Ahhh, right in the nostalgia. When we stop playing this game we’ll look back on it so fondly. I didn’t think I’d be playing this for 6/7 years when I first downloaded it 💀💀💀
This is kinda bittersweet. Seeing how big SMITE started and what it is now is saddening. Wish I could have seen the game when it had all those regions. I once again say, SMITE should be WAY bigger than it is.

@Haakonson A lot of people disliked the removal of boots, the constant item shakeups that broke the meta and seemed like an oversight, the introduction and removal of systems, lazy fixes like invasion curse to end metas, etc.
I first played before season one began, then rejoined around season 3- just to rage quit and not play until season 5. Feels like a toxic relationship that I finally managed to work out now. Happily married to smite for almost 5 years now
Started in late 2012 to early 2013 and it was really cool to see the changes and improvements made in such a tangible way other than through fading memories or a wiki thread. Haven't played since Gilgamesh's release, but with the decade anniversary coming up (which i didnt know until i finished this video sadly), I have to jump in and get my feet wet purely for nostalgia.
You forgot to mention in Season 4, Shield of Regrowth was added to the Emerald item tree, allowing gods like Chang'e pick it up, which led to the reason why she has never been seen since.
Bro wether you're a relic or just love to study this stuff, it's always appreciated. I love knowing more about how smite used to be, and have been watching your old vids and frosts old stuff on repeat recently and it's just so interesting to see how metas used to be, what changed to make them not as meta, etc.
First started playing right at the very tail end of Season 7. Would love to have witnessed a lot of the adventure modes that came before then, but I definitely do not regret starting when I did.
This is the best Smite video I've watched in a long time. Those 40 minutes felt like 4. Thanks for all your work bro, and don't forget to watch my nene
I started playing Smite in early 2014 (and sadly missed out on Cacodemon Ymir by 2 or 3 levels) and I played it a ton until mid-late 2015, where I gradually played less Smite since I was getting into League. I stopped playing Smite altogether somewhere in 2016, between Fafnir and Erlang's releases. I started playing it again last year and, as of now, I play it every so often with my friends, with whom I used to play back then. I still like League better overall, but I have fond memories of Smite and usually have fun playing it too. It really is crazy how much the game has changed since 2014.
I remember I got into this game during season 1 when serqet got released. It was huge when she stopped being a top pick/ban after YEARS of dealing with her.
Nice vid! I appriciate how long looking into each season must have taken. Smite is one of those games I've been able to play off and on for years. Def one of my top 5 games of all time.
What a video dude! Im sure this took a while to make, and as someone who just started playing smite mid season9 (july ‘22) i had no idea about a lot of this stuff. Thanks for the great content intersect
Great video. It's weird to see how Smite is one of those games whose player base pretty much expects it it to die at some point. But somehow still keeps going cus of some wacky gems coming from the devs (Cthulu realease, Smite cars, crossovers). As a free-to-play I also feel that its cosmetics are one of the most reasonaby priced out there. Hard to believe that I've been playing this game for almost 8 years now.
I'll never forget my first time playing. Chronos had just been released, and a couple of friends from Uni and I met up for a lan party. Neith was my first God because I had just paused playing my hunter in WoW, so she seemed a natural fit. Can't believe it's been almost 10 years
I started playing back when Hou Yi was the newer god and then Bellona was the first character release I witnessed, this video gave me such nostalgia 💗. Love ur content, keep it up 🥰✨
Exactly the same for me, I can still vividly remember the Bellona main menu (and how busted she was lol). That was when I was 14 and now i'll be graduating uni next year, the nostalgia is real.
I didn't know I started playing on S1, the first god release I saw was Serqet. During that time some people had the beta player profile picture. Really fun times.
I started playing this game when Erlang Shen came out and you did a phenomenal job annotating everything! 🙏🏽 It was nice knowing what happened from seasons 1-3. I appreciate the hard work you put in this video and as always looking forward to your next videos 🔥
I started a little before season 1 and quit playing for a year or 2 after release Bellona just wore me down (I never saw release Guan so this was hands down the most bust god release I had and have since ever witnessed). I still followed the pro scene though and this video brought back some great memories. The game has had its highs and lows but always pulls me back in, an entertaining game if nothing else.
Hearing that Mages couldn't fvxk with tanks back in Season One...can we go back to that please? I'm sick of my 325 of both protections builds getting 2 shot bc mages are broken 🙃
Great recap, but I feel like you neglected to mention when Xbox went into closed/open beta and launch. It was awesome. Having played in smites closed alpha with the utility stat and other wild action when I got into the Xbox beta after not playing for a year was crazy
I played smite from the nox release until the middle of season 3 and haven't touched it since. This video has me very interested in returning. Should I wait for season 10 or just hop in?
I played this game from before season 1 to season 4-5 and just now rejoined playing this game. Tbh idk why I left. It’s pretty fun and relaxing if you don’t care about winning 24/7
Seeing everything I’ve played through since Izanami release. Swapped to pc after baba released. So excited to be at worlds for the first time ever this year. So excited for Season 10 and what Smite can do!!! Always love the content!
It’s so weird to think of gods like baron samedi as being new and then seeing this video and seeing that they’ve already been out in circulation for years
You're not alone in thinking that the season 2 conquest map had the best visual design, it's my favorite too! Also I see you rocking that BG3 music lmao
I played in beta when it was side jungles and you could have every buff so junglers were op as hell. I quit playing around season 4, so many changes that just made things not fun. Have some good memories of the game though. I feel like smite couldve competed with the big mobas if hirez knew what they were doing.
It hurt's and makes me want to play again to watch this video. I started playing back in beta. I can't remember if it was Bacchus or Xbalanque that was the newest god at the time, I'm pretty sure it was Xbalanque when I started, but I also have a vague memory of Bacchus being new, but that could just be from people telling me that while I played. When Thanatos was added I took one look at his kit and said "yep, he's my first Legendary" (this of course was before the diamond skins). His kit was so much more dangerous at the time. his abilities took % of TOTAL health, not current, his 1 took 10% health, his 2 was 5%, his 3 was 10%, and his ult was 15%. They made his 3 regular abilities all 5% of current health and his ult is now 10% of current, but at one time, just to use your full kit you had to sacrifice 40% of your health. Granted, you use one death scythe and you've got it back, let alone if you get a kill during the fight, or have lifesteal. He played so much differently back then, I dominated on him, average 10.5 kills a game, 4.7 deaths, only god I have with more than a 2.0 k/d across all games. 188 games, 102 wins, 86 losses. Got him 1200 worshippers before I stopped playing him though. Of course I subsequently picked up Hel upon her remodel and now she has my highest win rate of 73%. Thanks for the trip through the memories. Kind of want to go play again haha.
Season 1 and 2 was the last time I was really keeping up with competitive. Pretty sure I got fed up with some rager in ranked and that’s what brought me to assault. Dig was the bomb.
The two metas the live rent free in my head from early smite is definitely the dirty bubble meta and tank boots meta from season 3 when all the assassins would build tank boots and be unkillable the rest of the game
Just like in League gold gain was ignored till it was being used to rush some builds then getting nurfed to hell even though it's strong in any build and always will be.

I was destroying a conquest lobby in 2012 when my wife went into labor. Me and Eonjc met in MW3 and I introduced him to the game. Felt great seeing him take it to the pro level and win.
