What REALLY Happened to the Hogwarts Founders? (Their Sacrifice) - Harry Potter Theory

- Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to be discussing HOGWARTS and its 4 founders. Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff.
Specifically, we’ll be taking a closer look at the legacy they left behind- seeing if their contributions to the Wizarding World are perhaps even greater than previously imagined. We’re also going to be taking a closer look at what actually HAPPENED to them.
We know that they planned for the future (and their absence) by creating The Sorting Hat. This allowed them to continue to sort students in to their respective houses long after they were gone from the school.
But my theory today asserts that they left something…ELSE behind.

This theory is full of holes. To enact this charm, you have to be willing to be murdered by someone to protect someone else, and then the person you sacrificed yourself for is protected from the person you sacrificed yourself to. Harry is not protected from any threat he might face, in fact, anyone BUT Voldemort can kill him easily. His mother protected him from Voldemort, and only Voldemort. After Harry sacrifices himself to Voldemort for the rest of the school, they're protected from Voldemort and only Voldemort. His Death Eaters have no problems in killing and hurting people. There is nothing in any of the material that would allow someone to commit suicide and somehow protect everyone in the school from a vague and unknown potential attack at some point in the next 1000 years. There may be another kind of magic that does this, but this magic does not.
Well want if I told you that I was and still am a heir of MerlinMyrddin then want would you say if I could be a part of your world?
Mate I have to commend you for always covering such a huge range of topics and pumping out videos every couple of days is a serious achievement!
Thank-you!
Between the triwizard tournaments of past & quidditch as an institutional sport - we know from throwaway lines that more than one person has died at Hogwarts in 1,000 years even if we don’t directly know their names.
It is worth noting as well that Cedric didn’t die at Hogwarts. (He also wasn’t murdered by Voldemort, even thought Dumbledore tells the school he was. He was killed by Peter Pettigrew. I’m always surprised at how often even people who are deep into Potter lore forget that one).
My opinion
Is
That in this era
Safest era since the creation of the school
And the fact that the tournaments are known to be deadly
And putting your name into the goblet of fire can lead to death
I assume every time they did this tournament
Some student got hurt
Or died
Now how many times did they do this event
Then make a plus minus
Im sure that for every 1 tournament nobody died
There is one where someone died
Who is the murderer?
The one who gives the command to kill or the executioner of that command.
Voldemort commanded: "Kill the spare".
In the (normal) law the first one is the real cullpritt.
The second one can do the action because he fears for his own life...
@@reiniernn9071 Nah, you'll prosecute Pettigrew 100%, you can try to get incitement to stick to Voldemort (not that he has not a thousand more murders to aswer for), Voldy was an ugly baby by that time, even Peter could have disobeyed him,he is neither under the regular cohertion standard, nor the magical one. Truth is, he helped him for his own gain, and paid the just price for it.
Dying and getting killed are two different things. Also, being a participant in the triwizard tournament is a sacred, honorable and legally binding magical agreement. You willingly open yourself to its hazards
These, I think, are important distinctions
Well thought through theory. There are, however, two aspects I'd challenge:
1.) There is the account of Helena Ravenclaw about her mother's death - which also includes the Baron. Why wouldn't they know about her sacrifice? So, at least heartbroken Ravenheart would maybe also be needed to be counted out just like Slytherin.
2.) No matter how you answer 1.), there is the fact that the Founders would have been people of their time. And - if anything at all - the number "1000" at that time would have symbolically (and esp. no longer literally) have meant "eternity"/ "until the end of times". My point is: the symbolism and understanding of numbers was very different back then. To think in such concept of: "in 100 years", "in thousand years", etc.) is very modern (-> clockworks; Newton).
Ohh man this is such a great theory! Although it's known from the Canon that Rowena Ravenclaw fell ill and died - she also held off her death for as long as possible in the hope of reuniting with her daughter so I don't think she made the sacrifice.
