    This was the most epic beginner beekeeping workshop I've ever seen or been a part of so if you've seen a beginner beekeeping class more epic than this one then I apologize for proclaiming this one the most epic. LOL
    This event was a hit and was really fun. The weather turned bad the night before and I think something like 30 or 40 people either couldn't make it due to flooding or didn't make the drive because it was forecast to storm all that day. As soon as the class was over the rain came but it held out for the entire event.
    This was held at Bauer Honey's location in Mississippi. They are one of the largest honey producers in the world. There were about 15 professional or seasoned hobby beekeepers there to teach and offer assistance with every aspect of the class from beekeeping basics to grafting and queen rearing. This was a beekeeping 101 on steroids. Through the video you'll get to see bits and pieces of most of the workshop. I wasn't able to be everywhere so if you want to see the rest you'll have to come to the next one and build your nucs. I think a little over 100 nuc hives left the yard with students that day.
    I think we are going to do this workshop again in spring of 2017. If so I'll make a video announcement of it again.

    Excellent! Thank you for sharing this Randy, looks like everyone enjoyed. We get bees shipped to the farm to work the Alfalfa fields, love the time bees are about like that. They venture all the way up to the house, we had a swarm move into a shed under it last year. Unfortunately I don't have hives and couldn't get to the bees and they died over winter. I was sooo bummed about that. But maybe one of these times, I'll be able to wrangle a swarm when we move up there in 2 yrs. Uncle is running the farm and we're going to retire there. =) Looking forward to that very much.

      @SansaStarkofWinterfell 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oo That'd be dang cool, if you could do that! I'd love it. =) And yeah...we have em hauled in, but I'd much rather have my own. You know?
      I do have 10 thousand Fireweed seeds that I totally plan on planting when I get a chance. See, I want to make Fireweed Jelly, which is the absolute most beautiful Pink jelly. Supposedly it's very tasty and the bees *love* fireweed from what I've learned. Very much wanting to get into bees, just can't afford all the gear right now. And I hate seeing them die like that one swarm did. =(

    Francisco is pretty rough on the bees, I get why, and what he does but damn! He's like the Honey Bee-Micheal Vick!

    After trying to be so gentle with my girls, it looked so strange to see the pros throwing frames in a box, and chopping at the burr comb like Washington at the cherry tree! :-)

    Im new to beekeeping and have watched all of your videos and they have helped me quite a bit. I was wondering if you can tell me when there might be another class or if there is a site to look up the info for future classes.

    • @628DirtRooster
      @628DirtRooster  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably March or April of 2017. If there is another one I'll do a video announcement for it.

  • @Buckrun11
    @Buckrun11 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another cool video. Wow there was a lot of bee equipment. Do you think it is good on the bees to move them around like they do? I know that is a way to produce more honey. But do you think the bees are better off?

    • @628DirtRooster
      @628DirtRooster  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think they know the difference as long as they are getting fed. The ones that get lost when the boxes are moved might not like it though. lol
      Their primary use is for crop pollination. The honey is just a something that has to be dealt with. I just turns out to be a good problem to have.

    Great video 628, thanks. I tell you what, if the first time I'm in an apiary, and I've got about 600 bees on me, like that one fella, you better take me to the nearest racetrack, with a pocketful of cash, cause I'm gonna win the win, place, and show all by myself!! Lol!!

    looks like caos. do the bees really return to their original hives? or of they do get lost will they be accepted to a different hive. love your videos.

    • @628DirtRooster
      @628DirtRooster  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      When they get lost they are on their own. They are pretty good about returning to their boxes. Some times they can join other colonies but usually don't.

      628DirtRooster Yeah, I was thinking about keeping some bees...but I'm not actually strong enough to DO it, medically. It takes a great constitution to be able to stay up with them, rattle around those boxes...
      I lost my kidney several years ago due to cancer. I'm like the walking dead...able to move around (kinda) but not able to DO anything. I'm just hanging around hoping for a transplant.
      Buy I like watching what you do!

      Brian Fahrlander Keep your head up dude. You'll be out there working your bees in no time. :)
      I'm praying for you.
