    Just got mine in from lowes. Took it home, put it together and fired it up for burn off. Went into shutdown mode after burn off and it showed in shutdown mode for 90 minutes. Couldn't get wifi to link up either. Called Pitt Boss and was told I needed a new control panel and they had one on the way. Yes I am disappointed that the control panel went out but I was very satisfied with the way Pitt Boss handled my problem. I had a panel go out on my vertical smoker a couple years back and received the same courteous service then. I watched a test comparison between the 1600 elite and a treager timberline and the timberline's control panel went out during the comparison. It happens to any pellet smoker brand. The customer service is what brings me back to Pitt Boss. I picked up a 1150ps3 for my son and its working like a champ. Let you know how the new control panel works when I get it.

    If you read the instructions the P-mode is not for increasing the smoke but is used for stabilising the heat when the ambient outdoor temperature and humidity change. The P-mode determines how long the auger pauses between feeds so as increase / decrease pellet feed distribution times. I started using mine in Arkansas where the summer time heat hovers round 100 deg F with about 80% humidity. The P-4 setting, which is default, was causing my cooker temperatures to vary by as much as 100 deg F. After changing the P-setting to P-5 my temperature settings were absolutely stable + / - 5 degrees. The Lower P settings are used for colder weather.

    Just ordered a Pro Series1600 Elite. Saw a couple of reports about the temp on the controller reading about 50° higher than the actual temp in the grill on Pit Boss grills. Have you had that problem with your 1600 Elite? Saw there is a company tha makes a heat deflector for Pit Boss pellet grills that fix the issue. Just trying to decide if I need to order it or not.

    First, like your videos, well presented.
    I am torn between the 1250 cs and the 1600 elite. Other than the shelves and lid? I looked at the 1250's manual and it looks to have access to smoke settings which seems the same as VST (let me know if I am wrong.)
    Do you smoke flavor is about the same between the two.
    Thanks for reading and responding trying to justify the double cost.

    • @GrillSergeant
      @GrillSergeant  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the Competition Series was hands down my favorite smoker (and still is a great smoker) until I got my 1600 elite. Even if it did not have the pull out racks the VST and rapid fire ignitor are a total game changer in my opinion. The elites now blur the lines from BBQ you could have only gotten with a traditional stick burner. The smoke output and flavor is night a day different compared to all other pellet smokers that I've used. Just finished unboxing the Pro Series Elite Vertical (new video drops Saturday) and with that combo I would be hard pressed to find a "better" smoker than what I have. All that being said, you will still get great BBQ of the Competition Series, but I would throw more coin at the Elites just for VST alone. I'm in the works of teaming up with another channel that has Aaron Franklin's offset smoker ($5000) and going to do a side by side brisket test to see just how close the smoke flavor is. Stay tuned for that...thanks for the kind words!
