Here’s the MOST important tip that I’ve learned: Fall in love w the process. If you want to make videos everyday , do it! If you want to focus on shorts do that too! Whatever u chose , fall in love w the process of making that better everyday and don’t watch your sub count. 🎉
I’ve been on this journey for multiple years. I’m about to break 800 and know I can hit 1000 by the end of the year. Stay humble! Knowing I have a lot to learn has improved my growth substantially!
Can I add a 16th brutal reason? You aren't collaborating. Some of these problems can be helped with collaboration. While you're improving at Brutal Reasons 1 - 15, work with other channels / creators who are already good at these things. Be a guest on their channel. Bring them on as a guest on yours. They'll help make your videos better. Plus you'll be able to reach new viewers who wouldn't have found you any other way. We don't grow alone.
what is the best way to collab with creators? I tried DM on Insta but most people wouldn't accept message until they follow you(which is impossible). I don't know how to get their emails.
The key to success is delusion. Either you believe in yourself and still fail 99% of the time or you don't believe in yourself and fail 100% of the time. Still, we only have one life, so to spend your whole life on that 1% chance of success is still delusional. Might as well just work at Amazon and earn more money than you'll ever earn on TH-cam IN JUST ONE MONTH.
😁 I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT! The Lord is in control, not algorithm. 🙏🏼❤ Pray the Lord Jesus blesses everyone's channel to do his will. That number WILL Always be higher. 🙏🏼❤
bro shorts is the best way to get subs, but you have to make it engaging ( like telling them to subscribe). Im still trying to get 4000 hours watch time after 8 years on youtube, thats the really hard part (im currently on 2900 hours)
I’ve been chasing my TH-cam dream since 2016, creating and deleting over 12 channels along the way. It’s been a tough journey with many setbacks, but this time, I’m locked in and not giving up, GOOD Luck if you have same story.
Bro, i had the same issue, but if you're depressed, i wanna tell you something, trust Jesus, let him into your heart, he'll save you from any anxiety, depression, etc. Trust me, it also worked for me. Anyways keep grinding on youtube, i am also a youtuber (roblox), trust me, bro! You will grow! ❤
You will definitely get more subscribers, if you learn how to edit, and make longer videos. Also you should spend more time creating your profile picture and creating thumbnails.
Man don't worry about this. It's very hard. You have to believe in you, but also don't look too much at the numbers at the beginning. You have to start, try to upload something, look at contents from other creators as suggested here to improve. In the meanwhile, enjoy the process! Views are important, but not the only important thing. I'm at like 30 subscribers now After a bit more than a month and only now I start getting some comments (i.e. like 3 or 4 in Total 😅) but that's fine. You got this! The fact that you're here means that you care about your videos, it's Just matter of time.
I eat boring for breakfast... I'm finding every animal in the UK on my channel, I'm super close to 1000 subscribers now! Thanks for all the great advice! I hope everyone reaches their TH-cam goals soon 😁
@@LeaderOfArmourStands you'll get there bro, best advice I've heard so far is just to improve one thing every time you make a video, then you'll get way better over long periods!
And the crazy part is that I was literally about to hit 1000 subscribers but then I lost like almost 20 subscribers in the past week and now I’m stuck to about 980 subscribers and I never got unstuck since. 😭😭
I technically havent, but im close! 947 subscribers asbim typing this. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the best of luck to other small TH-camrs out there, keep working! Youve got this! 💪
It’s very hard! Probably my channel is slowing a lot bc I’m close to reach 500 subscribers and been not exposure for about 3 weeks. I have subscribers that unsubscribe and don’t know what happens meanwhile people that follow me are saying they love my videos. I don’t really understand but if I reach 500 I won’t run to ask for money as a content creator. I know all goals for people on this stunning platform is to make money, I’m a free lance makeup artist that buy all my things.
Just got accepted to YPP! 🎉Was eligible to apply upon 5 months of joining, applied and got rejected.😭 Took almost 2 months to figure out that the 'replicated content' reasoning was because of an interview video we have up (it's up on the interviewer's channel) 😅. This journey (so far) has been interesting to say the least... So to those who are frustrated and confused on their way to becoming monetized, we hear you... you're not alone and don't give up! As 'annoying' (and sometimes silly) as this journey can be, make sure that you're having fun in the process and you'll get there! 🙌
@@Shifytee123 Absolutely my impressions count sucked so bad on my last video I only got 26 views. Usually get 120 or so. Some a couple thousand and one at 130K. I didn’t understand (or appreciate) the change.
MR VID IQ. I am so grateful for the on going knowledge! I finally surpassed 1K subs from one video. You’re a legend. The information from all these videos are so amazing. Just now time to focus on growing. Going to dive more into the niche and expand out woulds. I know doing so can have a split audience, but I think with gaming, it isn’t good to have everything in one basket. I’m trying to stay in a niche, but I think expanding and trying different things every now and then can’t hurt. My role is, 80% what is working, 20%, test, see what else works. 😊
anyone reading this, you will learn from experience and it may come fast or slow, but it is possible for anyone biggest suggestion I have as someone who hit 1k in 1 month, target small niches that you enjoy and make a plan on how to expand whilst still keeping your original audience interested once you have 5k+ or something
@@pczm_ this! I hit 1k in 29 days, the only thing I would add to this is to look at what everyone else is doing in the niche and do something at least as good, but done in an original way. I made mine more artistically different and more laid back by adding humour.
I am a 12 years old boy. I love your videos Rob❤. You really encourage people to watch. I will make sure all my YT friends suscribe and watch your videos. I really appreciate you
I just hit 2000 subscribers this year. And it seemed as soon as I did, TH-cam stopped listing how many subscribers a creator has... I've reached 2500 subscribers and now no one knows. It doesn't seem fair.
I genuinely want to understand. Why is your advice “hey stop selling chicken wings to vegetarians”? There’s an audience for chicken wings. How do I find the audience that I want instead of changing my content to fit the vegetarians that have accidentally stumbled across my channel?
