As I've said before, I've always seen Bellatrix Lestrange as the Harley Quinn of the Harry Potter universe, she's just more evil and cruel
Glad I'm not the only one to see that connection. With Voldemort being her Joker.
You're not wrong 😅
I agree
That's what I've always said! Harry Potter's answer to Harley Quinn!
“Thou Shalt Not use the Lord [Voldemort’s] Name in Vain!!” 😬😬😬😬
honestly i wonder if her head would explode when someone brings the question "so whatre you gonna do after he wins? you'll have no purpose crazy lady"
Crazy people will always find their black sheep to torture. They will always have enemies to destroy (like Sidious from Star Wars said to Vader {who were more pragmatic}).
Thanks Dean for your insights ! 😃
Glad to hear your voice again Dean as always a well thought out episode.
Bellatrix actually frightens me whereas Voldemort while formidable is at least somewhat predictable and you can tell from his exterior he is evil. Bella however even after Azkaban is beautiful while simultaneously unpredictable, psychopathic, and only loyal to Voldy. Helena Bonham-Carter nailed her portrayal as Bellatrix 💯. It would have been interesting to see her also cast as Andromeda Tonks had the movies brought her and Ted into the plotline
Who would rather fight? Choose wisely!
A. Voldemort (gives you a quick painless death, but somehow misses his aim)
B. Bellatrix (catch you, toy with you, torture you, and then kill you)
Voldemort also tortures his victims eg: charity burbage
Voldemort is more cruel, after all he made Bellatrix into what she was
I wonder if she also didn't suffer some kind of abuse at a young age. Neither of her sisters were as twisted.
I would say that the 14-year stint in Azkaban with the soul-sucking monsters might have played a part in that. She was a zealot, an idealist, and a fervent believer in a twisted cause... that doesn't make her an abuse victim.
she just likes to act bad
May 2024. I’m 51 years old and even though I saw these movies 10 years ago I was not that into the universe. But I just recently listened to all seven audiobooks to catch up to my 11-year-old kid lol. I have really enjoyed the universe and I wish I had enjoyed it experienced it when it was live and happening. I’m enjoying reviewing your videos. I’m currently playing the video game.
"A crazy, unstable B---" is more like it!! Haha! That's what I thought you were gonna say @ the beginning!! 😂
I'm sorry Dean but I have to disagree with some of the stuff you've said in this video and with some of the other commenters. I think that while Helena Bonham Carter played movie!Bella as explicitly crazy, the literary counterpart is much more nuanced. Yes, she is unhinged, she's fiery and cruel, but she's of a lucid kind of evil, she can be very cold at times and is not some insane, overly sexy mad child. She's not Harley Quinn.
First of all, 0:58: there was no indication that the Black Family was inbred. The only Black-Black marriage on their family tree is between Orion and Walburga and even they are second cousins. All of the others were married to other families within the pureblood social sphere, as was common for the nobility even in the Muggle world. And nobody was 'mad'. The Blacks' portrayal in the books borrows from some of the clichés of gothic literature, and that is purposeful. It's dangerous and far too easy to call anyone with horrible views 'mad'. No, she wasn't, she was a militant to her cause--which happened to be a profoundly wrong one.
She's ambitious, powerful, shrewd and intelligent. What she did with Snape proves it.
Also, she wasn't there when Dumbledore was killed and she didn't carve 'Mudblood' on her arm, in the books.
Lastly, if you analyse her character you see how her loyalty is actually split between Voldemort and her own family--even simply based on her reactions when it's brought up (Sirius, Andromeda...). Let's remember that when Narcissa goes to see Snape against Voldemort's EXPLICIT ORDERS, Bella is with her, looking out for her.
Do you have any friends...?
@@Mildredpotka ???