However, extending on your theory: After Ravenclaw's death, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor became worried how they would keep up their protections around the school, now that they were reduced by half and they were getting on in age/declining health and they then decided to cast the loving sacrifice over the castle. Maybe not the building itself but certainly anyone who could ever count themselves among its population, in perpetuity
Forgot bout that good point
I think your theory on the founders (other than Slytherin) sacrificing themselves is spot on, even about Myrtle.
"Dangers from Dark Wizards." You mean like one who might release a giant magic snake into the plumbing system? Oh, wait...
James and Lily died in their home. If the spell can be transferred to a building, how was dumbledore sure that the spell wasn't on Godric's Hollow after their deaths? Why couldn't Harry live there instead of with Petunia?
Maybe buildings require more preparation and planning, so dumbledore couldn’t just pull the blood protection out of the blood line and insert it into the building. Like the founders built the school, there is a good chance a protection spell like that might have needed them to put runes or charms or their blood on the very foundations of the building to hold the spell. Them willingly sacrificing themselves might allow for more power as well, since they could focus their power and give it willingly, while Harry’s parents accidentally doing it because they were murdered.
Maybe the founders placed the sacrifice protection on the sorting hat who in turn places protection on everyone who wears the hat
@@elneeth Now THAT is an interesting theory.
I always perceived that the “love protection” spell that happens through sacrifice was a very niche and understudied area of magic. Quite like horcruxes. It was very much a spectrum in how it behaved. I believe this is evidenced by Dumbledore needing the Dursley’s, I’m sure if dumbledore could have had literally anyone else care for Harry he would have. But Dumbledore only KNEW for certain he’d be protected around a relatives blood. Kind of like how Voldemort never knew for certain he could split his soul into 7 pieces until he’d done it. Unfamiliar and untested areas of magic.
The House was destroyed. There was no home anymore.
"I stole the diadem. I sought to make myself cleverer, more important than my mother. I ran away with it. My mother, they say, never admitted that the diadem was gone, but pretended that she had it still. She concealed her loss, my dreadful betrayal, even from the other founders of Hogwarts. Then my mother fell ill - fatally ill. In spite of my perfidy, she was desperate to see me one more time. She sent a man who had long loved me, though I spurned his advances, to find me. She knew that he would not rest until he had done so."- Helena Ravenclaw
Rowena fell ill, fatally, but tried to survive long enough for the Baron to find Helena. No, she didn't sacrifice herself.
As far as Salazar Slytherin, it has always been my thought that he built the chamber, and hid a basilisk, to be used against attacking muggles by his descendants if need be. He foresaw what could come, as the Inquisition was formed in 1184. The basilisk was never used by the Gaunts, even as crazy as they became, until Tom came to Hogwarts. He wasn't a true Gaunt, and as nuts as the Gaunts became, I doubt that they would have ever released a basilisk upon the school as Tom did. They had all the opportunities in the world to do so over one thousand years.
Well it’s possible that not all of Slytherin’s descendants knew about the chamber. But the ones who did, definitely rarely, used it. Otherwise it would have been mentioned as being opened every 40 or so years.
So they probably considered that the basilisk should only be used in case of an emergency.
Though I do doubt that none of the descendants before Voldemort used it.
Someone must’ve updated the entrance to the chamber. (Hogwarts was made before plumbing and it was reckless allow a Girls restroom to be where the chamber’s entrance is.)
@@kendraroth1276 I believe it was Corvinus Gaunt that had the second floor bathroom built. He probably paid for a wing to house it and what was below it (three floors in all). That may have been where much of their family's wealth was squandered.
The entrance was supposedly an old trapdoor and tunnels, which they built over. It happened in the 1700s, when it was discussed that plumbing would be installed. The first patent for the flushing toilet was issued to Alexander Cummings in 1775, so it would have started around that time, even though one had been invented during the 1500s for the Queen.
Yes, early castle toilets were built projecting off the walls, and worked like outhouses. The waste dropped to the ground or moat below. Chamber pots were also around long before plumbing and the first Crapper flush toilet.