I’ve gotten 100 subs and now, I haven’t gained a single sub for 2 days straight. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, and after watching this video and realizing what I’ve done wrong, I’ll try to fix it and hope to gain at least one.
@@XshadydestroyerX it happens lol just know the Growth will come randomly. Trust me you want ppl who subscribe to ya becuz they enjoy the content! Not ppl subbing just cuz and that happens a ton. Take it from me I’ve had so many encounters of ppl telling me they subbed to only unsub moments later 🤣
We are at 949 subscribers after 5 years. Some of these issues we had on our channel and we improved or are continuing to improve. We won’t give up. I know the algorithm is against us small channels but we just got to keep grinding. Best of luck to fellow small channel's!
*Wow, this video really hit home! It’s so easy to get discouraged when growth is slow, but understanding these common pitfalls makes all the difference. Now I’m more motivated to keep pushing forward. Great content as always!*
my channel is meant to be "boring" because its a relaxation zone, yet I am gathering tips and will try on a second channel to create hooks and tease info etc...thanks for the tips VidIQ
I’ll be honest, I expected to have way more views and watch hours after hitting the 1k subscriber milestone. At first, I thought it was because of my content or video length, but over time, I realized that consistency is key. I know it sounds repetitive, but on TH-cam, there's no other answer: just hard work! 1750 subs - still not monetised, but now I can see that on a radar, because I know what I have to do so and you should if you’re here to stay😅 There’s no point of wasting your time otherwise 😉
Keep creating. Not every video can be 100% simply accumulate data, keep consistent, let the algorithm recognize your channel, and stay in the same niche
There's only 1 reason: TH-cam doesn't recommend your videos to anyone. I don't even get impressions these days. If I were to type the exact title of my videos on TH-cam search, it would take 30 minutes of scrolling through a bunch of unrelated videos before mine finally shows up💀
I have one of my videos titles "Greenstalk vertical planter UK" and TH-cam point blank refused to surface in front of my audience at all. In search it pretended it didn't exist. VidIQ are like "There is limited real-estate, your content needs to be better to get shown at the top" Groovy Tuesdays, but your story needs more purple and dinosaurs to be convincing, because if I type in "Greenstalk vertical planter UK" mine is the ONLY video that should be at the top of the feed, not three damn US videos, and then a ton of unrelated crap. Aside from if I filter for location, TH-cam outright claimed they have no video at all matching my search term. So, I used VidIQ Boost to 'fix' the SEO.... did it do anything to fix it with the titles and desc ription it scored lower than mine? NO it did not. Have VidIQ asked to speak to me about all the after the numerous times I've told themn about all this and TH-cam/Google's scummy behaviour? Of course not, they just make terrible videos like this telling people it's our fault that YT/Google are unethical, and the system is broken.
FR im trying my best. Im being very consistent, im not all over the place, im listening to my audience and so on. But my growth is very slow. im just trying be ignore that and be patience
Iv been on yt for over 4 years now and I’m at 277 subs and there have been many times I thought people just don’t like me, I should give up but I created my art channel to spread awareness about being an artist on the spectrum and help others like me express themselves through art and if I gave up I wouldn’t help anyone or do what I love so I won’t give up, I have passion and these videos have helped me so much. I know I will get there, even if it takes years.
Sadly this is accurate, I have discovered people do not like my content a ton. My channel is about good people and heroes but I don’t think it’s what people want.
I looked at your channel. I totally agree with the other commenter about long form content but I’m also looking at your titles. You’re right, people don’t necessarily like stories about do-gooders when phrased that way. You need a good hook. The one entitled “The Diplomat that Defied the Holocaust” did really well. “Would You Help During the Holocaust” tanked. These two videos were covering very similar topics but one did well and one didn’t. You now need to EXAMINE what you did in the first that worked and double down on that and figure out what didn’t work in the second and stop doing it. All the information you need to do better is right there on your own channel! You’ve got this!
Thanks for the "brutal" reasons! Now I get the benefit of making my channel a chore rather than a fun thing to do without those pesky answers that help me get rid of these reasons. (Seriously though, I upload videos of myself playing video games and every tip you gave is for education/cooking)
1,000 subscribers here we come. Thanks, VidIQ, for all the help. I've been watching your content for the past 3 years! Cheer's to all you, fellow creators! Remember ya'll keep grinding daily. 💪🦊
I'm completely lost for words and getting demotivated. I have this gaming channel that gotten popularity about 10 years ago and i got up to 8,000 subscribers. i quit and started this channel back up for car content as of recently. The only problem i'm having is my videos are just not getting any views. Idk if my subscribers are bots because its just so inactive. I do have some videos that got taken down due to copyright. i put so much work into my videos with humor and positivity while learning how to build a sick drift car but It's such a dream and motivation killer for me as i want to do youtube as a career. Should i start a new channel to remedy this? Keep going on this channel or just give up completely :,(
Yes, of course you start a new channel. The algorithm doesn’t know who to pitch your channel to because you’ve got mixed niche content. So the algorithm just pitches your channel all over the place and isn’t finding your audience. 100% yes, start a new channel. Don’t have mixed niches on one channel.
I just reached 1,000 subs after about 45 days of doing TH-cam! Very very blessed 🙏🏽 Feel free to ask me any questions and I can reply to them on this comment! 👍🏽
@@DecentGamer88 Thank you. I try to publish one video every 5 to 6 days. I think that's a good pace. The creation process is so darn difficult. I understand why more people are not successful at TH-cam. Making videos, is really hard work. Takes me a good 4 to 5 days to create a video, 6 hours a day. Outline, story, editing, choosing photos and video.
I began watching your videos around 6 months ago and implemented the advice from the outset of my channel. I'm happy to report that I've hit 1000 subscribers and almost at 4000 watch hours after 4 videos. Thanks for the great content and help!

