧💚xx
😎👍 🇺🇸 I have a 71 mini Cooper S here in the US. It was the only classic I really wanted and I finally got one. Spent a lot of time sorting it out. Currently replacing the heater core and at this moment I'm cleaning up the housing. It's also the only classic I can fit inside the garage with the other toys. It's a wonderful car in spite of its shortcomings. ✌️
Heater valves did leak a little, but they weren't rubbish until spurious copies flooded the market. There are masses of alternatives though, it just needs a valve in a hose.
Great video! Me and 2 friends each had a classic Mini 40-45 years ago in the U.S. I see people talking about exotic supercars, and I think, what's the point? Where are they going to use 1000hp and go 200mph? With a classic Mini, you can go 30 mph and be grinning from ear to ear.
What a little beauty! Just starting my own project on one with my old man, can't wait to get it mot'd and on the road! What exhaust system have you got on it? Sounds great 👌
Brilliant, that sounds like it will be a load of fun when the project is finished! Unfortunately, I don't know what exhaust system it is. I bought the car with it already fitted and I couldn’t seem to find any markings/writing on the exhaust - sorry about that. Thanks for watching though!
@@SamWorthReviewing I'm sure it will be! Well here's hoping haha oh that's fine! Don't worry, it sounds great- I'm sure I will find something that sounds just as good. Keep up the mini content, would be great to see some more 👌 cheers, all the best!
The only real issue with the clasisc Mini is RUST! They do it for fun, however at this point most Minis on the road have been restored and looked after. Truly the most fun car ever!
I'm surprised the mini did not hit the camera when it went over it. That car is so low that I had to drive it on top of a 4x4 just so I could get a jack under the subframe to jack it up.
4:15 why don't you fit the old mk1 brass heater valve? Yes it has a little lever on the side of it to stop the coolant flow which means lifting the bonnet to turn it depending if its a cold day or not but so much more reliable.
Its a strange thing about old British cars, especially those produced in the 1950s and 1960s. Here in Malaysia, my father had the opportunity to drive and own a few British cards during those decades. He used to say that they were so unreliable and were not really tropicalised before being shipped over from the UK to Malaya all those years. Not being tropicalised meat that certain parts could not stand the heat and moisture in tropical Malaya. Monsoon rain used to force water through the rubber seals causing leaks in the interior and engine. Yet, he said that when everything work, those British cars gave such enjoyment to him that he could easily forgive their defects and unreliability. Similarly, he said the same about British bikes which were available then in Malaya. To put it bluntly, the British had great engineers! However, they had really terrible managers. It's sad to see that the UK motorcar and motorcycle industries decimated until they are mainly foreign owned. My late father could never believe that such thing could ever happened.
I love Mini's. Some people don't understand me, they complain about the harsh ride, the small boot, the interior space (which is big, I dont understand that complain)... and they up driving a boring automatic new VW Polo. I wish I could own the classic Mini but for now I have a 2018 manual Mini Cooper in British Racing Green. 136hp (155 real hp stock), 3 cylinder, TwinScroll turbo... with a chip +24hp, 1065kg, good tires... quick enough and cheap to run. 0-100 in 6,9sec.
You can build an entire new classic mini from scratch if you have the money…. BMC Heritage re-manufacture the body shells under licence and various mini tuning houses/companies supply almost everything you need to get one on the road.
The classic Mini is easily the best FWD car made. Cars nowadays way over 1.3 kg (more than a 57 Chevy) and nearly all of them are FWD. With the classic Mini, it ways less than WAYYY under 1000 kg which is how much an FWD car should weigh.
Why would you put in the description that it's registered as having a smaller engine than it has, and are you going to get it registered as the engine size it has? Also, silver-on-black number plates are illegal on a 1990 car. Why do some people think it's OK to break the law?
Certainly the Mini is a favorite ( NOT the HORRIBLE New ones!!!!! Too Big too fat and UGLY ) but other cars contend for the title of greatest ever, inc VW Beetle, ( not New ones the old air cooled flat four ) and of course the Model T, WHY because it was the first AFFORDABLE family car sure others were around BUT they were expensive the T was simple reliable and Cheap!!!!

Ever since BMW took over the MINI it feels like it’s lost it character, if I ever buy a MINI it will have to be a classic one like this.
Finally someone intelligent.

Your mini is spot on - you have great taste. I can't stand all the bells and whistles - yours is nice and clean. Great job.

Mint video mate, the stance of that mini is perfect!
what is "stance" ? ... the Look? It´s actually Stock, besides the Enginebay. It was available like this. I used to own one. "SilverBullet" Edition.
The driving position can be improved with a steering drop bracket, available from Minispare or Minisport, and seat extensions from Smiffy Bits.

P.S it was 90 degrees anti clockwise :)
The intro is giving me Top Gear vibes. Awesome mate! From USA now London.
Wow - astonishing production values. Up to broadcast standard.
Thank you so much!

Thankfully I think electric vehicles being the majority on the road are a long way off especially because so many people despise them
Love the look of yours! I'd love to buy one but all the minis I've checked out aren't ULEZ exempt

Love the tone of the exhaust!
With no traction control or ABS, is it “safe” to whip around corners? What about in the rain/snow, how does it handle?

How reliable are they ?
It's a bit of a hit and miss with a Mini. Some are reliable if you maintain them and others aren't. But I could say that about any car, really.
