Another excellent video! What a movie indeed. Can't wait for the next parts.

At 11:45 I accidentally called the crew as being part of the ship Intrepid, even though their ship is the Protector. I had watched the entire classic Star Trek series while working on this episode and somehow the Intrepid sneaked its way in. Thus, after listing this video I caught that error and had not corrected it.

The fandom didn’t change after 2015. What changed was the hostile, sneering attitude of the new breed of ‘inclusive’ showrunners, directors and actors who made their political and moral views known on social media. Lazy inclusive writing and lazy inclusive messaging stood in for traditionally intelligent writing and excellent characterisation. When fans did not like or refused to show up for these new movies and shows, the new breed of infantilised directors branded the audience and the fandom ‘toxic’. Such slurs and accusations are now used even before a release, with directors now claiming ‘if you don’t watch this movie you are a misogynist/racist/homophone or other insult if the day. The fandom hasn’t changed, it is just scorned at hated by the movie companies because they expect faithful and entertaining material.

I agree completely with the studio stuff, but within the fandom is now a group that adheres to the studio mentality and causes trouble inside the fandom on a level we never had back in the older days. These are fans who claim other fans are toxic and most of them never had the level of devotion towards the franchise that earlier ones had. So, although I agree with your assessment, I do see a serious change inside fandom as there are two obvious camps. One is abusive and indoctrinated, the other just wants to love their stuff in peace. Thanks for your insights.

I’ll never not laugh at Rickman wearing that alien head piece while he is at home

Thank you for standing up for fandom. Sure we took it too seriously and we were outcasts but toxic? No. Misguided. Well, nobody should have said Lucas raped their childhood but I imagine Disney has taught most people to regret that one.

We were so spoiled for choice back then. It was basically impossible to watch all the good movies. 24:50 I always assumed they were so naive they thought he was coming to chill for free. The limo was probably just them being polite. Even homecoming kids have limos.

This movie was super ahead of it’s time - and nailed the comedy of fandom- I still feel this movie is slept on

Love this movie - I appreciate your thoughtful and affectionate breakdown.
When this came out, I was a busy young mom, and am an example of how the marketing failed this film. I didn't have the time to look into what the film was really about ... But am a literate SW and ST devotee. I fit the demographic the film was made for! I'm sorry I didn't see it when it came out.

By Grabthar's Hammer, what a review. I've enjoyed watching this movie so many times over the years that I bought the DVD and never regretted it. It is always there to pick me up if I'm down. I've seen the documentary of the making of this movie but not the mockumentary, so I've got that to look forward to. My Favourite character will always be Guy Fleegman, perfectly played by Sam Rockwell. What I really enjoyed is that the movie never descends into mawkish sentimentality, which it would be so easy to do. I'd like to think the ''''adult'' version was available with the odd curse word included but, ultimately, its good enough to entertain me as it is. Thanks for, as ever, a very enjoyable review.

I think it would be nice if they made a director's cut and it would be well received. However, the film is perfect as is. It is a great movie and I think most folks favorite character is Guy.

This movie helped get me out of the Star Trek vs Star Wars fanbase war as I was deep in the Wars camp for my entire life until that point.

Galaxy Quest stands as one of my favorite comedies of all time, next to Young Frankenstein.

Almost 1,000 I see Moonlight. I bet you will get over the top in the next few weeks. Galaxy Quest can never get old.

@@RepresentThis Thanks, as always, for being so supportive. We play Galaxy Quest in our home at least five times a year, if not more.
