I literally googled “is a mirror outside safe?” Haha. The majority of the answers were yes it’s safe as long as it’s not directly across from something flammable. Also was saying something about injuring birds if it’s in their line of sight.
@@Smaugette people put mirrors in gardens to maximize sun exposure for their sun loving plants :) Edit: but I think they just did it cause they think it looks cool lol
Love the transformation! Looks BEAUTIFUL! However, a couple of things: -- Its going to be really muddy once it rains. -- The top layer is very loose. The legs of those chairs will dig in to the soil. Its gonna get pretty wobbly. -- That tall plant in the corner, it has been planted too close to the wall. The roots are gonna grow underneath the foundation. Once it grows large enough, it will hardly take time to see cracks on those walls. -- The weed barrier might not really work in preventing weed growth, just coz there is a layer of soil on top of it. But I really really love how the backyard looks now! Amazing! ❤️
You read my mind when you mentioned the tree being too close to the building. Also, vines can be very destructive to whatever surface it climbs up, especially concrete.
I was feeling this throughout the video, but didn’t want to be unkind. Perhaps it is better to be blunt though. Their design is just bad from a technical and practical standpoint. It will become an unusable space in short order. No one is going to want to be out side with broken pavers, mud, and dust, no matter how cute the design is.
It would be cool if you guys did an update at the end of the summer to see how things may have shifted, how the plants have grown in, that sort of thing! Outside spaces change the most over the course of a year! This turned out stellar!
I think the makeover looks really good! A small thing I wish they did was add gravel to the floor because when it rains, it's gonna be super muddy + they'll track in so much dirt into the office
I accidentally got a bit of dirt on my landscape fabric and the weeds are having a field day 😂 They are the absolute worst and it’s GA clay so it’s stuck on the fabric. Oy vey
You guys should consider taking a course (or a few!) in workplace safety and learning about PPE, safe lifting, etc! As employers it is your responsibility to create and maintain a safe work environment!
SERIOUSLY THIS. Blows my mind, I know workplaces cut corners on health and safety all the time but they're bloody filming it and teaching people! At least put on a show of it 🤦🏻
THANK YOU!!! They say they have been doing this for a decade… I’m SHOCKED at their lack of awareness in safety gear (PPE). The only care to safety was having masks on in the VERY beginning (smh). I work in the A/E/C industry, and if we even post a photo or have someone see a violation, OSHA would be all over us we would be fined and the job could stop. Women in construction are already facing adversity going into a male dominated field. They could be role models and do so much more. #OSHAVIOLATIONS
Really put what I was thinking into a good comment. I work in an environment with lots of work place health and safety and it is astonishing what I see
Was the path of the sun considered when placing the mirror? I have seen pictures of what can happen if you place a mirror in the wrong place outside, as it can start fires depending on how sun hits it. I also think the light should have been left the original colour and paint the cord black or get a new black cord. Then it would blend better with the other black cord. Looks good considering it was done in a few days.
The landscape fabric is supposed to be tacked down with landscaping staples and the dirt is supposed to go underneath... you just defeated the purpose. Mulch goes on top. Weeds will grow on any exposed dirt.
Sorry guys but after this I demand an update on Becky's backyard. After a year it's finally time to reveal how it turned out - outdoor space is not a thing to makeover in a week :)
The fact that you made a back outdoor space that wasn’t even remotely cute, Into that within a few days really shows how talented and hard working you guys and the gang are. Looks insane compared to before!
They need a level patio because their insurance will have the right to drop them for having unrepaired tripping hazards. I'd think the workman's comp insurance would be interested if an employee stumbles or twists an ankle or knee out there as well.
Love the transformation but in my honest opinion… there’s lots of things I think y’all dropped the ball on. A weed barrier with soil on top is counterproductive. A mirror reflecting sunlight could light something on fire. The hammock is pretty close to the fire pit. All the soil is going to get really muddy when it rains & will be such a mess when you go inside. And the plants are really close to the wall… sorry loves but I think you might need to redo a lot of this 💔
The most adorable thing is hearing how supportive and admirative you are to one another. “You’re doing great sweetie” from Kelsey to Becky made my heart swoon. That is woman power: balance and support plus admiration of other women’s ideas. Thanks ladies you are the best!
I came here for this comment! The cord needed to be black. The black would have gone well with the original colour and blended into the other cords. The white colour of the pendent light makes it look plastic, where as the original colour gave it more of a metallic feel. I also wish the cord was longer or something so that it could have been tucked away better. The way it's hung is a bit of an eye sore.
I'm a long-time subscriber and usually really love your transformations. The furniture/decor DIYs in this video were great, but please do more research on plants and landscaping before you do videos like these. There were some poor choices (see all of the comments before mine pointing them out) and I hope folks don't try to follow this as a tutorial. Maybe a future episode can be collabing with a landscape/gardening channel or company? 😊
I think that the coordination between planning and execution was not their best. It seemed rushed and the plants was something they just thought up after they saw the size of mirror when it went on the wall.