I'm waiting so much for comments on my videos! I got some, but not so many until now. I'm trying to use posts to engage a bit. I'm looking for what other roguelikes videogame channels are doing to find some inspiration. I'm trying also to improve the storytelling aspect that right now is, well, improvised. I think it's a bit more difficult with game channels, especially with "let's play" or similar videos. Finally, I'm trying to improve my editing skills. When I saw the notification of this video, I thought "well, I'm at 3k already, I probably won't watch it", but I was bored and thought this maybe would have some useful information I didn't know, and that was true, even people over 1k subs can find this useful. Thanks VidIQ.
For that last one, isn't that a youtube problem? Like you're creating what you like, but the audience isn't resonating. Doesn't that mean youtube should push to an audience that will?
As someone trying to make it and nearly drowning in the A.I. oversaturated world of creepy story narrations; I can assume that your channel of a.i. art is unfortunately just a drop in the ocean of similar content. Perhaps you'll have to pivot to something less commonly available for others to design so readily.
When the going is tough, its the tough that gets going!!! Never STOP moving forward. I am a small channel yet still trying. But I love this advice. Even some wony work for my channel - audiobooks
I started my channel in May and have gained 7,000 subscribers, but I'm struggling with watch time. Every time I make progress, it seems TH-cam removes it for some reason.
A brutally personal reason: I’ve gotten so frustrated by a video underperforming that I’ve halted my creative process for too long. Don’t do this-it only delays your learning process on TH-cam. You have to keep uploading videos and ALWAYS improve one or two aspects in each one. Every video is an opportunity to put new tips into practice
Pausing the video to add something to my TH-cam tasks and to do list. Going over old videos and analyzing the title, thumbnail and rewatch the video to see if there’s something I can use for a title change. Will see if it brings some spark ⚡️ and potentially light a fire 🔥 to some older content. Question though: how often should you change titles? Only if the video is under performing? Only after it’s been on the platform for a set amount of time? I tend to change titles about 3 times shortly after a new video goes on TH-cam. But what about older content?
You're doing better than I! I've made 70+ videos & only have half the subs you do. There are many variables, just keep going & learning. We'll all make it some day

