I have this card ,the reason why it's getting so hot is because it uses up to 225 Watts ,with terrible thermal paste, changing the case helps , alittle bit,but the best solution is to open the card up and change out the the thermal paste with thermal grizzly thermal paste, I saw up to 10 degrees drop, and I only use a cheap micro atx case, I can run my games at 1600mhz on core 2200 on memory resolution/render set as high as 3200x 1800p at 60fps at 74 degrees . Stays at 60 or less if I drop the resolution to 1440p or 1080p the thermalpaste is no good in these cards, overall good video.
thank you for that info! i have read that online. i am a little hesitant to take the card apart but maybe ill do a video on it. id like to go more in depth with fixing this issue.
@@mccaurthor @crash29662 don't forget the XFX RX590 Fatboy come with 2 bios, Overclocked by default with wrong stat, i change for the stock bios and i'm fine with tdp 150W (65 degrees) at full load with a little overclock too (@1650Mhz, 2200Mhz memory)
Thanks for the comment my friend, I’m sorry if this video isn’t what you were hoping for. The increase airflow seems to be working a year and a half later. I hope you find an alternative fix
I'm still struggling with my case, bought an airflow helper for now to try. I am still concerned about voltages going to 1.28 and now way to control it via Radeon Software or MSI Afterburner but that does seomthing, in effect I loose anti-lag and sharpening
@@mccaurthor Interesting. I recently got Cold War and my gpu won't ramp up the fan speeds high enough to cool it. I installed sppedfan and cranked the fan speeds to 70% and it won't crash anymore
@@mccaurthor been using the radeon software to alter the fan curve, it has kept the temps down but it still emits a lot of heat and the fans above 60/70 % start getting noisey.
@@ne.1841 I just replaced my 590 fatboy with a Vega56 because the problem is i wanna be playing over 90+ fps and with the 590 if you're doing 60-70fps the graphics card will go around 60C but when i unlock my fps to 144 then it starts to overheat and go up to 75C. So try to uncap your fps and remove vsync you will see that yours also overheats after time.
@@abelmusic9355 yes, that is the issue a big one. Its always better to have lower frame rate in graphic intensive games, you can turn up grapchic properties for a lower fps, but if you have 144hz monitor it is realy fucked up, i mean you can play some mid range games with normal temperature but it is still very hot gpu for higher refresh rates. For the rx590 60hz-75hz is the best
Having the same issue. For some reason, the dumb ass fans don't kick on until it hits 50c or so. WHY? Dumb as shit. SpeedFan helps a bit by forcing fanspeeds but apparently 70c is "normal" for this card. Guess it's just another reason to upgrade my gpu sooner rather than later.

The performance BIOS is the switch away from power connectors?

I have this card and it runs so hot and loud. Gonna save up a bit of cash and replace it.
TheGuvzilla a good free fix is download msi afterburner and manually turn the cards fans on!
