    It would helpful if you did a video on how to choose types of paint. Like when to use matte vs egg shell, and furniture paint vs wall paint, and spray paint vs normal paint. I’ve been redoing my room and my daughters nursery (including repainting second hand furniture) and it’s been kinda hard to decide!

      If you are repainting a crib, for example. Or anything your daughter will spend time on: go for valspar wood paint. They do a furniture range, but any paint for wood (eggshell, satin or gloss) will be great and hold up nicely. I say valspar specifically because the paint is acrylic, so it’s really sturdy and easy to clean. It’s also water-based so it’s perfectly safe for your baby ❤️
      (I was a paint pro at B&Q, and then worked in a dulux decorator centre) ☺️

      Matte good for ceilings, eggshell & satin good for walls (bedrooms, bathrooms, family rooms) semi gloss & gloss good for trim.

    • @jadejones2583
      @jadejones2583 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@meghangrier7283 eggshell and satin are wood finishes (in the UK, at least). Silk, mid-sheen and matte are wall finishes. Is it different in the US?

    • @sarahwenger4479
      @sarahwenger4479 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For walls at least, in kitchens, you usually do a higher shine paint (high gloss or semi-gloss) for cabinets as it’s more durable and that’s a high traffic area. Same for doors and trims, those also can be high gloss or semi gloss. Bathrooms and chair rails can also be semi gloss as they are slightly less high traffic but still pretty high traffic. You can use a satin finish on the walls for family/living rooms, dens, foyers, hallways, kids bedrooms, etc as that’s still a higher traffic area and it’s easy to clean. Eggshell is between satin and flat, and you can do this for dining rooms and living rooms and adult bedrooms. It’s good for spaces that aren’t used as often as the main spaces. Flat paint is used most often on ceilings as it hides scuffs but it’s hard to clean (so you put it places like ceilings that don’t need cleaning). It’s also good for sitting rooms or studies that don’t get used by kids or visited often.

    The faux leather chair in Becky's living room is cool, but I can't look away from that "pleat" in the back of it .... it's very ..... evocative.
    I do love the "Malm-esque" fireplace ... and since you Zhuzhed it up and made it look more integrated into the space, It's fabulous there. I love the base you made.
    I adore Kelsey's Ikea bench .... that being said, she does get a little in her head about some of her decorating choices & sometimes she agonizes a little too much. Most decor is changeable AND sometimes "living with" something makes you appreciate it more (or less).
    Great video .... 10/10

      Yes yes yes, 100% seconded! I’m about to buy a walnut kitchen countertop to use as a desk, and I’m pretty sure I’ve exhaustively researched it enough now to have a good idea of what I’m going to do... now I just need to get all the supplies! (Including a sander that collects all the dust so I can do it inside, because there’s nowhere else to do it 🙈)... but I’ve also got one of those ubiquitous IKEA wood stepstools that’s super grubby-looking that I really need to give a makeover, plus an old school Expedit 4x4 unit (it got skinnier frames and became the Kallax) in the dark black/brown espresso colour, which I actually don’t hate... but the top of it especially has been dinged up and scratched, so if I’m going to keep it, it needs a facelift!

    I love your Loft Vibes series. And just yesterday I was watching some videos of house renovations and was thinking to myself: The Sorry Girls make such renovations on the budget, one doesn't need to pay so much money for that! I would love to see more of your videos where you DIY decorate places. You are so creative!

    The Bissell Little Green isn't advertised as a "steam" cleaner. Maybe the term "proheat" they use is confusing. I have an ancient version and it sprays water and/or cleaning solution and then suctions it up, leaving the surface damp. It's incredibly noisy, yes, but it has gotten out kid spills, pet poop and vomit out of our carpet leaving it good as new. It's for spot cleaning messes, not steam cleaning sofas. Expectation vs. reality.

    • @Shadicats
      @Shadicats 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      LMAO - I can't believe my question made the video. I asked because we have the same exact one. My spouse has complained to me about ours, "It's not heating up, why isn't it heating, why is it called proHEAT if it doesn't heat up, why is it so loud." I can say, it has gotten the pet stains out of the carpet. Another youtube swears by theirs for the furniture flipping (Furniture Flipping Teacher). Anyhow, I totally did a fangirl squeal when I realized Becky's hate on the Green Machine is on the same level as ours. :)

    • @aksez2u
      @aksez2u 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Shadicats Fun to have your question answered! My machine is so old, it doesn't have the heat feature, so even if I put warm water in the tank, it comes out cool. However, as I said, it has gotten some of the grossest messes out of our carpet with no trace, so maybe give it a second chance?

    Adding some moulding in the bottom to match the foot moulding and a thinner flat moulding to the sides would make the entryway shoe storage look more built-in, I would highly recommend doing it since it will take it to a new level.

I discovered you when I was studying in Canada in 2017-2018, and since then you two have been my Canadian girls friends :) Since I have now moved back to Thailand, DIY is a lot more difficult as we don’t have tools and products to help as much as in Canada, this series will sure help me getting back to my DIY instinct! 🧡 Kudo for the great content, The Sorry Girls 😀!!!