I just thought lightening rod when they put up the lights then they tied them into a wooden structure. Not to mention the poor tree placement with it being too close to the building foundation those roots will be a problem if not for them the building owner. Fire pits need clearance and a water source to put it out in an emergency, I didn't see any water spicket on the exterior of the building for them to use. Overall it's cute but dangerous imo. As an assistant to a realtor and a daughter to a retired firefighter I wouldn't feel safe using that space. I really wish they would have also not wasted those plants in the ground, those will get trampled on so easily. (And I liked a cactus and I'm worried about their plants)
@@michimelody4036 Yes they are renting so the building owner may be unhappy with a lot of these unsafe modifications they have done. The fire marshall (or Canadian equivalent) won't be happy either.
Omg, you guys are such a buzz kill lol. I'm sure they made sure everything was safe and checked with the landlord, they've been doing this stuff forever.
I think it's a nice sentiment that you've really been looking forward to having this space as an area for your team to relax and spend time together when it's safe to do so. However, I agree with many of the commenters that the design seems to be rushed and haphazard in places. Since this is the TSG office, it's understandable that the space reflects your individual taste in color and decor, but it doesn't really make sense to me that you didn't (seem to) do any research for the landscaping and just went with what looked good to you~ usually y'all are pretty on it with this type of thing so I'm just surprised.
Kelsey’s dream jungle car has tons of plants in it, buy my dream “jungle” car would be the Thornberry’s RV. I used to think (still do) it was soooo cool!
I don't think you are going to last long before more ground-cover of some sort is added. All I see is top soil tracked everywhere. As an engineer, I do want to give you props for knowing your limitations and realizing you can't do real groundwork unless it's done right. If not, you are just begging for a crumbly, uneven mess.
Hope you found some native plants to choose! They need less maintenance, no fertilizer, little water - and survive our pests and weather. The perk is seeing butterflies, birds, and bees! As well as saving time and money. They are perennials so you spend once and they keep self-seeding.
Yes! Exactly our plan here in Maryland when we clear up and replant the yard of the house we’re renovating. In our current home, some trees had to be cut down all over our neighborhood (some think due to faulty gas lines which are now fixed). To replace one of those trees, we chose a native oak instead of something exotic. It’s done beautifully and is so full and wonderful. We hate to leave it when we move.
That lamp might get broken on a windy day. I'm not sure how heavy it is but it looks like it has the potential to smash into the wall/mirror behind it. I think pavers might be a good idea in the future under those chairs as well. You can usually find some for free on facebook or you could use rejects from your local concrete facility.
Looks super girls! I'm hoping you incorporate some more color into it in your next video. Also pea gravel added would help keep the mud down after it rains and prevent so much dirt and mud being tracked into your beautiful studio! 🌻😀👏🌺
Nice landlord to let you have fire pit. Of course, he's been really really nice to you all the way around! Thanks, landlord, for helping create this wonderful studio!
Come on guys, perfect opportunity for some fabulous colours. Black cushions! A mural on the big wall is begging to be created. You need to cover all the soil with gravel, bark or Coco chips otherwise will have muddy, weedy mess very soon and chairs will just sink in soil. This is just basic practical landscaping for your outdoor space and money invested to last more than few weeks. 😎
If that was my building and they painted it as temp tenants I'd be pissed. They don't own it. I'm pretty sure they weren't allowed to paint the exterior.
With the rain and snow they see up there that could mold with no overhang on the building but it's an option with the right cloth I guess, you'd get bugs up behind it. Just another piece to clean imo.
My issue with all these backyard and patio makeovers is that all the youtubers seem to be treating them as one would interior space and it’s just not the same. You guys rock with interior input, but I would love to see and learn how to diy outdoor space from someone who does gardens/outdoor spaces, so the nature part is as good as the furniture and lights.
Yeah, I wish they put more research into projects they aren't as familiar with before tackling them, so that they give viewers a better idea of best practices. Obviously, they're not experts and no one expects them to be, but there are some things that could've been easily solved with more prep/research, like not planting the tree so close to the building's foundation or installing the weed barrier correctly (putting soil over it defeats the purpose). 😊
Stunning ladies. Just be mindful of that evergreen so near the building. The root system has a habit of damaging foundations and that could end up costing you big time ❤️
I agree but it’s a rental so I don’t know if they are allowed since it means they should paint a color on top if they leave instead of looking like stone but I hope they do!
So many of the concerns I had while watching this video have been expressed. It will be a weedy, muddy mess in no time with soil on top of weed barrier. Please take all the suggestions and re-do this space before you live to regret this project. At the very least find a mulch to put down that slows down the weeds and helps with the dirt/mud tracking in to the office. Also the pendent light was so pretty in the original color and as others have said a black cord would have been the better answer....blend in with the black string lights. Girls you can do better with the practical side of this project.
I was just watching the video where Becky transforms her backyard. She gave a shout out to the landscaping company that mapped everything out properly and provided all of her landscaping materials. She used gravel under the pavers and did such a fantastic job with planting and just making the entire space over properly. I wish that they had done that here.
I love how minimal yet functional the space is. *chefs kiss *. I also respect that as bosses y’all care about creating a comfortable inviting yet functional space you yourselves and your team. Keep the loft vibes coming!