@@craxd1he did indeed have it built so it was known to his family through the generations…
If the founders sacrificed themselves in order to protect Hogwarts, it was not a selfless act, therefore I don't think it worked. Moreover, the death of James didn't protect Lily as he had no choice. Lily had a choice (because of Snape) but she chose death. Harry also had the choice not to be murdered but he chose death. Maybe the founders sacrifice wasn't about casting the protection charm but they used some kind of blood magic (which also appears as a very powerful type of magic).
I would love to watch a film about the 4 founders of Hogwarts. Wizarding World can give us a lot of stories. It's not necesarry everything to be around Harry Potter.
THANK YOU! I have been saying this for years. In fact, I would like a movie or TV show to play around with every decade since its founding eventually. I am crazy, I know haha!
Really enjoyed some of the ideas put forward in your post.
I thought that it might be a more interesting and complex character if Slytherin was the one to suggest they sacrifice themselves and goes first.
Good thinking! One question: Are you suggesting that Salazar Slytherin killed each of the other three founders in duels?
Your. Videos are always amazing. Thank you for your hard work. It doesn’t go unnoticed
I have a hard time with this theory. Rowena Ravenclaw is pretty much the only founder with a story pertaining to her death and no sacrifice was mentioned. One would think something that important would have been included in the story.
However, that doesn't mean any of the other founders couldn't have sacrificed themselves. Although, again, something that important would probably have been included in tales about them...just like it would've been included in Harry Potter's tale.
Blood magic was common in many older cultures as 'blood holds the life', when blood leaves a human or animal it dies. So, if anything, they probably used ancient blood magic to protect Hogwarts.
What I want to know is where the pensieve came from and why it was just sitting there on the future location of Hogwarts.
"...for, at the mere age of one, Harry was able to walk away..." that's one fantastic boy right there I wonder how far he walked 😂 (not trying to disrespect your video in any way, I just thought the wording was funny)
Given how many witches and wizards die in battle, I am surprised there aren't more magical love protections.
idk if the time line matches up but what if the spell ties in to calling Hogwarts home so as long as it has students and a headmaster that call it home the spell will work... and the reason it breaks is because of Dolores Umbridge would never call that place home... breaking the cycle just a thought.
It is interesting to try to understand each founder's aura and type of powers and abilities, where are they sourced and developed (spiritually and practically) I am sure there is a lot to learn from this perspective
I have one problem with your theory. In the books the grey lady told Harry that the baron was send after her to bring her home because her mother was dying. If this is true and I think it is because why would she lie. Then Ravenclaw was allready dying so. So if you sacrify yourself while you allready are dying then would it really be a sacrifice? Could it be your theory is correct yet it wasnt three of the founder but two since one was allready dying or even perhaps dead befor the sacrifice?
I think this is an interesting discussion because I imagine there had to be intent and specific focus on a subject from the sacrificing person for the magic to take hold. But this also opens questions like how did the spell take hold when Harry sacrificed himself if he didn’t actually died? Is it a matter of just being willing to sacrifice yourself and going through with it despite not necesarilly actually sacrificing yourself? Or, Would Dumbledore’s sacrifice have had an effect on Hogwarts, Harry, or even Draco, Snape or the “mission to vanquish Voldemort” itself if any of those were the objectives behind his sacrifice? This also plays into the intent vs. actual life sacrificed as he himself plays down the gravity of Snape killing him by mentioning his life was already forfeit after he got cursed by the ring.
Makes sense. Great explanation 👍
First. Great video😊
I think the sorting hat demonstrates their sacrifice. They each (including Slitheren) left a piece of their soul in the hat. Splitting a soul for evil requires a murder. Splitting a soul for good must require an equal sacrifice for good, right?
Guess you missed the fact that it specifically stated multiple times in the books that the school was founded on a site of strong ancient magic and the part where Helena Ravenclaw mentioned her mother’s declining health and looming death. no mention whatsoever of weakening due to magical sacrifice
and if they were sacrificing their lives it would’ve been stated in the books, especially since it’s relating to the protection of the school
4 minutes in, that's the most beautiful tunnel that you could never get me to step foot in. I've just seen too many true crime videos to know how unsafe it is.
