Bought one, put it together and done a burn off following the book to a T today. my first pellet smoker/grill ever. It's exactly like yours. My burn off took awhile for some reason, almost 2 hours for the heat to reach 350 degrees. I was worried I done something wrong but after watching your video I followed exactly how you done it. The outside temp was only about 40 degrees so I don't know why it took so long. Do you have any advice or suggestions to speed the process up when I fire it up again ? Tomorrow I'm going to start it up again and see how long it takes to heat up. Hope it was just a one time deal.

Hi Greg. I may do a video on this as your about the 10th one that's asked. Ok, here is what you do. If you're going to do a 250f cook, start the pit as you normally would, then set the temp to 350f-400f . Once you approach those numbers, open the hood, and set the desired temp of 250f. wait a few minutes for the temp to fall close to your set temp then shut the pit hood. You should be good to go. I hope this works for you. I'm doing some Wagyu Beef Ribs tomorrow and will do some more testing..

Thanks for the response back. I got off the phone with pit boss and they said it’s a software issue with a lot of the units pid controllers. They will have to do a firmware update and they do not know when that will occur. The rep said this is happening quite a bit. They said they would send a care package, but till then no 225-250.

Hello, I just bought the 1150 and have used it twice and both times it was extremely difficult to maintain a 250 degree temperature! It drops below 200 and then will jump back up around 220 and then drops again. It will only go to 250 when I prime it more, and even then it will slowly drop! Is anybody else experiencing this or am I doing something incorrect? I have talked to multiple pit boss owners, granite there’s werent the 1150 but they have had no problems with there’s maintaining a 250 temp.