Would be better if they actually cared about basic workplace health and safety... They keep showing unsafe practices and lack of knowledge (yet they're teaching people and in charge of a workplace). It's really irresponsible of them. Who cares how cute your workplace is when someone gets injured or worse. Or people taking your advice get injured. Really disappointing
The space looks great! I think some pea gravel would put it over the top. Well done! PS. Be careful that the left over vines on the back wall are not poison oak or poison ivy.
Southern or northern? We called them potato bugs in SoCal a million years ago when I was a kid, but I think "pill bugs" was also used, just not as much.
I have landscaped several home and I'm so confused why they put down weed barrier then put soil on top of it..... that defeats the purpose of a weed barrier 😆
I usually really love your makeovers but the dirt just throws me a bit I think click together decking squares could have been nice for a part of it especially to keep the dirt from trailing in and out the building x
Looks good! I had "had" a spool table in my back yard and really liked it, used it all the time; not as large as they ones you have. I did not realize that they are not made with pressure treated wood and if fell apart after only 2 years. I wish I would have painted it to make it last longer. Just an FYI.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the sheer weight of that table with the two spools as the base! They will have to take it apart in order to move it anywhere! I also didn't notice if they were using interior or exterior paint for the table to the light.
Yup, I see beautiful natural/stained wood and other nice looking stuff getting painted white left and right and it's getting on my nerves. In my opinion it makes everything look boring. Oh, not to mention that it will look super dirty and gross in no time in an outdoor space.
It would have been so much water with a nice stain. Becky loves new Mexico/ Arizona color pallettes but paints all the wood white. Like what is up with that?
I have been following you girls for years now and you inspired me to DIY my living space. Been working for a while now and I am still on the process but I am not in a hurry. I just want to enjoy the process. Thanks guys for the inspection! Love you all!
Okay so I absolutely love most of the Sorry Girls design but this backyard space is not my favorite. The lighting is nice but everything else seems haphazard and kind of basic 🙈🙈. Please don’t hate me but I think it needs more creativity injected into it. Still a faithful fan ❤️
Agreed. There was clearly a lack of research for this transformation and there are so many things they're going to end up having to change down the line. It pays to do it right the first time.
They had no money. It was rushed because it was rushed that’s all. They did a gorgeous fantastic beautiful job of getting themselves outside into a wonderful space that was once so nasty.
@@DeborahCaldwell77 The thing is, this isn't someone who randomly posted a video, how they 'fixed up their yard'. The Sorry Girls have over 2 million subs, and are a legitimate force in the do it yourself world. Anyway, the points raised by so many are completely legitimate and accurate. And keep in mind people may duplicate at least one or some of the things they've done here. A costly, back breaking, possibly dangerous mistake. Meanwhile, I do look forward to their next video! : )
As a landscape designer, this was cringeworthy to watch...but kudos to you for the attempt.. it's nice, but you'll be full of weeds in 2 weeks. Never put soil on top of weed fabric. Mulch, chips, bark or rocks only. The best weed prevention is layered cardboard, newspaper, fabric with a topping of rock, bark etc. Never soil. Just FYI.
The weed mats I know of kill the soil and all the beneficial insects and microorganisms. They break down to put more micro plastics into our environment.
pizza boxes!!! they can’t be recycled because of the grease, so weedblockers are the perfect way to reuse them :) learned this from a local berry farm i volunteer at
I can’t believe you cut into the round tables. What was the point of them if you were just going to cut them off?? And to rob it of personality, I’m so sad at the loss.
I as well didn't understand it at first but after they put the big table top on it I understood that they want to be able to put so many people as possible on those tables and as they were round they could not do that. But I also thought that they were going to keep them round 😅
@@helenavo4088 see I understand that they wanted more people to fit but to destroy what made the tables unique just to put what looks like a basic ikea table top on top of the stumps just felt wrong. At that point just make a whole new table 🤦🏻♀️
@@anaklusmos17 i think it was just a cheap way of making a table. They probably got the spools for free and they are sturdy enough to hold a big table top, so not having to buy table legs was probably a way of cost saving
I agree with Becky on the lamp. It would be nice to see them go with some of Becky’s choices every now and then. Kelsey over runs everything and it kinda ruins it. :/
@@Trufriend61 But Kelsey didn't push for white, she literally just said she wanted it white, and Becky instantly agreed, she didn't have to push because nobody proposed an alternative.
i wish you guys spent more time on the weed removal/cleanup. like what tools you needed to clear everything out, how long it took, process to get and spread the soil, the electrical routing, and most importantly THE PRICES!
To me a potato bug I a big creepy looking Tan/yellowish bug that we would pick off the potato plants and feed to our chickens. Seriously Look up a potato bug/ Jerusalem cricket they are creepy looking
I couldn’t figure out why this video felt off.. I think it’s because they didn’t really do a good job establishing what they’re doing / what the space looks like before they jumped right into it. Idk
There was definitely some bits missing. No ‘looking at the design on procreate’ or discussing dimensions or anything. I think they were so excited to get it done they just jumped in there. Because they also missed many logistic parts of an outdoor space, hopefully they can go back in the future and fix it up
