    I was a competitive swimmer up into my early 20s and looking back now I realize a lot of my acne was probably due to irritation. Can you do a short or video for young adults who not only might be going through puberty but are swimming in heavily chlorinated pools 2-5 hours per day?? Love your videos! Thank you!

      That’s so niche I’d say just ask ChatGPT on top of what you have already learnt BUT HERE IS SOME ADVICE!!! what I can say is chlorine is very stripping and makes you skin more sensitive so I go for skin barrier health, hydration and calming here is what I would suggest “SKIN1004 - Madagascar Cen-tella Ampoule” for calming “Neogen Dermalogy. Probiotics Double Action Serum” for skin barrier. Then for hydration I’d go for “COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 100ml” and just add a cheap aloe vera face gel from the face shop or somthing for £6
      And order of skin care of those items go
      - wash face
      - toner
      - essence
      - Ampoule
      - serum
      - aloe vera gel
      - Moisturiser
      - SPF50++++ sunscreen

    my daughter is a tween and had bad acne but the inkey list salicylic cleanser and omega water moisturizer have changed her skin. will move to byoma when she's a teenager and needs the actives, but the real secret has been getting her to do a routine daily.

      Cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen.
      And maybeeee an acne face wash or spot treatment, if they have acne.
      They don't need a hydrating serum unless they have really dry skin.

    Thank you so much for this. My daughter is 10 and is all about self-care. For years now, she’s washed her face and put on sunscreen but has been begging me to get her serums and mists and creams like the ones she watches me apply but I’ve been overwhelmed trying to figure out what ingredients are safe and appropriate for young skin that is only just starting to get the occasional breakout. This has helped guide me a bit!

    "you don't want to overload on niacinamide"
    Me who just put 3 niacinamide products on my face: ........
    A.M.
    -Very very gentle foaming cleanser
    -Salicylic acid 1% mist with green tea extract
    -Vitamin C (tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate) 20%
    -Sunscreen, SPF 30 or 45, generously applied
    -If I'm breaking out, I use sulphur spot treatment right after the salicylic mist and put plain hydrocolloid patches on my zits to protect them from my tight-fitting N95 mask
    P.M.
    -Cleansing balm with colloidal oatmeal
    -Foaming cleanser, 5% lactic acid, left on for 3-5 minutes
    -Mist with 3% niacinamide and 3% N-acetyl glucosamine
    -Spot treatment with 10% niacinamide (I do not personally experience irritation from it and I only use it on my extra oily zones)
    -Retinoid
    -Moisturizer with 5% niacinamide, panthenol, and glycerin
    -If I want to do some extra work on a dark mark, I'll use a hydrocolloid patch with niacinamide

    Dr. Shereene, is it true people with oily skin appear to age slower than others? If true, should we incorporate a few drops of oil in our skincare routine?

    • @irfanhilmi1896
      @irfanhilmi1896 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just sharing my experience but I used rosehip oil as my last step and salicylic acid as my first step but lately my skin feels good. My work starts at 10am and I have a 12 hour shift and before incorporating oil into my routine my skin would get oily by 2pm but after rosehip oil, i would get oily later around 6pm. Not sure if it's the rosehip oil but that's what I noticed and my skin looks really well nourished as well

    • @Anonymous-gf5gl
      @Anonymous-gf5gl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think incorporating oil really depends. What's your skin type? What kind of oil should you be using for your skin type?does it serve any skincare benefits like it did with the other commentator by making their skin get oily less frequently? Also oil is not something that is present in your minimum skincare so do you really need it. Also oily people don't agw slow. Oil just makes the wrinkles appear less prominent but it also enhances other age factor like large pores which makes us look exactly or more older than we are. Source? I have oily skin

    I feel like if you're a teen with acne in the States, you ought to try Panoxyl or a sulfur soap before anything, especially Panoxyl since puberty is when your body odor is gonna spike up.

      Depends on the type of acne you have tbh. I personally found that lactic acid and glycolic acid work better than benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid for my acne. All benzoyl peroxide did for me was make my acne much much worse.

I’m still not clear on what the essential products are for a tween/teen to be using? It would have also been helpful to share a suggested routine, perhaps one budget routine and one more mid-range 👍🏼
    Unfortunately most of these brands I can’t get where I live anyway 😕

    Your timing is so perfect! I have a very sensitive dry skin so I know nothing about pimple/acne but I want to be there for my daughters and offer her the best preventive/ no bs skincare possible. We already use Sefless by Harym and Bubble (btw I had a text yesterday that said that they finally come in Canada!) But my question is about led mask. I want to buy the Omnilux one for a while for me but I think about buying the one with the blue and red light for the three of us. Is this a good idea? Did teen can use the led mask? And if I buy only one did I chose the one with only red light (did it also work for pimples) or the blue and red (did it also work for anti-aging / rosacée )? Thank you so much for all your content! Je t’adore!!! I can’t wait for your brand launching!

    could you do a skincare supplement guide for us older chicks? Besides the usual vitamins ( we all know what they are) how about HMW hyaluronic acid? we know your'e not a fan of the topical..Also is there any recent data supporting the use of LED's (face masks, etc) and the issue of free radicals? I have been reading some disturbing stuff. These devices have not been out long enough to know the longterm effects. And I am concerned that some manufacturers may try to suppress the science. • @SydSonnig
      @SydSonnig 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Many derms recommend or prescribed retnols like tretinoin or adapalene for teens with acne not just for anti aging. Since both of these cause the skin cells to turnover faster, decreasing acne as a result. But, they don't work from everyone especially very sensitive or reactive skin. I was prescribed tretinoin as a teen and it caused a pretty bad reaction after a while and caused my teen acne go from regular and constant breakouts to pusular and deep under the skin breakouts.This is not a normal reaction though.

    Thanks for this!!! Able to use this to help my loved ones. Just some feedback - the repeated hitting of the desk is quite triggering for those of us who are sound sensitive. Love the vids though!

    What do you recommend for someone who can handle retinols well, but doesn't have the access to go for prescription? Everyone is talking about how to start, but not how to continue

    Hello Dr. Idriss! I recently watched a video of yours, where you recommended only cleansing with water in the AM. Would that still be your recommendation when using retinol at night?

    how often would you recommend using something like the BHA toner by Paulas Choice for acne? Salicylic acid is an exfoliant but also an acne treatment so at what point are you over-exfoliating?

      BHA is safe to use daily if one can tolerate it. Not AHA though.

    Hello!! Thank you for all the Information. It helped me a lot and I am just starting.
    But now I am wondering: it is ok to do a routine for everrrr? Or do we have to take a break from using products with active ingredients?
    Or do I stop when,let s say, my dark spots got better?
    Thank you for doing this for all of us.

      You dont need to take a break from products if you dont want to. Except with hydroquinone or if youre experiencing irritation. With dark spot serums you can stop or you can continue using them to even out little dark spots and freckles. With actives for acne you do need to continue use after a break out has cleared up (unless you dont get acne anymore), because they are preventative. Hope this helps :)

    Hi Dr Idriss, if a 11 year old girl uses mineral sunscreen in the morning, what is the best way to take it off at night? I wonder if she needs to double clean? Or is she better off with chemical sunscreen to avoid all of this headache?
