I think the trick to really unlocking the speed is going to be adjusting the resting angle down once custom shaping is released so the pushback is less aggressive, and people are going to get hurt 🤣
My XR had annoying pushback before I went with the custom settings that had just become available. My top speed is on the XR is 21 miles per hour. Not super fast but close to maxed out for me on flat terrain at 180lbs. My GT comes tomorrow and I we be testing it on the pump track and terrain park were I live two miles away. Thanks for all the content.

I just want to say after watching tons of videos and doing research on the GT compared to the XR, I went out of my way to drive an hour to go get an XR at a shop that had a single 1 left. I was willing to drive up to 7 hours one way just to make sure that I can get an XR I called about 30 places 28 to be exact before I found a place that had one left. Would I buy a gt in the future when it's maybe a bit lighter and doesn't become a ghost death wheel. Also right to repair, what kind of Bs is it I have to pay 100 dollars to send in a GT and then pay another 100 for the tire on top of a 50 dollar shipping label? I understand they are worried about lawsuits but what fucking skateboard company that sells boards and trucks is worried about a law suit? Why can't it be the same? If you choose to ride you are acknowledging you could get hurt that is just life FM. Figure it out

Seems like for the average person the GT is gonna be the perfect board. Most people arent trying to push passed 20 and having more torque over speed is overall more useful. I dont see FM dialing back that push back at all since they have been trying to make Onewheels safer since the OG pint and since they legally cant advertise or sell a board with the clear ability to go passed 20 without it no longer being considered in a motorized board in California. If i had the money I'd totatly still buy a GT just for the torque and built in bigger battery but the XR is still perfectly fine for me.
No future motion are just pussies ..... California allows electric skateboards on roads with a speed limit under 35 mph. You are allowed on public bicycle paths, highways, sidewalks, or bikeways but you can't go faster than 15 mph. It's important to note that riders are still required to adjust for changing conditions on the road, just like a motorist
Thank you for the needed content, great video, left with plenty of conflicting thoughts on my purchase. Considering selling to CBXR/JWXR my two nearly complete XRs but haven't decided. I think it's going to come down to range for me and remains to be seen.
The abrupt pushback is a letdown. The GT is more and more like a suped-up Pint with every video, and not an "XR killer". Still glad I waited to pick one up, my XR will keep me happy for some time.
You guys might have figured it out already but from my observation I think the key is that you can force through pushback at high speeds up till the beep.
Well this is going to be my first onewheel I ordered it about a month ago and pretty pumped also as a man that loves to modify shit cant wait to see what mods you guys will have

I think the Hypercore motor is the best we can get from a Onewheel. with its 750/800Watt raiting restricted by Cali law and Onewheel wanting to really control and protect their IP I cant see us expecting much more out of it as a product unless they can find a way around some of the laws. Will be interesting to see how the XR and GT go up against each other in upcoming races. I think the XR is probably a better board overall for the more advanced rider with the less harsh pushback and ability to really push it to its actual ungoverned limits. Onewheel has had a rough time with having to make the Onewheel safer, riding at the limits is becoming more impossible with each new board release. Will be interesting moving forward for sure. My ideal world would be Onewheel to release there controller standalone with their software onboard that lets the more advanced riders and custom community do its thing around that with custom motors and battery configurations. Doubt that would happen though but a man can dream.
All other PEV industries get around the 750 watt limit just fine. Eventually superior wheels will come out of Asia and FM will go out in Boosted style fashion.

So the first run of GT's can be updated/adjusted through the app or firmware? When you say they ended up fine tuning XR and you think they may do that with the GT you mean through an update correct? Or is that something that has to be done at the factory?
@corey kirby but that is that something that existing owners will be able to get updated via firmware? Or is that something they can only do to the new ones coming off the assembly line? I'm new to this so not sure how it all works.

For cars a huge factor in speed and acceleration is the tires. A grippier tire with less torque could accelerate faster than a harder (more slick) tire with more torque
I'm glad I'll have both xr and gt. I feel like the gt is going to be a better cruiser trail surfer but the xr will be a better trick and specialized board my gt doesn't get here until April tho so we'll see then.
I didn't think I would want something faster then my XR+ I got for this last Christmas; however after 50 miles on it I find my self dealing with kickback more and more especially on staight-a-ways. What about going with custom with a little high tailend bias on the GT? From the video it seems like there's room to bring the nose down

I know this is an old video so IDK if this will even be seen, but from my experience, using custom shaping tends to have less of a actual "top speed" or hard push back compared to preset ride modes on my XR, but I don't know if that applies to the GT

They dropped it from 13 to 10.5; it's a very stiff tire out of the box apparently

We were in mission. Flow is currently slower since it caps at 17. Rumor has it that’s changing

Custom isn’t complete yet for GT. Unfortunately, the custom modes have no effect whatsoever on push back
