Thanks for watching. So what happens when you don't follow the instructions? Most times, it's something bad and this one is no different.

Change the oil every winter, sharpen the blade, clean the air filter and spark plug, check the plug gap and check the lash on the OHV, that is my normal winter maintenance. Also give a good cleaning on top and under and oil on the wheel adjusters and cables. I am 54 and on my second mower since the age of 23.
you're doing it right
Thanks! @@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel nice mower they should have goats for there lawn 😆 🤣 😂 😹
So humourous.
(if you don't remember the last time you changed your oil, I think it may be time.)
Made me laugh.
Really enjoy your videos.
Cheers from southern Ontaro.
thank you and "Hello Southern Ontario!"
VERY GOOD VIDEO THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
Thank you too
“Walmart Special” Snapper, or a rebadged Murray, from the early post “Great Recession” era; so service and maintenance meant ‘pour gas into it, run it hard until it dies or blows up, return to Walmart for another machine, rinse and repeat’. They looked so cheap and sad sitting on the store shelf back then compared to what Snapper use to be decades before … but today looks pretty decent compared to what is being offered now!
RIGHT all the way around. I wouldn't swap my old 85 Snapper 4 horse for 4 new ones.
couldn't have said it any better
You should change oil once every year and check it EVERY time you go to use it. Check air filter and blade once a year.
you are correct
Eh once you get to know your machine probably do not need to check it every time. My Honda’s oil level doesn’t drop at all between changes… so I’ll check it a few times a season.
@@briantii Well to each his own; it only takes me a minute to check it and I'd rather do that than run it low on oil.
@@lawrencecarroll2031 Yeah my concern is that there is risk of getting dirt in there when you open it up. I tend to get build up around the cap. I do clean it off but nothing is perfect. I try to balance it on a machine I know doesn't use oil and monitor for signs it maybe starting to use.
Thanks for sharing ✌️✌️✌️
My pleasure
I keep my maintained I keep my mowers with the oil changed if it needs a new air filter to replace the air filter or blow it out same with my riding mower now this year I have to change the oil out on my riding mower. last year I didn't do it because the oil was still good in it then and sharpen the blades since i do yard work for my landlord as well.
yes, I would always leave it up to you to decide if and when to change the oil. IF it still looks good, keep using it.
Love the all-purpose wire coat hanger usage. They're harder to come by in my area; think I've long since transitioned to the wooden ones. Outside of blades that were damaged by blunt force, I think that one was worse than anything I've worked on. Luckily, I've got about 100 blades on hand for this upcoming decade since Lowe's near me had them on clearance for $8 or less a year ago. I usually change them on the more expensive mowers and then sharpen and keep the used one for the next cheaper mower that needs it replaced.
wow you got lucky with the blades!
My mower gets fresh oil every Spring.
Nice!
I change the oil every year🙏👍🙏👍
perfect!
As far as model numbers go the sticker on the deck is used for deck parts only on Briggs and Stratton engines the model numbers are usually stamped into the metal shroud above the muffler on Honda and some others they are stamped into the back of the block
thanks
I did mine after the last cut in the fall so it's ready to go in the spring.. but I'm going to have to check that to be sure🤔
checking is always a good idea
Clubbing the grass into submission is a very accurate term and I REALLY like it! I usually sharpen mine (or did) maybe 2ice a season, when I see the clubbing start or I think it might need a fine tuning. I have had a babancer for ever and I take it out with the grinder when putting an edge on outside because my shed usually has enough gas fumes so it might go into orbit if I ground a blade inside in the vise. I was going to get a set of the Oregon super mulcher blades like I have on the opposed for the battery but the OEM blades (curved mulchers) did such a fine job on almost all the leaves from our silver maple I'll probably just sharpen them and leave well enough alone. I always side discharge but if anything is left, I run over it again and with the factory jobs, the leaves just vanished. Can't beat that! And the Oregon blades use more power. The opposed has an abundance and I don't want to explode an 'cheap running' atomic power plant trying to recharge the zero turn after a hard run with a heavy blade! Always a tradeoff and I really don't have enough change saved up to rebuild a 3-Mile Island.
Have a wonderful weekend, Thanks and BLESSINGS to yall!
thank you very much and you too!

I'm a fan of literally never changing the oil on ur mower. Just keep it topped off. I've seen mowers last just about forever with oil extremely old and black
I only agree with this method on the older Briggs flatheads and older engines. However the newer one don't do as well.
Whoever put a "Snapper" label on that thing should be arrested...
YESSIR!
💪🏽
Yeah I don't mind if someone telling me that I am doing something wrong I would just ask them can you explain what am I doing wrong? With watching enough videos with showing how to change the oil I feel confidant enough to start doing oil changes. I just need a container to dump out the old oil and put new and fresh stuff in it.
RIGHT! I can learn from anybody but don't tell me I'm wrong and not be able to show me something better that I already do. And get an aluminum turkey roaster. Works great and cheap! Don't get burned like I have. No wonder taters get deep fried. OUCH!
yep, a big pan will do..
Really! How much time does it actually take to check to see if the blade is balanced a few extra seconds on a nail hammered into a board.
probably about 45 minutes
@@HomeGaragechannel It has never took me even close to 45 mins to sharpen and balance a blade. Sorry but I see we agree to disagree.
that was meant to be a joke.
Watching at work
thanks for watching
Hey bro what's up? I don't own a mower so I'm lucky that I don't have to worry about changing out the oil on my equipment.
How often do you change the oil in your helicopter? Just axing.
you're lucky
I still want to know about his helicopter.@@HomeGaragechannel
