So I've been trying to gather the parts I need in order to make front end shackles for my truck, because I for the life of me can't find any aftermarket parts supplier that makes what I am looking for. The only part I can't seem to find is the sleeves that goes on the through bolt between the shackle plates, which needs to measure out to at most 85 mm in length and with an ID of 16mm and an OD of 22mm. These measurements come from the factory shackle, which I am not using because I need to raise the front end of my truck, and the problem with the stock shackles is that they manufacture the shackle as one piece. Any ideas on where I can find a sleeve that large? I greatly appreciate the help.

What size drill bit did you use ?

Why did you do this? For lift purposes?

Hi We are getting ready to lift my 78 cj7, so I can put bigger wheels and tires on it. For a 2 in lift, how long do the shackles need to be?. We have access to a complete welding facility to make them ourselves. Thanks..

I’m honestly not sure, I’d try with about a 2-3” longer shackle at first and then you might have to go up from there, I’m not extremely familiar with jeeps, hope this helps

Usually to gain 2 inches you need to add 4 inches to the shackle.

You need to add about 4 inches

Please don't do that. It will ruin your caster angle and the Jeep will wonder bad. Lift springs are not that expensive for a CJ. Do it right and don't regret it.

Heat and use a jack on the low side. Or heat the higher side and add weight
