How can you not love Schlager?! So much style and charisma. We need more of that in today's cookie-cutter TT
These two men deserve Nobel prize for tactical table tennis. Beautiful game.
it's amazing how well Kreanga was at returning Schlager's forehand flips, they all looked like sure fired kill shots to me, wow!
Kreanga got the match thanks to 2 things:
1) The amount of lucky points in the first set, which gave him a mental and point lead which Schlager couldnt counter
2) KK played full power emphasizing rallys, which most of times ended in his favor, and Schlager didnt use his over the table shots to keep KK near the table.
Those spectacular TT days were gone. Now mostly robotic counters and speedy games with close table shots are visible.
Fantastic match! Enjoyed every point.

Both players have their own styles. But great to watch and enjoy the emotions.
Kreanga seems like a lion ready to jump on its prey... Especially if that super crazy backhand of his it's on that day... No one has a chance

It's not matter of body size (just take a look at Wang Liqin f.ex.) I think it's because chinese train more, for example the most of the european players had time to learn english while chinese hadn't
kreanga keeps practising in greece with much more worse players tha him since 1990...and he stills can beat world class player..its was amazing he came 1st!congrats kalin!

@DKPOWA I noticed that Schlager used a lot of topspin and very long serves, which I frankly thought was retarded, because that's how Kreanga serves to setup his offensive game.
I think is one of the hardest game, and it's for genius players

@Opalance Its true, but in his case, he does it because he emphasizes 3rd ball attack
based and what I've seen from this video it looks like kreanga has modified his backhand so that he flat hits more than he spins. something tells me he's using tenergy 64 on at least his backhand. the backhand style he produced in the video would work well with short pips

@bassflyerhomie Well there's a lot of types of luck, but he played extremely well, especially considering his last real tournament he lost all 3 matches in the groups of the world cup. But he was lucky he didn't have to face Boll, I have no idea how he's able to play at this level still, it's half inspiring, half depressing.
Both player speed glued their rackets.
Name one professional player who does not speed glue.
They use super fast raquets but they don't speed glue.

simply a bad day for schlager lol! kreanga just wouldnt stop getting lucky. but some his shots were too damn kickass for words!

Kreanga is 38 years old and won the tournament. But what will the chinese "machines" do with him the upcoming Qatar Open? He will have no chance, i believe.

i wonder..why all european great player like this can never beat chinnesse?? why..? chinesse body more smaller even their eyes small too,but how come europe big power cannnot beat them?
@jetleeming ...there is a big difference in the way european players do table tennis...there is only one person that i know of that i think can match up with the chinese super powers and that is timo bol ..and the way he does it is kinda similar with the way player chinese do it..hope this helps

Its Kalinikos Kreanga!! And please romanian people stop that about his nationality!! He choose Greece and his name at age of 17. He is 41 years old now!! In recent interview journalists asked him if he will return in Romania after his retirement from the sport! He asnwered clearly "NO, Greece is my home and my country.Im Greek. I visit Romania only as tourist!! " Belive it or not, Kalinikos choose to be Greek! Show some respect and stop claiming him!!