Exactly! I also feel like they could’ve used their sponsor to show what they’d do with the space instead of talking generally about the sponsor. I couldn’t really finish the video because it felt kinda rushed and blander than their normal content!
They should have consulted with a landscaper because they jumped into it without doing enough research. They used the weed barrier wrong and their ground covering isn’t going to grow like they’re expecting it to. They didn’t level or make solid any of the flagstone they put down so their chairs are going to wobble and sink. Basically they half assed it and as a result are going to be able to use the space as much as they want to. It’s going to be mostly dirt and mud all summer. And the mirror is gonna start a fire….
@@dinakarassane4123 i think it comes with age that you realize that you can't just go and do something. this was probably thousands of $$ wasted because they did so many things so terribly wrong
Stoooop I’m a graphic designer and creative director and I LOVE MILANOTE within the first month I signed up for the pro version. Y’all it’s so worth it🙌
You're gonna want to move those ground cover plants to the edge along the vine wall, because otherwise you're gonna trample the hell out of them and kill them.
I think even an hours worth of research before doing this would have helped. Soil on top of weed barrier? Mulch is cheap and would be loads better. Putting pavers directly on soil and using soil to build up around them? That’s a disaster waiting to happen. Spindly legs on their chairs in soil? That’s going to sink in no time. I’d say they’re inexperienced, but I dunno. This just seems….lazy? And only done for the views? I’m curious to see what it looks like at the end of the summer.
agreed, all I could think about was how many of us garden and floral creators would have been happy to help make a real design. Part of why landscaping is expensive is the very hard physical labor. Yes to make a paver patio you need to dig down, do a gravel base and lay sand etc but it really doesn't take that long. I've made 750 sq foot patios in a 3 day weekend and there are all sorts of skills that could have been showcased. If you ladies see this, rake the soil to the sides where you've planted, grab some cheap edging and dump some gravel around the table. It will be much more functional.
Asking another vendor to do something for free in the form of a “collab” is a pretty crappy way to work with someone. Landscapers can’t feed themselves with “exposure.” I think TSG understand that, and is why they chose to go it alone this round.
@@soffiegirl1027 true, but there might be some TH-camr on their area they could have collard with or even through zoom. I hope they take some of this advice for part 2
@@soffiegirl1027 Very true but there are those of us retired and not looking to make $$ or get exposure who would have been glad to make suggestions. I’m only 1/3 of the way through the video and already see so many problems. 1. Even with weed barrier you will eventually get weeds as weed seeds settle into the new soil or like at my house stone. It does help keep the weeds down but I would only use it under rock or pavers because... 2. I want to give my plants the most healthy soil as possible and the barrier will block the interaction between the new soil/original soil and all of the goodies like worms and bugs that help breakdown and mix those two mediums together. You need to give your soil nutrients annually and doing it chemically is not that earth friendly. 3. Planting on top of weed barrier also interrupts the ability for the roots of those plants to reach native soil. 4. Picking any plant up by the trunk and not giving it support underneath can stress the roots as that can be a lot of weight (even temporarily) on them. My last house all the beds had weed barrier put down. I could tell a designer or Landscape Architect had designed it because it was lovely but I have to tell you ladies it was a pain in the ass to remove plants I didn’t like or plant new things and I dreaded it. In all likelihood it was probably the homeowner who thought it was a good idea to put it down but it really did nothing to help the planting beds. On to finish the rest of the video.
from before to after looks great for a first go at an outdoor space! however, some notes from experience of doing my own garden: those ground cover plants are spaced way too far apart - they will take YEARS to properly cover all of the soil - until then it will just be a dirty/muddy mess... especially when it rains. Secondly, the weed barrier will do nothing for you here, as you've kept the soil exposed, weeds will still appear as seeds are spread by animals, the wind and some were already in the soil you put on top - would suggest something like bark as cover in the meantime. Personally I would have done either a fully paved patio, or some good quality astroturf and plant around the perimeter - much better for foot traffic in a business space and much less mess that will be tracked indoors. Regardless, hope you enjoy your outdoor space and look forward to more makeovers to come! Kelsey's garden??
These girls just went and created themselves a career where they can be paid for constantly redoing their own homes and shop for plants and DIY supplies. Genius! I am jealous 😅💜
The wire spools made me very nostalgic- my parents had two they painted blue and we used them as tables for our back yard for many years! Your table turned out great!
great job! The place was so overwhelming before! I'm looking forward to part 2! the backdoor could use paint and maybe a mural or a couch near the fire pit! I would make a cushions for the bench to sit on than just the wood!
I'm glad someone said this! The flagstone improperly installed, the soil over weed barrier, the painted table that will catch water and peel, the light fixture that looks so fragile, it feels like a lazy way to get a space done.
@@urmysunshine90 why would the painted table start to peel though? Paint is an excellent protective layer (if you use the right paint anyway). I did wonder why they only painted the top though...
@@jlammetje I have a wooden porch and no matter what type of paint I use, it always peels. Even on the parts where there are railings and no one walks. I think it's the winters that do it. Maybe since it's a table theirs will be better though!

