That Onyx series pit looks legit...impressed how you manned up and read some instructions! 👀
Been eyeballing this, thanks for your video! I will feel more confident going into my first smoke.
Congrats on the new addition to your arsenal Scotty! Catching up on your videos lol catching the first cook next🤣cheers 🍻
You could take a handfull of pellets and drop them in the burner to get it started.
Thanks for the video. Just got one and plan to use it for the first time tomorrow.
your welcome. i am sure you will love it. awesome little pit, any questions or concerns i try and help
Just got this!!! So excited to cook all sorts of things, thanks for your vid!!
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ as a suggestion for your first cook if you haven’t done it already, I’d love to see some ribeyes made on or even a small brisket, I’ve never made brisket before.
Good stuff! Looking forward to understanding about PID and the new digital temp control options compared to the old model.
PID is awesome. Idk if you're familiar with it but it's basically just a computer controlled temperature.
Looks like a nice option with the controller, Have to say my Lexington is a GREAT smoker, there is nothing i can do on it, that I do on my Stick burner, barrel or Kettle, Good stuff Scotty keep up the good work!
Just got same grill followed steps, all was good. My first cook was meatloaf. It's done looking good so far.🤗🤗🤗
Haven't ate it yet but looks and smells really good, used apple& oak pellets. Mashed potatoes and green beans?
Congrats on your new pit looks great. For your first cook just cook something good.
Just got mine in the back patio thank u a lot for this video bro
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ did ny strip steak and shrimp tacos on it for dinner I like a smoker a lot better than a grill in my opinion
@roadrunninhustla42x for sure. Have fun with it. Try lumberjack pellets or bearmountain. The best ones to use are smoken pecan. But you have to order them on line
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ thanks for the suggestion I have the bear mountain pellets right now I’ll order a few bags of the smoken pecan cheers nd blessings your way bro
I am looking at getting one of these today. I would be seasoning with jack daniels pellets. Do they not recommend putting pellets in the firepot for seasoning it. You can't beat the grill for the warranty it comes with
Pitboss doesn't recommend adding g pellets to the fire box. Love this grill
I'd like to see wings on the top and ribs on the bottom for your first cook. Keep it simple and delicious 👍
sounds good. but i got ribs going on my off set , with some new BBQ sauce lol
What I’ve noticed is most companies focus on larger models and say they do everything a gas grill does as well as smoke things. For me I’m not looking for a do everything grill. I like the convenience of a propane grill (I use a Napoleon Prestige 500). I mainly want a dedicated smoker for brisket and other things. The smaller pellet “grills” seem to regulate temp better and are more efficient at smoking meat than larger ones. Is that a fair assessment?
this lexington does great on briskets holds temp great, for a small family or 1 person it is perfect.
You don't have to keep holding the prime button once you get a few pellets on the auger..once you get a few pellets inside you can stop and it should ignite
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ You can also drop a handfull of pellets in the burner.
You dont have tomkeep that button down that just gives you extra pellets , u can put a hand full in the burning pot first
@johnskidmore9020 good idea. But the auger stops after a few minutes. Why u hold the button
Been eyeballin this grill online. My question is: what is the bottom grill size? Not in square inches but length and width? Unfortunately my local Wal-Mart is out so I can't take a looky-see
At least put my hat on so we don't have to look at your head🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nice job Scotty on this burn off. Looks like a workhorse of a pit!
What was that large white thing with words on it? Were those instructions? I'm not familiar with those. 😜😁🍻
Hi Scotty! It's grilling season again and I just fired up my Pit Boss and put on some ribs!
Are you still using the Lexington?
Thank you I just did everything to start up. Waiting on 45 minutes. Easy .. 1/5/24
It's 1:05 cail time. Let it burn out for an hour just got a cover for it . I'll be cooking tomorrow on it thanks it's easy when someone else does all the work. Thank you.
Almost 1yr in, what's your opinion? I I just bought one and I'm worried I should've bought a bigger/better one.
its an amazing pit i bout 1 more. i love the lexington. if you have a big family maybe go bigger. or do what i did and buy2 lol
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ That's comforting to hear. Thanks for the quick response. I was worried about size because I my extended family is huge and I usually grill burgers/pork steaks once a couple months and have everyone over.
I was using a charcoal grill about twice the size of this Lexington. So, while I could have twice the amount of meat on the grill than I can with this Lexington, I was also dealing with slow cooks/fighting temperature.
I'm thinking with this Lexington, not having to fight the the temp will speed up cooking and it won't be such a hassle anymore.
I know it's not the first cook but I'd like to see some venison short loins smoked!
I'm going to smoke a entire venison backstrap with a honey garlic sriracha finishing glaze Just ordered my grill It should be here today thanks for the cool video @@ScottysBackYardBBQ
I feel like my luzington didnt get the love as the bigger models. Plus it 20 to 50 degrees hotter then usually.
ya it seems all the pit bosses been running hotter. no answer yet on why. . some days it works good.
Does that model have a door to empty the pellets?
First cook? Whole turkey!
@ScottysBackYardBBQ I'm trying to decide on a Lexington or a Weber smoke fire. In your opinion is the Weber better design with better results?
@@theobserver9565 yes weber smoke fire much better. get great cooks out of it. more room. no chance of an auger fire.
What are the screws on the front for? The extra screws?
@@johnnypotseed8734 you can add a shelf . top rack wont fit i tried it
My top grate hangs right on there bottom grates wont but top will I just bought the Lexington onyx I was curious about the bolts sticking out aswell and went and looked on the box and it said it was to hold grate dont know why yours wont fit
I got an Err code during a cook. Looking in the book it wasn’t a code that was listed, just Err. Any idea what it could be? I looked at the pellet box and it seemed low so filled it.
Flame out. May of got pellet bridge. Shut it down. Start it up again
Stir pellets
I push my auger button for 58 minutes then went to sleep
wow. only takes about 3 minutes. but then u dont have to ever do that again
Im not sure abot the P cycle. I do know about the pee cycle when you're smoking and drinking some beer. Raise the pee's per hour with each beer.
I have that exact model arriving today, great video explaining the initial setup. Thanks man!
Thanks. the more i use it the more i love it. . you may find it over shoots set temp. but that will go away the more you use it.