In the case of Bellatrix there was no inbreeding. Bellatrix is the oldest daughter of Druella Rosier and Cygnus Black The-III. Other than that I agree with your assessment of her. You asked for a video suggestion I'd like to see so here we go- The book meeting of 3/4 marauders including the intense conversation revealing Peter MF Pettigrew as the spy. Sirius said "from the start" if I remember correctly. Which is it exactly? From the start of Hogwarts? From the start of the marauders part in the 1st war? I would love to hear your take on it Dean.
Most if not all of the "pure" families are inter-related. For instance, James and Sirius were cousins. Which also means that Molly (Prewett) Weasley and Arthur Weasley are related but probably not closely.
@@somersault1123 I know that. But that is not the same as inbreeding. Inbreeding means two people who get married from the exact same family. Like the parents of Sirius and Regulus. They were 2nd cousins.
The way her parents treated her did NOT HELP & inbreeding is also a culprit of her mental state!
I agree
What are you talking about? We have zero (0) actual evidence from the books of how her family life was, plus the Blacks weren't actually inbred. Those are both common tropes in the fanon but there is zero canon evidence. For all we know, she could have been a spoiled pureblood princess, which might have actually been the case considering how arrogant she is.
her parents most likely treated her wonderful she's a spoiled brat like narcissa
She's 10 on both hot and crazy scale
Great video
My biggest question with rewards to Bellatrix is whether she’s a Voldemort loyalist because of his principles or his actions.
That is to say, does she actually believe in blood purity as much as she just enjoys being able to torture people and be rewarded for it? I don’t doubt that she holds to her family’s ideals but it does seem to be that Bellatrix is less motivated by ideology and more just the chance to inflict pain and suffering on others because that’s what she truly desires in this life.
I doubt it was an intentional parallel but I do see a lot of Reinhard Heydrich in her, an SS officer so renowned and feared for his cruelty that even the other mid-century Germans were afraid of him. It was always unclear whether he did what he did out of loyalty to the Reich and what he did just because he liked inflicting pain.
Likewise, I am curious whether Bellatrix would be anywhere near as loyal to Voldemort’s ideals if violence wasn’t such a central component of it.
Bellatrix was not present when Dumbledore was killed in the book, only in the movie. But, I enjoy your insights and videos.
Do a what if Bellatrix lestrange survived the 2nd wizarding war
Since you asked, I really miss the 'what if' videos :)
My number one favourite Death eater terrifies me but she’s is my favourite
She embraced the black Madness without restraint then snorted foofer feather powder to take it the next level
Hey I have an idea for you to make. You can make a video about What if Barty Crouch Jr didn't get the dementors kiss and was in Order of Phoenix, Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows part 1 and part 2 as the what if he was there at the final battle of Hogwarts? Also you can also mention on how he would interact with other death eaters past the goblet of fire like Bellatrix Lestrange.
"What if the Hogwarts Legacy protagonist was in books 5-7?" That's my requested video.
What would a full on duel between Bellatrix Lestrange and James Potter (both in their primes) be like?
He puts up a fight but eventually, she kills him. James Potter is described as a good duellist but Bellatrix is 10 years older than him and Voldemort's second in command.
he dosen't put up in fight she wipes the floor with him bellatrix is his first in command bellatrix books fought luna ginny and hermione at once won right after fought molly weasly killed sirus black beat kingsley shackle bolt etc
Have you made a video about the Inferi ?
Hey HPF. What are your thoughts if Grindlewald and Voldemort swapped places in time. I.E. Grindlewald was the antagonist of the HP Books and Voldemort was around for the Fantastic Beasts Era.
How do you get a blood cursed ? Please can you help me thank you 😮😮😮
You and Rings & Iron should do a collaboration ;)
Congrats on being able to still get views on Harry Potter Content.
How she directly contributed to Sirius fall into the veil, i mean, her own cusin. And kills her niece, knowing she was a newly mom; and how she also killed the former house elf of her sister's housegold though.
This woman was soulless.
You should do a collab with super carlin brothers
Nice

Sounds like most places in the British isles tbh. 😂