I don't think some of the commenters recognise how difficult it is to landscape a large space like that, on a budget. To envisage it, design it then actually bring it together, are three very different stages. Some say just switch this out, you should have done "x", etc, but they probably have no idea about the enormity of that space. Sometimes you just want to get it done - so near enough is probably good enough. Because you're physically exhausted, mentally fatigued, and still got a project to finish!! You did well to use what you had, and the space looks cosy. I mean, you can always make further improvements as budget, time and necessity, permits. Don't let any negative comments, get you down, because it's a lot harder to do than watch! So top points for the doing. Quick suggestion though, check your local regulations for fire-pit clearances. There's a minimum recommended distance for near buildings and flammable materials. I don't know what they are in your local area, but maybe check for safety.
They installed it incorrectly. Generally, you put in under a pathway, stones, or mulch to reduce the weeding nessecarly in that area. They wasted their time and money by installing it this way.
I’m Danish. And apparently also supposed to be saying European. Except that there’s too many differences between countries to talk about nature and weather conditions and other garden related topics like that. I’ve used that barrier also, it’s quick and easy usually but also wasteful if done like in this video.
SMH the moment they piled on soil on top of the weed barrier. Should have just used cardboard if they were going to top it with soil. Cheaper and better for the soil. They've just set themselves up for a lot of future garden work.
Gosh, I cannot believe it has almost been a year already since you did this space. Seems like I was just watching this video for the first time. I love it, and hope your patio area brought TSG team many relaxed moments and well earned down time.

