    AKA: salat katzutz (Chopped salad)
1 medium tomato, chopped or a handful of cherry tomatoes sliced in half
3 Persian cucumbers, peeled and chopped or 1 English cucumber
    1 onion, diced
    1 small green pepper
juice of 1 lemon or 1 to 2 tablespoons 15-30ml of lemon juice
1 tablespoon 15ml or so of olive oil
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped, optional
    Pinch Salt
    Pinch pepper
    Instructions
Add tomato, green pepper, cucumber, and onion to a bowl.
Add lemon juice, olive oil, parsley salt, and pepper.
    Mix until evenly coated. Enjoy!
Probably the best-known national dish of Israel. This refreshing salad is served as a main dish or a side, and is used as a street food item, wrapped in pita bread with falafel or shawarma. This healthy salad is also an important part of the traditional Israeli breakfast.

I would gladly make this. I like a good simple salad recipe. I often make one that’s just cherry tomatoes, bocconcini and basil. Balsamic and EVOO for the dressing

In Australia we call those Lebanese cucumbers. They’re very popular here. I prefer them in all my salads and even grow them in my garden. 😊 I also grow cherry tomatoes and capsicums ( bell peppers) so I will certainly try this salad with my fresh vegetables. We eat salad all year round as we live in a hot climate and even our winters stay around 20 degrees Celsius through the day. I grow strawberries, passion fruits and pineapples as well. Fresh fruit salad is often on my menu.

They are called both here in Canada, I think it depends on which market you get them at. lol This is the first time I've used them in a recipe. They will be my go to cucumber for salads from now on , I love the taste. Thanks for tuning in Cheryle.

Thank you! This is a common everyday Ukrainian salad, probably brought to Israel by Jews from Ukraine in the late 19th century. I have never eaten such delicious sweet crispy little cucumbers with the thinnest skin and tomatoes, under the skin of which sugar gleams, even in Israel, where wonderful vegetables and fruits are grown. In America, their pale likeness is sold.
PS: You correctly pronounced the name of the salad in Hebrew.