I am Honored❤
SUCH a good video! Thank you for this insight! ❤
Fascinating subject. I wouldn't be surprised to find out one day that most, if not all of your theories are proven to be Canon.
Here's another theory. Perhaps the reason that Slytherin House still carries the dark reputation that it does to this day is due to the actions of Salazar Slytherin when the Sorting Hat was created by each of the four Founders. Each of them made provisions to ensure that their legacy, influence, and presence within Hogwarts, continued to exist within the school they had founded even after they had died. Salazar, of course, chose to manifest one of these provisions by means of the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets but what if he, after breaking bonds with the other Founders, chose to curse the very house he represented out of sense of spite and betrayal, the same way Tom Riddle cursed the DADA position after Dumbledore denied him the job. In doing so, for generations to come, whatever students the Sorting Hat placed in Slytherin were subject to this curse and its influence during their time at Hogwarts, as a result further contributing to the ill-reputed House of the Serpent as well as reflecting the character and intentions of its founding father Salazar Slytherin.
Don't know why I found your channel, never been that fond of the series. I read the books and watched the movies, although upon seeing that first video continued coming back
I believe this make a lot of sense
My thought is maybe Slytherin had a hand in their deaths. He became so angry at them going against him at every turn- allowing muggle borns, not going after those who persecuted them, etc. And he gained a following, went on the attack for a final confrontation with the other founders to try and take Hogwarts for himself. But the founders weren't having any of his shenanigans anymore, and wound up making the ultimate sacrifice. Forever putting shame on Salazar's name. But the conflict was so violent, so deadly that their students/family who remained chose not to put it in the records. They wanted to focus on the good that the founders did, not how it ended for them. It seems like the kind of thing Salazar would try in the end, and have it not work out for him in any form also.
Why?
@@hannahlarocco4699 Because it's well documented that Salazar Slytherin was one of the worst anti-mudblood people out there and he could have a real nasty streak according to the books, and even Hogwarts Legacy expanded on his lore through one of Sebastian's quests.
You might have been taking my suggestion from your last video, or it might be a coincidence, I'm not sure, but what I had meant was in Hogwarts Legacy, near the beginning, Professor Fig says something like "Hogwarts was made by, and is in itself a stronghold of that same Ancient Magic," in reference to the Magic that the main character has in game. My question is which of the founders had that Ancient Magic?
it was also mentioned several times in the books, especially in the last…he’s talking out of his ass about the magic claims, it’s where it is and so strongly protected because of the ancient magic
One wonders if the deaths of all those people at the Battle of Hogwarts, people defending their children and the students in general, replenished the original sacrificial Ward spell on the School or created an entirely new one.
Likely not, as the protection would have been activated at the first sacrificial death... But, one can wonder.
This theory doesn't really change anything about Harry Potter in any significant way.
It's already known that the sorting hat considers their history/lineage, who they are, what they value, and the potential of who they can become, so nearly all students were sorted correctly.
That is because each house represents specific qualities, but people are not limited to those qualities. They are dynamic in their persona. Therefore, the sorting hat sums up all of this information about the student and makes its decision comprehensively
You forget that it is mentioned in the books that Rowena Ravenclaw indeed died but due to illness as she sent the bloody Baron out to find her daughter so she could see her one last time and make peace with her, before she would perish. So she didnt die out due to a sacrifice ritual or anything like that, so as interesting as your theory is, it cannot be true unless you wanna think that only Helga and Godric made the sacrifice alone.
Hear me out.
The slytherin departed line refers to slytherin having died. He sacrificed his life protecting the school out of a desire to protect magic and magic users in general. And the others realized each in their own time that the greatest magic was sacrificing one’s self for others.
It is true that Slytherin might not have sacrificed himself to the school but, he did try to sacrifice muggleborns to his Basilisk by way of his future generations of descendants.
❤ Awesome as always thanks! Love this theory!
This world can be so expansive with all the creatures and magical history that’s it’s apart of. And that’s the London/Europe regions. We have 11 schools across the world that have their own culture, their own beasts and stories from ancient mythologies…their own ancient magics. Like this world has so much untapped potential.