Been making videos for a few months now. Over 60 videos and only 28 subs. It’s been a slow process but I’m enjoying it. I pray I catch a break at some point and gain an audience though. Just trying to stay positive. I hope anyone else struggling catches a break too 🤞🏻🙌🏻

Captions can definitely help, don't always rely on the auto-generated CC. As a person that has lost a significant amount of hearing, captions will increase "accessibility" to more "deaf" people. Greater accessibility improves visibility of your channel. Captions are also good for "quiet" spaces when earphones/headphones are not accessible. An example could be public transit, it's disrespectful, and taken very seriously in some parts of the world, to have phone speakers blaring which other people don't want to hear that noise. A library is another example, break rooms at work, internet café, restaurants, etc., so something to keep in mind. Also, especially for the English speaking, though, it does apply to certain other languages, captions can be super useful if you have a certain accent or dialect. A prime example would be British English and American English. Captions take extra work, however, there is always more room to grow in some form or another. If you need even just a tiny bit of an edge to grow, use any way you can. There are many benefits to captions, and maybe you caught the captions in this video. Hope this helps an adventurous creator.
You guys make the same (or very similar) videos over and over, and I still enjoy watching every time😂 it sounds like an insult but it’s not people love hearing these things and you guys have helped encourage me if nothing else! My channel has grown to 800 subs in 3 months due to me being involved in my niches community and adding value and inspiration for others to my videos, keep it up everyone and stay involved 🎉
I hit 400 subs in one week but then I lost motivation bc I didn’t like playing adopt me anymore. I’ve been trying to convert over to doing all Roblox gameplay stuff and I think I’m starting to see some kind of change in the views and it’s all thanks to your tips and videos! Thank you! It’s not an easy task but it’s working!
I've hit just over 600 subs after 3 weeks. Maybe what i did was a fluke but i released a lot of videos in the first week and am now doing 3 videos a week. Im in a competitive niche of hardstyle. I also found that advertising my content from the very start helped get my content in a lot of peoples search history which really helped with organic impressions building up fast. Its still needs a lot of work but im getting around 10k impressions on each new video and the impressions grow after each video. My click through rate isnt the best at around 1.8-1.9% on average but its growing. From what ive seen Ads plus lots of content works!
Very helpful tips! Thank You for making this video! Not gonna lie Brutal Reason #1 sums up my channel pretty well. I went from making Comedy Skits to Self-help videos and then went back to skits. I believe this is why my growth has stagnated because I confused my audience on what content and channel they subscribed to.
You know what would be a great idea on TH-cam? If they were able to create a feature where we can choose not to have our video recommended on a person's home page or suggested sidebar. That would work nice for SEO based channels that don't want to suffer from the current Algorithm or if they wish to shift their channel's direction such as myself. On one hand, I would feel guilty to remove my videos for my audience that are watching, but on the other hand, I need to remove them in order to work well with the Algorithm...
About 3 weeks ago I started uploading consistently everyday and the growth was going great! I went from 150 subs to 483 and I just hit my 4000 watch hours in that amount of time, but for some reason it seems like I’ve just hit a wall . I know being that it’s only been 3 weeks that’s clearly not a lot of time to say I “hit a wall” but relatively speaking I’ve been stuck at 480 for awhile now.
I found my focus a few months ago, AI music videos and short films. Since then I have gone from less than 25 subs to now being at 328 so while it's not viral it is on a steady climb. The only thing holding me back is a decent computer to work on.
Thank you Vid IQ sometimes I think you're speaking directly to me lol.. 😂 I've been consistent in posting about 2 things I am passionate about. I'm just going to keep putting in the hard work. I'm at 615 Subs and started in March of this year. I wish everybody good luck and just to keep posting on what you are passionate about❤
My channel reached 200 subs and I was really excited, but then, nothing much changed except that my quality has increased... No views. Man, it's just so hard to hook people for Animated short-film Channels
I am having the same issue. I do a movie review channel and wonder if it is a dying art in a sense for TH-cam. I also am competing with so many other movie review channels. I have to keep trying though. Don’t give up!
I stopped my channel 3 years ago and got around 1.4k subs. it was doing ok I think BUT I realized that I couldn't talk about the same 'niche topic' over and over again. Heck, I'm not even doing that in real life !!! Since you always tell us to never switch topics/niches, is there any way to do it without losing the few subs that I already have?
Algorithm will change. We will be able to get views on a multitude of topics. What will change is subscriber growth. Reasoning AI. AI will be able to understand each and every video and match content to the user on an individual basis.
It's the AI that's screwing us into the ground. Rob just won't admit it's already happening to a lot of us, or that TH-cam and Google directly discriminate against a lot of channels. They need you to believe YT is perfect, that you are at fault so you'll pay for their products. It literally makes ZERO difference to the algorithm. I know, I've used it.
Growing an audience is SUPER difficult and the algorithm, at times, seems completely random. My niche is, I believe, very difficult for the algorithm to find an audience, as every video isn't targeting a specific thing. My titles are tough to write, and the thumbnails are difficult to make eye catching. The thing that I enjoy (as disheartening as it is) is that every video I make is better than the last. And hopefully one day, one of these videos is good enough to be noticed and the audience is found.... But man, what an emotional rollercoaster this is. Some great brutalities in this vid for sure.
My friend and I make music based content and even after watching tons of videos like this, we don't know how to apply these tips into our videos. Would love if someone reading can give us some pointers
I recently became a yt partner but only the 500 subs milestone (peaked at 732). the sub count has been slowly tanking ever since. it's taken over 500 vids but I'm not giving up lol
Here’s the MOST important tip that I’ve learned: Fall in love w the process. If you want to make videos everyday , do it! If you want to focus on shorts do that too! Whatever u chose , fall in love w the process of making that better everyday and don’t watch your sub count. 🎉

