Yep that was my mistake when I did my glow plugs, didn't change the module also, put it all together than still had glow plug fault codes, lol, had to repeat the process lol, good content dude keep them coming...
I can't give you a super long term test. But its been about 2,000 miles with no issues. Comparing it to the factory manifold when they were both off the car it didn't seem cheap compared to the original. I feel like the only issues I could see happening would be the head mounting surface warping, or there being a failure at one of the plastic welded seams of the manifold. I guess time will tell.
Hi Bro, I am planning on doing glow plugs and control module this weekend, and ordered the parts, would you please list all the tools required to finish the job? by the way, thanks for the video, I have 2011 335d, owned for 10 years and love it, so planning on keeping it for long. I would really appreciate the list of tools required for this job...
You can use either 1/4" or 3/8" drive, I prefer 1/4". You will need an 8mm(deep or shallow), 10mm(deep and shallow), 11mm(deep). Extensions in whatever drive you are using, a swivel can help with the nuts at the controller. A flat blade screwdriver for worm gear clamp at EGR valve and clip at intake hose. A hook pick to help with plug connections that can be tricky. This is what I can remember off the top of my head, may be something I am missing but I am not sure right now.
@@MunkysGarage Thanks a bunch, I believe you mentioned about some Es, E14/E18, I will get those as well. This is my first job on my BMW. I hope it goes well.
I need some help, man. I’ve followed every step on this video and someone else’s and after unbolting everything for the manifold it won’t budge. Not even a wiggle. Could it be sealed on somehow? Any ideas why it’s not loose at all? I need to get this done today otherwise I’m stranded haha thanks!
Sometimes they are still tight after taking all the bolts out. Gaskets kinda get stuck if they've been on for a long time. Just double check that you have all the nuts and bolts out. Don't forget the one at the very back behind the last intake runner. Also don't forget to get the bolt out of the oil dipstick tube
I have never seen glow plugs throw an underboost code. Code is most likely due to faulty vacuum lines not providing enough vacuum to close the wastegate all the way. Could also be a leaking o-ring at one of the charge pipes.
Hello from Sweden! Thanks for your videos! Does the glowplugs and module kit fits my 335 d (M57N2) I did everything as in your video but my module is beru102 and glowplug also beru.
I believe it should. That is the same engine I was working on in the video. I believe the factory parts in the BMW box say beru on them. I know for a fact the last set of glow plugs I put in were in a beru box. They were purchased aftermarket but worked just fine.
Thank you for making these videos! Could you tell me where you got the glow plug socket? I don’t want to get stuck on them after taking the whole intake manifold off. Thanks!
The tool I used in the video is actually a special tool BMW makes for something else, but is stated in the repair instructions for the glow plugs that it can be used. I don't remember the actual part number off the top of my head and it actually isn't on the tool anywhere. You can use a regular socket on them, just make sure it is deep enough to come up past the tip of the glow plug before you put your ratchet on. You could order a set of deeper sockets such as these, www.amazon.com/CTA-Tools-1700-Metric-Socket/dp/B077NTLSBR/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=bmw+diesel+glow+plug+socket&qid=1611164541&sr=8-15. You could also order this kit that states it is specifically for glow plugs, www.amazon.com/dp/B075FZW9P2/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B075FZW9P2&pd_rd_w=kLdby&pf_rd_p=45e679f6-d55f-4626-99ea-f1ec7720af94&pd_rd_wg=EZQBd&pf_rd_r=F2Y744HG606BJD7ZT43Y&pd_rd_r=e069b798-daf3-41ac-a797-49bee9c7b359&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzMzI5SkxJN0gxWTc3JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTU0NDQzMU9ZTUdNRFFEVkxZMSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjU2MDg1MkZXVU1RT0Q4WTBZNyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2RldGFpbCZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
In the US we have a problem with carbon buildup in the intake system. Not sure if it is the diesel fuel and additives or what causes it. The emissions stuff that was removed from this vehicle plays a part in it but doesn't completely eliminate the issue. But the swirl flaps will get gummed up with carbon and get stuck. Removing them when replacing the intake manifold is just eliminating a future problem down the road.
@@kostaspatrakoulakis8489 I've inspected them and they are perfect so no problems. Plus I drive the car only on highways so that helps a lot with not building carbon deposits up and general wear on diesel engines 🙃
I really enjoyed the informative video! Does the computer system throw a code with the installation of the delete plates? The vendor from the link which you provided for the intake manifold mentioned that the part was not compatible with the 335d. I was hoping if you could confirm that there was no issue with your installation of the intake manifold. Keep doing your thing!
It does throw a fault because you are not putting the swirl flap motor back in. The intake manifold works just fine. I believe the listing states that because it actually comes with a vacuum controlled actuator for the swirl flaps, which we are deleting anyways, and the factory ones have an electric motor.
Your series are invaluable as a 335D owner. Please keep it up as I am sure I will be referring to your content for future work on mine.

Brotha I appreciate it. U just answered my exact question and more importantly my customers appreciate it. Please keep ur videos coming
About to attempt this on Friday thanks for the help
Another great video
Great video cheers pal time to do mine now
Do you need to do a tune after you do the delete
Yes you do.
Can I do swarl flaps on the x5d e70 with emissions or emissions has to be deleted
You would have to have someone tune the ecm to not look for the flap motor. Otherwise it will set a check engine light and be in reduced power mode.
How has that manifold held up? Hearing mixed reviews on those cheaper manifolds. Wanted to know how a real world example held up.

Good Job. Thanks! Where did you get the manifold and block off plates for the swirl flaps?
Updated description with links to the swirl flaps and the intake manifold that was used.
is it the same steps for a 2008 330d?
I am not sure about that. We did not get the 330d here in the states.

What pcm are you tuning?
Are you asking what software is being used to program with?
Hey, are you in NC and do you have a contact email or something for the garage. I need some help on a project.

Can you do a video on how to change fuel injectors on a 2011 bmw 335d
I would love to, but I unfortunately don't own one. If I get one in that needs an injector, I will be sure to record it.