I read a fanfiction that around the ward stone of Hogwarts was the burials of the 4 founders.
Whatever happened to the other heirs of the founders.
There is actually a fan film called Voldemort origins of the heir it’s on TH-cam and explains everything
Tom ate them
Good question
Imagine if Hogwarts had more than 4 founders I knew each are aligned with an element, and subtly schooling ideologies.
Gryffindor grandest, Slytherin the most prestigious, Ravenclaw acedemic, and Hufflepuff the most humble with little requirements.
I say two more were added they would need color dorms like(fan-made) Hogwarts dorms
Palladell-purple/pink(why not a horse as its mascot being feminine and royal and the same time) their students like slytherin pride themselves on heritage, but like Gryffindor have a royal and brave mindest. Prospérine Palladell(meaning prosperus palladan/parallel) is their founder she was of royal blood line with wizardry powers and join the hogwarts founders but in attempt to possibly some day have wizards under the royal watch(her own selfish reasons but in canon it was stated she did that so wizards and muggles will be closer infuture generations granted under the monarchial watch). Thus to this day they say Palladell will be the nobility that forgot grace.
Diamback-orange/brown(why not a tortoise old, wise, and have the answers as the world watches by) as their main color schemes, they know things like Ravenclaw, but refuse to act unless needed like Hufflepuff. Rude and rigid but will not deter their standings like real life tortoises. Dougal Diamback(diameter/diamondback/dial time) is this dorms founder he was rough and laidback founder who seen the magic in sacred geometry(like a tortoise shell), and the pattern in which life flows from, he agreed with the other founders, but stood by Salazar's decision and he himself felt that Wizards and Muggles will never come to terms so isolation(like a turtle) for Hogwarts was the best option however he felt Salazars methods were too unorthodox so he could not side with his friend. Thus to this day Diamback is considered the gruffest yet most harden of the Hogwarts dorms.
I don't know if it was so, boldemort would have seen the spell on the school and would be more familiar with its power.
Lily needn't have died. Her choice to die at the hands of evil is what casted the spell. Harry also didn't have to die right then.
It doesn't work the way it seems you are putting it. That sort of protection is against a particular and specific threat...at least how it's been introduced in the books.
I think Slytherin is still alive...and was the usurper of Durmstrang after the Headmaster (or was it Headmistress?) mysteriously died.
And if HIS mastery of Ancient Magic could extend his life....
There may be a very simple reason the deaths of the Founders of Hogwarts are lost in obscurity and lacked significance in the history of the magical world...
They didn't die.
Of course, in what manner they survive, it's hard to say. It could be a case of "break glass if all are in mortal peril" abiding tomb for the 3.
Suicide would not invoke a protective spell, no matter how "noble" the act. So, I much prefer my theory. 😊
Keep up the good work. I don't have to agree to appreciate your enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of the story. 😊
If the magic protecting Hogwarts was so strong. How was Voldemort able to attack
I accept your premise. However, to whom and under what circumstances would the founders have sacrificed themselves?
the thing is at the end of the first book/movie harry says i'm not going home really so there fore he doesn't see the house where his aunt lives as home so if voldy had ever found out where he lived voly could have just waltzed in
They really need to make a game with the hogwarts founders and the first generation of students under the founders
I’ve always wondered why they, themselves, weren’t the gate keepers. Per se. Like, the fat lady allowing access to the Gryffindor Common. Why not a portrait of Gryffindor Himself?
When dumbledore dies, the spell he puts on Harry stops working, Harry then confirms that when the caster dies so does their magic. Fidulous charm being the exception but it's more of the magic being transferred to the protectee. So not in agreement with the theory. And 1000 has no magical significance so I can't agree to that either.
Didn't Ravenclaw get really sick and die? Isn't that why she sent the 'Bloody Baron' to find her daughter (only to have him murder her)? Because she wanted to see her daughter again one last time before she died?
What if Salazar Slytherin killed the other three and their protection was put on the school and students they loved and Slytherin was forced to leave the school afterwards?
