Im on Makita both LXT and XGT platform. Would never risk buying knockoff. Not to mention it might say its 12Ah, but in reality it will be a 5Ah, plus I like my warranty.

All fake replacements will work but the run time is not much better than half the original.

I experimented quite a bit with knockoff/3rd party batteries on my Makita 18V LXT platform. They all worked beside 1 (which was showing 0 Volt so clearly defective), but the usage time and longevity wasnt really there.
I had 1 chinese battery that was quite close to the original makita one, but the rest either went flat really quickly or around 60% charge had a large Voltage dropoff and the tool wasnt functioning properly.
Also after a few dozen charge cycle most of these 3rd party batteries started to loose capacity. Obviously its just my experience, there is literally hundreds of different 3rd party batteries for every major brand, there might be some genuinely good ones, but I found it cheaper to just buy the genuine ones in the long run.
