That’s definitely true. The bad release we got was a bad thing that needed to happen. After all the feedback and player gameplay testing, the future is looking pretty damn promising
Where it's at today is still subpar compared to Smite 1 imo. You would think they would copy paste Smite 1 and build upon that, instead it's like they didn't learn from over 10 years of Smite 1 patching... and instead are trying to add mechanics from other MOBAS to appeal to their player base.
@ They can’t copy paste a lot stuff due to the two engine generation jump. A lot of stuff has had to be completely rebuilt from the ground up, including the basic, most foundational code of the game. If they hadn’t released Smite 2 when they did, this upcoming Open Beta release would be further back than we are now. And the big Hi-Rez layoffs didn’t help.

So hiring new people would have required them to all have brand new training on the custom engine just so they could not use it as they would be in ue 5 anyways. I’m happy to see Smite 2 shaping up from the launch of the Alpha. It feels like they’ve done quite a bit in a really short time and some of that was just catching up to what Smite 1 has done in 11 years more or less. If they keep a similar pace the future will be exciting.
Still dont like CC buffering for leaps specifically, but most changes i think are fire i feel like the 3k pot stacking and luxury items are a bit much tho since its hard enough to get ppl to ward in ranked games around fg etc come late and now they will justify it with saving for another 3k pot. Especially on hybrid scaling picks
Agreed on Leaps, I do think they should be addressed differently. Either non-bufferable or at least the full CC duration applies after the leap completes, not ticking down mid-air.
They should maybe do something with the lighting on the joust map. I like the design but it kinda looks bland. What do you think of a more sunset theme? Also do you think Hirez would ever add some sort of a time setting transition effect that makes it where the map goes from Day-to Night or vice-versa. It'd be random if you start the match during the day or night. That could be something that adds a little variety to each map, but curious of what you think. Seems like a lot of really good things being added. I was hoping for all 5 new gods being out by this time but they still have a while longer to go before the official release of the game, they still went a long time before something new was added. I do like they're porting gods over at a larger rate, I feel a majority of the gods are in decent spots so they don't need too much changes to being brought over much faster. I honestly do like the updates they've done with the gods so far though I feel Zeus probably should have had more changes (he should have had a dash where he turns into an eagle) and Yemoja should have had passive changed (she's going to dominate the competitive scene until she gets nerfed into the ground to become useless again). I feel they could have done a little more with the Joust map and the side jungles in Conquest. I think the Chinese map is the best they had but needed a little more stuff on the side but not as much as the Corrupted Jade map, that one was too much. With the Conquest I think having some sort of mobile camp or turret objective would have been neat, something that makes ganks from that side jungle more difficult.
I'm so glad they did the alpha phase before the open beta phase. Imagine if we were getting some of the awful mechanics from the beginning of the alpha coming when more people started playing the game.
Late game build stagnation changes seem like a double edged sword An early game team with a lead can keep that lead... So what happens to late game characters? Will the scaling on late game characters show their bigger stats? or will the new late game characters be the ones with easy hits, potentially easy oneshots?
What I really need to know for Smite 2's open beta patch is the starts, even with 300 hours starting from CA7 I still don't know the starts and without ingame chat and almost no online resources I can't find them. OBow being added makes me sadge because when I saw they gave SunBeam the OBow art it gave me hopium copium that Odysseus would be added :( He still could be added but :(
I think with the camp changes. You will start lane. Unless you have a crazy strong lvl1 clear. And sunder.. or if the jungle wants to help with blue before red, before yellow... Which is unlikely
Averages around 2k concurrent on Steam at the moment, though I expect a lot of people will come back with the free to play launch and the game is faaar better than it was 4 months ago so hopefully they'll stick around this time.

As someone who only played Clash/Slash, hearing they have no plans for the mode in S2 pretty much killed all hype I had for this game. Guess it's finally time to move on.
To be fair they basically just play out like arena 2, not really offering anything unique so it's better off just having the player base on already more popular modes. No reason to spend resources on one of the least played modes.
You know that massive ad campaign they did for smite 2 back in like may of last year? Now is when they should have done that... Hadnt they spent so much on marketing a year before the game was even coming out, maybe they would have Tina still in their team. Such a waste of money, but here is hoping to then flipping this into a story of victory...
I feel aladdin is getting heavy nerfed, he has 3 passives with the lamp, the wishes and the recast genie, his 1v1 lets him ignore alot of positioning disadvantages not to mention heal and turn a lossing figth, he has 2 dashes and a projectile, he has a fast triple cleave auto
I'm really happy with the fact that mulans name is now Hua Mulan because that's how she actually was named in her mythology and the fact that her mask is her base skin because in her mythology she pretends to be a man to join the army so she covers her face with a mask (correct me if I'm wrong I don't know much about Hua Mulan)

The most important part about this for me is figuring out how I will be able to transfer my data from pc to ps5 from smite 1 to smite 2, as my potato pc no way can run smite 2

If they do add clash(big if, but not impossible imo), it may be something you have to wait for the full release instead, of open beta. I don't even believe og smite had a clash equivalent in it's beta but i could be wrong.
The god tocken seems stupid, every other moba out there has a way to earn all characters by playing If we earn another token every level and can level up to the current number of characters that would be a different story A weird sistem but since leveling takes more xp every level, it seems monetizable and new player friendly... Tho kinda old player un-friendly
At the moment you do gain another token every level up to 50 and this patch will have 50 Gods. For the future I think they do plan to have a currency system to buy Gods for free.

The changes were def needed to make the game feel like a newer game instead of the same game. All gods are pretty much versatile in any role for example the other day i was rocking Intelligence Danza Mid and it felt much more refreshing to be able to try something new

Balance will always change when new stuff is added to a game. Worrying too much about balance is counterproductive in a game that is under development. By your logic every smite 1 patch that changed the game was bad for the game, because it changed the balance. Whatever is OP will be nerfed and something else will be OP to take its place.

the 'normal' jg mobs droping consumables is a very nice idea. It opens things up a bit for interesting things to fight over.
Finally, junglers can actually jungle lol. I'm glad Smite 2 has come so far since the closed alpha weekends. Looking forward to the new year.

I only have one question and that is will joust have a ranked mode later on or will they just scrap that mode all together?
No ranked is the current plan but they are thinking of doing an opt-in leaderboard system within the same queue
Probably will wait for more players before it’s considered, if every mode gots a ranked version it splits the player base up to much

i havent played smite 2 in like 4 months. Have the players come back? When I last played it only had 800 players on steam, so went back to smite 1

You might need to lower your video settings in game. My desktop runs on HIGH but my laptop needs to run it on MEDIUM so it doesn’t appear choppy.

It might be broken at the start like all things are when first added but they can balance them over time and it seems super fun!
