During my lifetime career with Southern Bell, South Central Bell and finally BellSouth, I had the God Given pleasure of working in the Bayou/Cajun areas of Louisiana, more especially after a Hurricane had made its debut into the state. I sure did meet a lot of those fine Cajun folks down in that area and just fell in love with them and their music. No finer folks around, and it was a blessing to me to have had the pleasure of meeting them. (Even when I had to ride in a Pirogue because of our buried cables in the Bayou). Love this music.
I played his instrumental of Amazing Grace at my daddy’s funeral. Jo-El passed on the same day as my daddy, 5 years later. (Jan 13). Rest in Peace and go sing in Heavens Choir now.
It's not possible to listen to wonderful Cajun music and not tap your feet. It will cure your depression. Sadness or whatever ails you. I just love me some good Cajun sounds and the food is great too. We are blessed to have Jo El Sonnier,, Doug Kershaw, Savoy Cajun Band among others. The,re all great. To all of my fellow music fans, God Bless you may your days be joy filled. Love Ya!
It’s sad to announce the loss of Jo-el Sonnier last night after getting off stage when he finished singing “Tear Stained Letter” and had received his final standing ovation. He as asked to do and on core which was “Jambalaya”. He said he would do a meet n greet but needed to take a break first. He had a massive heart attack before he had a chance to do that and he passed. This was on 1/13/24. RIP dear man.
I have a cassette tape with a live version of this off the radio that is killer! This is good but a little more tame , same great guitar! My tape runs out before the song is over, would love to have a copy of the live version !
