In this video, I'm going to show how to replace AC compressor on Acura TSX 2005. In video, you will see how to remove the alternator and how to remove the fan. You can also do this on Honda Accord models 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007. I hope this is helpful.

keep caps on before you install so it wont leak any new PAG oil anywhere, EZ enough when its in to remove those 2 caps. Good vid. Usually those are accessible from the bottom but yours looked like a top access.

Do the compressors come pre-filled with oil ?
Mine just blew up last week. With the start of winter here and not needing AC until spring can I operate my 04 TSX for a few months without causing any further mechanical harm? Very impressed with your skill and get it done attitude.
I don’t believe you need the compressor for your heater so I think you should be good with out the ac as long as the serpentine belt has the ability to spin freely on the compressor. And thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.
Thanks for the walk thru. I think you need to replace your condenser too bro, replace the desiccant, and flush out the evaporator. That black oil's telliin' me you had a catastrophic compressor failure and you need to get the contaminants out of the system.
Man where were you earlier. Lol. Yeah my compressor ended up failing about 2 months later after this replacement and I ended up selling the car with the ac broken. Man I miss this car. 😔
Hi thanks a lot for the video. How did you evacuate the ac lines. I mean how did you get the refrigerant out ? Did you use a recovery machine ?
Mine had a leak in the system so it slowly leaked out.
hi one question ,did you take out some oil from the new compressor to compensate the oil that is allready on the system from the old one compressor? .if not you are now above the pag oil capacity i think .
I’m not to sure but might be right on the capacity part.

I don't recall. I just picked one that had an average price.
I just installed an ac compressor for a 2004 Acura TSX, the new Compressor instruction said that I needed to remove the oil the came with the compressor, it is my first time doing this, I noticed that you didn't drain the compressor oil from your Compressor. Is it ok to leave the compressor oil in the compressor?
Maybe they had special shipping oil? I would follow their instructions. If they advise to drain it then I would do it. Just make sure you refill it with new oil as well.
i have a 2004 tsx automatic i was looking underneath and there’s oil leak not sure if is from the AC compresor or somewhere else is there O rings to replace ??
Not sure but u may want a mechanic to look at it.
Hey ik you prob wont respond but since my ac clutch doesn’t in gage it could be my relay right? Well i changed it right and its the same thing could it possibly be my ac clutch not working and i need to replace it ? If so should i change my whole compressor
Usually it’s easier to just replace the whole compressor.
I recently bought an acura tsx 2010 and the compressor is broken on it. I was wondering if i could replace it with one from a different year and if that would work. Or if i need the one specifically for that year. pls help
I think it depends on the what years your car generation falls on. Meaning if your style was from 2008-2010 for example than you maybe able to use like 2009 compressor but it’s best to double check though. Here is one I found on amazon that should work for your car.

Okay so I seem to have damaged a lot of the fins on my radiator while pulling the compressor and radiator in and out... Is this going to cause my car to overheat?
I'm not really sure. I wouldn't think so but I guess depends how much damaged it is.
Would the same ac compressor work on honda accord cl7 k24 2.4 2003
DRAY Blackwood I’m not 100 sure. I would imagine that it would since they practical look identical to tsx. But your safe bet is to verify with the seller or manufacturer.
@@Daddicated yea tsx is the same it had k20 engine i upgraded to k24
Just today picked up my 04 TSX, 96,000 miles from Honda dealer. New ac comp and belt a painful $2150.00. A bitter pill to swallow. 2 yr warranty parts, 1 yr labor.

Hi, I have a 2007 Honda Accord Type S from Japan. Would this A/C compressor work for me?
It may since Honda and Acura are the same but you can check on amazon by inputs your car model to verify.

I took it out without removing the alternator. It comes out easy. However, the fan and water must be removed... thanks,

You may have to enter the anti-theft code for the stereo to work. The code usually can be found in the glove box.

Umm. Odd. You may want to reach out to the seller. My plugged right in without any issues.
Daddicated do you remember removing anything from the connector prior to install? I did notice this connector has a piece around the prongs that the other ac compressor didn’t. And I noticed that your new compressor had the same piece in it
No, I didn’t have to do anything to the compressor connector other than just plug it in.
Why did you take the alternator off? 12mm socket fits fine when you take the fan out. And the compressor fits through

wish i saw the part about the refrigerant line before i just took it off normally. neighbors thought a bomb went off and still tasting ac refrigerant in my mouth 3 hours later

Releasing freon into air is illegal. And being able to smell and get gassed from refrigerant is completely harmful too.