Hogwarts teacher = no life outside since 1000 years ago because one subject has exactly one teacher x 7 year levels. I wonder if this is why the founders had no descendants. Rowena's daughter was already born before hogwarts and salazar left so his line lived on through the Gaunts.😅
Hufflepuff did have descendants. Half-Blood Prince shows one of her descendants and other descendants are mentioned.
@@americasteam2112 Hepzibah smith only claimed to be a descendant. It's implied that she was not and was just very rich and was obsessed with collecting relics.
wait why didn't the sacrificial protection kicked in for Lilly Potter? Because James gave his life to save them right? So technically Lilly should be alive?
Relates back to 'real' magick. James being a male has divine masculine energy it's his job to protect and die for his family in an energetic sense. Lily being female has the divine feminine energy (creator engery) it's a sacrifice for her because it's her job to create not die to protect. Basically tom broke universal law or 'old magick' by killing her non willingly, and the universe or 'magic' in their terms punished him for it.
Lady ravenclaw she died before she could see her daughter which was not something she sacrificed herself for the school at that point she'd rather probably wanted to live as long as she could.
Why does this type of strong magic have to have atime limitation, especially something more defining as exactly 1,000 years. And where are these founders in the moving portraits, or does it not exist at the time of their sacrifice?
I subscribe to this theory.
Everyone except Myrtle snd Cedric, I guess...
I like to think the founder become the castle itself through transfiguration
Makes sense. Remember the wizarding world gradually lost it's "blood purity" over the years. This means that, over 1000 years, the blood of the 3 Founders who participated in the sacrifice was probably thin enough to break, or at least drastically weaken, the protection to the school.
Also, the 3 threats I believe finished off weakening this charm were insider Hogwarts threats from students.
The first was Tom Riddle in his time at Hogwarts while researching Horcruxes. This led Voldemort to eventually damaging Rowena's diadem, which may have impacted the spell. Riddle, having been one of the students protected by the charm, could also inadvertently damaged the charm in the same way a spy can damage a military unit more than any outside force could.
The 2nd was Ginny Weasley while possessed by Tom's Diary. Again an inside student plus Slytherin influence.
The 3rd and final one is Draco Malfoy when he used the cabinets to help the Death Eaters bypass the school's defenses.
These 3 events, combined with the passage of time, could have all played a role in defeating the charm protecting Hogwarts. And all 3 of these events tie back to Slytherin House, and therefore Slytherin himself.
If the love protection spell was on all the students and people at hodwarts why did fred Weasley and lavender brown and all the others die then
What if Voldemort just k¡ll$ them first? No blood, no bond protection. Wouldn't he have been able to end Harry at that point?
1:30 Merlin is probably 5 times as powerful as the 4 founders combined.
How was Riddle able to attack Hogwarts, and people died in the castle if such a spell was in place for wouldn't Dumbledore having died there place the spell to protect Hogwarts too
Have you ever considered "What If... Hogwarts had seven founders?" and their impact?
Why seven? There are only four founders and the four houses are their last names.
@hannahlarocco4699 I'm more than aware that there were only four founders and who they were. The question I posed is "WHAT IF..." and I said seven because it's the most powerful magic number.
finally i understood why Harry kept living with the dursleys
I think quite simply that as fig pointed out the castle is a bastion of ancient magic. A form of magic the 4 founder had acess to and which made them immensely powerful. It is this ancient reservoir of magic used to create and maintain the castle that has been added to by all founders that grant a seemingly atypical level of safety.
Do you know what happens to Jacob Kowalski and Queenie
Seems like harry coulda just shown up at his aunts for a weekend in the summer, and then lived just about anywhere else, seems like the Dursleys would be ok with that.
i disagree about the loving protection, if it was so easy to use.. there would be a loooot more instances of it being used.
it honestly just seems like an easy way out, which with how poorly jk writes... is understandable
I wish there was a dedicated Founders Harry Potter film but only if JK Rowling oversaw it. It would be sweet to see a fanfilm by dedicated fans but so many answers could be revealed
And to see the houses drift apart so close to the founding is interesting too
How are you ariving at the fact that Hogwarts was founded in 990 AD? That was just when Gryffindor got the hat they use for sorting?