However, a couple of things:
-- Its going to be really muddy once it rains.

-- That tall plant in the corner, it has been planted too close to the wall. The roots are gonna grow underneath the foundation. Once it grows large enough, it will hardly take time to see cracks on those walls.

I would move the mirror and plants to the opposite wall, then find an up and coming artist to paint a mural on the whole wall behind the large table.
I don’t think they are allowed to paint the outside of the building though because it’s multiple offices and they don’t own the building

Love this idea if it’s an option with the landlord
If it isn't an option because of the landlord, I'd put a trellis against the wall or something else that will cover most of it.

Yes would love to see it how it’s come along
I was scared for all your cute outfits the whole video! You should make some cute sorry girls T-shirts or jump suits for the messy project!
Seriously! Idk why but this video really had me nervous for the outfits and feet in non protective footwear! (if something were to be dropped)
The fact that you made a back outdoor space that wasn’t even remotely cute, Into that within a few days really shows how talented and hard working you guys and the gang are. Looks insane compared to before!
Did they say how long it took them?
You needed to level and place sand for drainage before setting the slate rock pavers. It will also help chairs to sit more level.
And the plants are really close to the wall… sorry loves but I think you might need to redo a lot of this 💔
I'm so worried about the hammock's proximity to the fire pit!!
This comment should be on top!
The most adorable thing is hearing how supportive and admirative you are to one another. “You’re doing great sweetie” from Kelsey to Becky made my heart swoon. That is woman power: balance and support plus admiration of other women’s ideas. Thanks ladies you are the best!
sorry, i’m with becky on the lamp color. the white looks cheap. it would’ve been super cute just switching the cord for black
Yes. I like the space but while I don’t think it looks cheap, the white looks out of place, especially with the dark light cords and cement wall.
💯
I came here for this comment! The cord needed to be black. The black would have gone well with the original colour and blended into the other cords. The white colour of the pendent light makes it look plastic, where as the original colour gave it more of a metallic feel. I also wish the cord was longer or something so that it could have been tucked away better. The way it's hung is a bit of an eye sore.
I don't know why white wire makes me think of the dollar store. 😂
I hated that they painted it. I was like NO! Before it looked unique, it now looks like it came from dollar store.
This looks so beautiful and vibey, but it definitely hurt my heart when they painted over the wood on the mirror 💔
YES. thank you.
Me too I was like nooooooooooo :(
They paint most things either terracotta or white (like the pendant shade). It gets old.
Yes! Why?! I wish they would have kept the pendent original too!
I know 😭
so you put fresh soil on top of weed barrier? why? you will have weeds again in a minute...
LOL I didn't even think of this but so true.
I wondered the exact same thing
And mulch is so cheap! And it uses recycled wood! Such a fail… 😩
Haha I was thinking this too.... 🤣
@@marissal9707 I wondered why mulch wasn’t used as well
I'm a long-time subscriber and usually really love your transformations.
Yes, among other things it was quite cringeworthy!
That’s immediately what I thought of!
I have so many objections for this transformation. I don't even know were to start......
Thanks, landlord, for helping create this wonderful studio!
yep, a real fire in an industrial setting sounds like a terrible idea, at least that wont be lit too often