If there's oil all over the area where both the lines go into compressor is that oil leaking out of the compressor? When my son starts up his car said oil starts pooling out? He drove thru a deep puddle of water on road and car shut off.. He swapped out plugs coils and wires.. When he starts car oil starts pouring out bottom and sounds like airplane... I'm not near him so its hard doing the fix it ideas thru text but any ideas?
You don’t have to take off the alternator. The compressor fits in between the engine and condenser when you take off the fan.
I figured it would be just easier to take it off.
So you just removed the fan and then the 4 bolts for the ac compressor? After loosening the tensioner?

I was told by a Honda mechanic that at the dealership where he worked they removed the a/c compressor from the bottom. Do you know if that is legit?
Well that’s probably because they have a nice lift that allows their mechanics to practically stand under the car. So for them yes they probably take it out from underneath.

Ur suppose to add oil to it. But some come pre oiled too so just depends what you bought.
Hey I did my ac compressor just recently and I had a leak issue with the low pressure line where the line meets the compressor. Does your LP AC line have like a o ring or spacer ?? I’m completely confused
I honestly don’t remember but it’s best to replace all o-rings when your working on the ac unit.
Daddicated i bought the whole part brand new it didn’t come with any o rings. Still lost ..😞👎

Check the o-rings on your lines not the compressor. The compressor wouldn’t have o-rings. If any there would be on the lines themselves. Try to find an ac diagram for your car online. That may help.

Just look up any local private car mechanic in area should be able to do it fairly cheap

Depends on which one you buy. Some require to add some already have it in it.
Why did you change it?
Cuz my clutch was broken and it made noise
When ac compressor is bad the car makes weird noises right ? Because of it
Usually it makes like a clicking sound if the clutch on the compressor is bad and if your ac stopped working. But in general cars can make weird noises for multiple reasons.
That or if your experienceing a rattle sound when your in drive at idle it's oil pump timing chain tensioner
so how did you know it needed to be replaced? did you check fuses or test your relays before just replacing the whole compressor because Yesterday i went to the AC guy and he vacuumed and recharged my AC but the compressor was not engaging. he used a power probe to check some fuses and the coil and clutch. He said it was the compressor and the whole thing needed to be replacement i was like UMm no it could be the relay or the coil thats bad.
after he recharged i told him i was going to be my own troubleshooting and with in 30mins got it running, the relay and or coil was stuck. and i got COLD AC and only paid $50 for the recharge.
That’s awesome. My clutch on the compressor was making a grinding noise so it was pretty obvious in my case that the compressor has gone bad.
@@Daddicated I see. Sometimes you can just replace the clutch and coil its about $105. I did the coil clutch swap on my girls Hyundai pain in the ass but it was a learning experience .
Yeah I thought about it but didn’t want to take the risk of the compressor ruining another clutch if something was truly wrong with the compressor too. So I figured I would just swap the whole thing.
@@Daddicated so you didnt need to replace the expantion valve? I have one to do on a 2007 tsx . Customer states she heard a grinding sound before it quit working . How long did this take start to finish?

David Forsythe I didn’t replace it but it’s recommended that you replace it as well Incase it’s bad too. I would say 2-3 hours.
there is the part # 38810RBBA01, but for the love of god, every ebay compressor is a 1 wire plug but both the 2004 and 2006 are 3 wire plug WHY are there different even tho 20 listings claim it will fit 2.4L tsx???

@@Daddicated well I found this my own answer last night hopefully this helps other people in my situation it's a three-pin plug because the middle one provides power to the magnetic coil the two pin wires on each end are the over Thermo overload protector the original coil has two wires coming from the coil one is power and when is ground
@@Daddicated the aftermarket magnetic coils come with one wire only which provides power to the magnetic coil it has its own ground already or in this case internally grounded so you'll have to use your original 3-pin plug
@@Daddicated and most aftermarket compressors don't come with stud do you have to use your original studs or get long it 10 mm bolt