It probably was before the Arthurian era since it was confirmed that Merlin was a student at hogwarts
My theory is that Salazar and Godrick got fed up with the two pushy witches and sailed far, far away starting a new life together. How many muggles in their later life realizes that the opposite sex is tiresome, so wizards with longer lifespan have even grater chance of this realization.
What makes me say that they were gay/bi? Like Dumbledore, they were geniuses, sexually aware people are usually from the smarter kind, no offense there alpha chads (wink, wink)
Him: “conceal Hogwarts from the muggle gaze”
My ears: conceal Hogwarts from the muggle gays” 😂😂😂
Helga huffed and puffed and blew their houses down
Why would dark wizards even want to attack schools ??? Voldemort attacked Hogwarts as a way to get at Harry. How many dark wizards before then attacked Hogwarts or any of the other wizarding schools around the world ????
I don’t know
Slytherin left the school cause he refused to be a part of muggle borns at Hogwarts
What about all the deaths before they ended the tri wizard competition
Wait Cedric died
.That’s so sad 😞.
Why didn't Dumbledore also use this magic? He sacrificed himself, didn't he?
No, he was not given the choice to die. He decided to scheme his own death due to being poisoned by the Ring of Gaunt. That's not sacrificial love, that is dramatic flair 😂
He did, he was protecting Draco who didn't get killed by Voldemort.
@@danicagrahek-ogden4444 It wasn't sacrificial love ?? Voldemort wanted DUMBLEDORE dead. He got what he asked. And Dumbledore had this death play out as per his own masterplan. Draco was only meant to die if he failed.
Sacrificial love is : the TARGET is chosen to die, the PROTECTOR steps in by their own choice, the KILLER tries to toss them away, but the protector CHOSES to stay put and die.
This is in absolutely NO WAY Draco's situation.
Do you really have to restate your premise at the beginning of videos multiple times?
8 times you stated "Hogwarts's founders were powerful and saw threats they would have protected them from" in different paraphrasing. Say it once and get in with it!
There are several ghosts haunting hogwartz, not just moaning mertel
Dumbledore has the Elder wand which means he can do any type of magic he wants as long as he can think of it, that's different then being a powerful wizard, it would be cool to think the founder's did this out of love for the school though.
I don't think Rowling would approve, lol. Doing that to yourself to protect an object.
Or their deaths were just never come up with by the author and that's why they're not known 🤷🏼♀️
Salad Bar Slytherin
Wow Dumbledore was a terrible man. I mean if a half-trained slacker like Harry could cast a spell that protected hundreds of people, just imagine what Dumbledore could have done. But I guess he just didn't care. What a cold hearted basta*d he was.
Or maybe book 7 was just a half arsed, rushed ending full of PIS and plot holes.
If it doesn't meet Albus'idea of the "Greater Good" then no sacrificial protection would be given by him.
i dont see how living a productive life would mean you die from unnatural causes
what are we talking about here? group suicide?
and this would be better than the founders dying of old age?
At mark 10:05 you see Hogwarts Schools latin motto "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus", I checked with 5 different latin to english translators and it translates too "A Sleeping Dragon never to be Tickled". Either someone in the films props department was taking the p*ss or this is not the motto that J.K.Rowling created.
I never understood, if you need to ENTER the wizarding world through special gates (platform 9 3/4 i.e.) , why would they need to actually HIDE anything from sight? It literally is a different world, otherwise everything would be on top of one another, in a masquerade of epic proportions. This is one of the problems with the entire series, sometimes it is hinted that they have all these special world things and then in others they are a hidden group inside the society. I just hate the overall crazy of that. In the end, wizards could have had exterminated muggles easily at any given point in time, specially with Salazar seeing them as mere animals.
Do yall think JK Rowling was thinking this deep? Or is she just the queen of coincidences? Her world building wasn't as massive as GRRM or Tolkiens. Yet incredible connections are made all the time