@@michimelody4036 good point. Colour elsewhere then. 😎
@@michimelody4036 Maybe a mural on a big linen drop cloth, then!

They’re not outdoors DIY experts or TH-cam channel, though.
Try GardenAnswer on youtube! She does the MOST BEAUTIFUL gardens!
Even the interiors are always missing something. Interior decorators lol
I agree :-) they could've collabed with a channel that does outdoor spaces, would've made for good (better!) content
Stunning ladies. Just be mindful of that evergreen so near the building. The root system has a habit of damaging foundations and that could end up costing you big time ❤️
You need a tray for the candles, so they don't drip on your table!
Sry but I think Becky was right. The color of the lamp was perfect as it was.
Yes and if they used black cable with it then it would have all tied in well.

I think it was made like that just for content, not really practical.
Agreed. There was clearly a lack of research for this transformation and there are so many things they're going to end up having to change down the line. It pays to do it right the first time.

Never soil. Just FYI.
Exactly like why even put it down if they are just gonna put more soil on top for weeds to grow in, it’s just gonna be a muddy mess when it rains.
The weed mats I know of kill the soil and all the beneficial insects and microorganisms. They break down to put more micro plastics into our environment.

I just feel like maybe you should’ve consulted an actual landscaper. There’s some on TH-cam that probably would’ve collabed with you for free.

It's a cute space, but it's entirely impractical long-term 😅

@@urmysunshine90 we painted the railing on my childhood home probably 5 times... I only lived there till I was 16 lol. The table will most likely peel but they do like painting so it shouldn't be a huge problem to them. I agree though, the snow is gonna destroy the paint fast
Love the transformation! I feel like that concrete wall would be even more awesome with a wall mural 🙂
I don't know what they are in your local area, but maybe check for safety.
when she cut the tops of the spool tables, before i knew they were adding the topper, i was like WHAT NO !!
cant wait to see the backyard after a month or too to see the plants grow in! part II cant come sooner !!
It'll take years for those little groundcover plugs to spread enough to cover all that soil. Hopefully they do an update each summer, though.
What the heck is a weed barrier? I'm European, we probably would've just thrown some grass seeds on the soil and be done with it ^^
Most of the time you put it under some kind of tiles, stones, so that no plants can grow
They installed it incorrectly. Generally, you put in under a pathway, stones, or mulch to reduce the weeding nessecarly in that area. They wasted their time and money by installing it this way.
as a european weed barrier is used regularly here as well
@@melanieg.9092 but it is not used the way they used it which might cause confusion
I’m Danish. And apparently also supposed to be saying European. Except that there’s too many differences between countries to talk about nature and weather conditions and other garden related topics like that. I’ve used that barrier also, it’s quick and easy usually but also wasteful if done like in this video.
working on a budget is tough, but you should have found a better base for those chairs, they are going to sink into the ground.
I'm thinking in time it'll have a deck and a lot more color/plant life.
