Love the music, love the language, love the Cajun way, how they dance so effortlessly---- even the little children! Would love to live in Louisiana! 🌹 rosita
I remember during the worst of covid, Jo El Sonnier would play songs on UTube every day or so to entertain. I tried to listen as often as I could. It was such a kind thing to do and really brightened my day. . I tried to

Jo El Sonnier & Doug Kershaw together is like a dream come true. The people there that day must have known how fortunate they were. Add Jimmy C Newman to the mix and you have The Super Bowl of Cajun music. I wish I could have been there that day. What Joy!

My dad had a Doug Kershaw 8track in his collection. I listened to it countless times headed to our old hunting property in Cuba, Alabama...oh what memories.
I went to school with Russell and Doug. They used to do a lot of free shows at theatres and such. I remember when they had their own radio show at KJEF in Jennings. Jimmy Newman and others also used to do free shows downtown. It was a great time to be growing up.

I saw Jimmy C. Newman at the Grand Ol' Opry and talked to Doug Kershaw and Jo-El Sonnier. All three of 'em are the nicest and most genuine folks in the world.
Is this one of Doug Kersaw's greatest performances? I think it is, at least for me, I think this is one of the best performances of Doug Kersaw. I can only wish I was there.
Mel's Hair Shack shared a link. 19 minutes ago Shocking news for me today! Not even two weeks ago I had the privilege to meet the late and great Jimmy C. Newman when he brought his wife to my salon to have her hair done. I had no idea who he was. Just thought they were a local couple in the area. However, there was something special about him. I was very drawn to him as we talked and discussed cutting his hair very soon. All the while not bothering to mention his status or anything pertaining to his legendary career in country music. Instead we talked about how he and his wife had been married for 66 years, they were from Louisiana, and they lived in Tennessee for years on a farm, right down the road. I thought he was such a cute, funny and sweet man as he told me how very picky he was about his hair / haircut but, not long into our conversation he said he would be willing to give me a shot. I simply smiled and said thank you! I too am very picky also and I will do my best! My best to cut his hair to his satisfaction. I so enjoyed talking with him! So anyway to sum it all up. Last night, his wife Mae called me and was crying and told me about his passing and asked if I could do her hair this morning. So of course I did. Well, it was not until talking with his sweet wife Mae today that I realized who he was! It was like a light bulb clicked on. I knew who the legendary Jimmy C. Newman was and had seen him perform once at the Grand Ol Opry. I just didn't recognize him in my lil' ol salon. But what I will always remember about Jimmy C. is... his kindness, his sweet and simple ways, his love for his wife and Tennessee. What a great loss! I feel it was a great privilege to meet him! I also cannot help but wish that I could have sat for hours listening to his stories. May God Bless, bring peace and comfort to all of his family, friends and fans! May you rest in peace Jimmy C. Newman! Grand Ole Opry performer Jimmy C. Newman dies at 86 www.wsmv.com One of the Grand Ole Opry's most beloved stars has died, "The Cajun Man," Jimmy C. Newman.

Thanks so much for your comment ! God bless you and yours in Jesus' precious name. Amen !" ▶🎼🎵✌◀️

I don't know about outlawed, but I tend to agree. Doug Kershaw is an interesting case of a musician who seems to have garnered attention for the genre by singing in English while also arguably diverting it from its roots.
I bet that was a good show! I saw Jimmy C. Newman at the Grand Ol' Opry once. I met Doug Kershaw once after a golf tournament that he had played in, but I never got to see Jo - El Sonier. This performace makes me wish I had seafood gumbo!
Can some of you home folk help us out here...an interpretation of each verse as they are singing it would be cool!! I have the lyrics, but they are not singing them in the same order. ...only in Louisiana will you see such beauty!
