@@barra245t2 According to Pacemaker (and others) they don't fit, Pacemaker recommends the 4499's for LPG cars.
I like how it sounds, as im not into very loud NA builds these days. Just like some beef to the note and that sounds perfect to me. Having said that there could be a high chance the catalytic converter has collapsed on itself restricting some flow.

Well, look at it in a positive view, you got a free exhaust to replace the tired old one, so at the end of the day, the AU wins.

For the loudest and best sounding you should get a pacemaker 4480 extractor
true many systems say they dont fit LPG tho from searching..
needs a high flow cat and extractors to really hear what the AU can do. I put a full redback system on my 6 cyl wagon. BIG difference to sound and power. My V8 wagon got a full custom twin pipe redback cats, mufflers and extractors.
that would be nice eh.. i found a lot of systems saying they would not fit a LPG model :(
@@RossReviewsau lpg does make it very hard to fit.......I have direct injection lpg on my 2nd V8 au wagon, everything fits very nicely.
Hey Ross it does sound better. Got to give you credit for going through the hassle. Maybe it’ll pick up the performance a bit.

A nice set of extractors and a high flow cat would definitely get it louder 👌still better than stock anyway it will also bed in aswell
Yeah mate I noticed a big difference on my ba XR6 after pacemakers and high flow cat.
that would make it better.. i heard being LPG tho it might be different a lot of the systems say they do not fit LPG

@@RossReviewsau LPG does change the note but not really how loud it is. Like i was saying in my other comment. The catalytic converter has probably collapsed suppressing the flow

Systems with new mufflers don’t sound loud until the mufflers have worn in, the car need to be driven for a week or two then the soot will settle in and it will get louder to how it’s meant to sound
ok im keen to see what it will be like then.. will hopefully gain a bit more sound over the next week

its better than it was so i cant be to upset lol
dunno, the commodore v6 sounds awful with an exhaust..
This is most the reason i tig welded a Flowmaster super 40 race muffler on mine with 2.5 inch and put a 2.5inch v band clamp in where the dreaded clamp normally is. Considering the muffler has no packing its not too loud however i still haven put extractors on yet and the stock cat is like a huge muffler, they weight a tonne. Im scared once i remove that for a high flow it'll going to sound straight piped, cheers

I remember doing my redback catback myself and I've done it alot. I always have a mighty au as a run around and it's always my first mod. An au has nothing on my bf xr6 turbo ute but I tell you what my first one had headers cold air intake full 3 inch exhaust and a stage 3 crow cam with j3 chip tune. She was a little pocket rocket untill mother nature decided to let a tree fall on her. I miss that one,
its a pain! haha was hoping to use a hoist but driveway jobs make for better content i think haha

Straight sixes can sound amazing, as long as it isn't a Barra lol. Search Jag E Type 6 cylinder exhaust note. Or even an old racing Holden Red.

Ok so I have done a bit of research and found that For a AU LPG the pacemaker 4499 extractors will fit on and a high flow cat.

i once broke my AU's exhaust off after the CAT after bottoming out over something and drove it around for a month untill i could afford to fix it, and it was fun for the first 20 minutes lol but under load with no exhaust just droned on & on unless you were fair up it!

Very cool local companies are helping out with the build shame the ol gas motor won’t give us much of a note, would be keen to hear that exhaust system on a Petrol.

I had a rhino exhaust system that was pretty similar, after about 2 weeks of driving it got louder but still nothing crazy, you can just punch out the cat and throw some pacemaker 4480s on and it'll transform the old girl
lets hope it gets a bit louder as time goes on.. its still better than it was so im happy

I've got unequal runner length headers and a 2.5" system with 1 flowmaster muffler.thing is loud and sounds good.almost has a bit of chop because of the headers
i wanted to get headers but LPG apparently wont fit many systems

tip for next time.. auto transfluid an acetone 1:1 ratio *100ml of auto trans fluid to 100ml of acetone*
(give it a really good shake before using EACH TIME
the autotrans fluid eats the rust. an the acetone thins it out . its better then penetrating fluid

Strange how quiet it is, I put a cat back 2.5" on my EL, with a hot dog in the tail pipe and it's heaps louder and barks more than this. Mine is petrol don't know if that makes a difference. Also is this mandrel bent? Mine is.
yeh LPG must make a difference. people have said my cat is probably toast so limiting the sound

This has happened to me back in the day, the lack of sound is all because of the cat converter, it would of collapsed (not surprised being a 20 year old car) hence it is not as loud as you expected, change or gut the cat converter bud!

That's a myth. My first car, a 245 Valiant didn't lose any of it's bassy exhaust bark when it was converted to gas.
Just changes the note slightly on LPG not how loud it is. I have a duel fuel AU Fairmont that was extremely loud without an exhaust. Wehn i put a cat back on her i put another rear resonator in to quieten it down and remove some the drone. Im whiling to bet the catalytic converter has collapsed restricting its flow

@@RossReviewsau Part of it is in the profile pic. I have mostly fixed it over the last few years but still has dents in the roof from the huge roo rolling over the car and and a dent in the door from the roos tail. Wish I had a dashcam at that time, to show how fast it happened and virtually 0 reaction time.