I’m trying to stay in a niche,
but I think expanding and trying different things every now and then can’t hurt. My role is, 80% what is working, 20%, test, see what else works. 😊
Another brutal reason is that I've already forgotten over 10 brutal reasons, right after watching this video.
anyone reading this, you will learn from experience and it may come fast or slow, but it is possible for anyone
biggest suggestion I have as someone who hit 1k in 1 month, target small niches that you enjoy and make a plan on how to expand whilst still keeping your original audience interested once you have 5k+ or something

Almost 10% of the way there!
First thing is that you don't have up to 10k subscribers and a lot of views
So to TH-cam you don't have a great track record
Fair enough.
My channel is about good people and heroes but I don’t think it’s what people want.

start postings long form content and not doing only shorts. You might start gaining traction eventually.

Yes, of course you start a new channel.

me with 5k subs in 3 months but the watch hours are pain...
I am actually doing everything right but nothing much to show for it. I'm convinced that TH-cam has favourites.

The road to 1k subscribers could be long or short. Just trust and enjoy the process but With consistency and continued learning you get there one day.
I notice that when TH-camrs recommend their other videos, those videos have already been created.
As someone who is trying to start and get good this helps a lot even if it’s brutal thanks mate

Great tips! Thanks for telling me this!

How can you give feed back on the chrome plugin ? I was trying it last night but the thumb nail tool was having issues.
