      yeah i've been doing this since a long time, really enjoyed it, also always wanted to show people it's not un-do-able, and that you can do it yourself too, good to finally get some audience :D, what laptop do you have, and what are the plans?

      Im on asus k52jt, at first i wanted to make frankenstein kind of pc from it, (laptop to pc transformation) but now im more like to just upgrade. Since im low on budget rn, i will upgrade ram to 8gb coz thats max, i have 4gb now, have cpu intel i5 480m (i think its ok for now), and gpu radeon hd6370m is his main graphic and its very bad, atlest for things i need it for and thats gaming lol. But ive bought laptop 7 yrs ago and didnt know much about what should i buy for gaming.. for gpu upgrade im trying to get maybe gtx 750Ti 4GB. And ofc this egpu, thats it for now.

    • @Gagliano17
      @Gagliano17  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah even a 750 ti is high for that cpu, but consider something that you can use in the future aswell. and you can always upgrade down the road. the 750 ti is a solid choice, but the cpu will bottleneck. first gen i series aren't that great nowadays, i'd not recommend putting much money on the laptop itself, but the egpu is good because like i said, you could buy like a used second or third gen old pc and put the 750 in then and that would be so much better.

      Oh and hey I also will get a new monitor and I'm completely open for recommendations. Considering a 2k monitor as it'd provide even less bottleneck and better image quality. What do you think? :)

      Would my Intel-i5 processor in my laptop bottleneck an rx470? I'm not sure whether or not I should ditch my £500 laptop or become an insane mastermind such as yourself and... follow your footsteps.
      Also not sure if I can weed out a mini pci port in my Lenovo, it's not as liberal with upgrades like your Asus.

    I think that attaching the mini pcie to HDMI into an HDMI in to HDMI in and then put the HDMI Port on the outside of your laptop, then use a regular HDMI dongle to connect to the gpu. Not sure if it will cause bottlenecks because of the controller in the HDMI adapter, but it's worth a try

    • @Gagliano17
      @Gagliano17  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that won't work, the hdmi in won't recognize the mini-pci-e to hdmi, the hdmi in port on the exp is made to translate the gpu data. it's not a image that passesthough the mini-pci to hdmi. also laptops don't have hdmi line in

    This is by far the most comprehensive gdcBeast-mounted-eGPU installation guide video I found. More comprehensive than even those people endorsed by vendors with millions of viewers. I haven't tried my plan (on Asus A43SD) and still doing best research I can do before deciding on buying anything. I'll try to do exactly as you did and see the result. I hope it will be as smooth as this video :)
    One question, I heard some cases where people had to tweak their BIOS setting first (before plugging in the eGPU for the first time). Some say had to disable WLAN in BIOS, some say had to disable internal graphics in BIOS. Which one is correct? Did you have to do this?

    • @Gagliano17
      @Gagliano17  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use setup 1.35 to disable the internal gpu, even with a fully modded bios, i couldnt disable it from bios, so i had to resort to setup 1.35, its byfar the most universial way to do it, its made by nando4 and sold on ebay, hope that helps :)

      Yes you’ll still boot normally, usually when the dgpu is active while the egpu is too, it’ll result in the external screen running in the egpu while the internal laptop lcd will run on the igpu

    I'm specifically interested in buying the Elgato 4K60 Pro Mk.2 for my future gaming desktop (predominantly for its multifeed feature), but I don't have the financial means yet to put the latter together. Hence I wondered, if I were to buy said capture card now, could I maybe already put it to use with my older laptop using an EXP GDC (Mini PCI-E Version)? My laptop is an Asus R556LA-XX1875T, and up until now I've managed to use it for window capturing at 720p60fps just fine. Obviously I would use the capture card to capture and stream at lower resolutions and/or framerates, until it can be integrated in the proper gaming desktop...

    Hey Gagliano, Leon here again. just watched ur external gpu setup. It is awesome.But how did u cut ur back panel of ur laptop? but it is still a very clever step.and I have an old amd radeon hd 5450 graphics card which doesn't need any external power. so will it work properly if I set it on exp gdc ?

    • @Gagliano17
      @Gagliano17  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes the pci-e lane on the exp gdc egpu adapter can deliver 75w the same way as a regular pci lane would do, so if the card doesn't need external power it will work on the exp too, as long as you put enough power in the exp (100w)

    You should make a gpu mount of for this so it's more sturdy if I set up something like this I would fear of snapping the gpu

    • @Gagliano17
      @Gagliano17  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's sturdy, i have some very powerfull glue under it, that can be removed with a heatgun, but the gpu does not move a bit, and these gpu's are sturdy too. the heatsink holds the motherboard and the heatsink is massive.

    Great video man thx! I have a question; i have Asus Laptop X555LN which is i5-4210U processor. If i get 1050ti gpu does it make any problem like bottleneck on gpu? Should i go 960?

    • @Gagliano17
      @Gagliano17  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      edit: damn your cpu is 1.7/2.7 turbo, okay that's much worse then i thought, i don't get much bottleneck on my 2760, but that cpu is really bad :s, a 1050 is worse then a 960 btw. i had no bottleneck on the 960 with the 2630qm and no bottleneck on the 970 with the 2760qm but i really can't tell for yours, the 10 series is very odd with egpus sometimes it works sometimes it does not, the 9 series is safer, a 960 ain't that expensive i'd recommend that even with a shitty cpu because you can upgrade your cpu probably. i upgraded my laptop cpu aswell, and people with i3s can go to i7s and stuff. but i really can't tell with your cpu you'll have to try, however it goes you will endup with much more fps then before anyway.

    I think I saw another video of you where you said you use the HDMI of the GDC eGPU, instead of the 8 pin on the eGPU and got a significant perfomance boost you said, is that right?
    Just want to make things right from the beginning, planning to get one for my MSI61 2PC. And you think I can use the 220V psu from my old acer notebook?
    Great work btw mate, keep it up! Greetings from germany

    • @Gagliano17
      @Gagliano17  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no, that makes no sense either, the hdmi is just the connector to the mini pci-e, the 8 pin is the power delivery, i use the hdmi connected to my laptops mini pci-e and then from a psu i input the 8 pin, then the 6 pin out from the exp to the gpu's 8+6 pin input, about the laptop psu, most of those are 19v, so no, only if it's 220W not V and 12V, otherwise no, you'll need a psu

    I bought a Zotac GTX 750 2GB DDR5 for 4000 INR ~ 52.68 USD. Then proceeded to buy the EXP GDC for INR 3776 ~ 49.7 USD. Waiting for the EXP GDC. Have an old non-brand stock 300W PSU from a prebuilt lying around. Will post what I learn once I get the EXP GDC and install it. Currently using the Panasonic Toughbook CF 53, i5 3340M, 8GB dual channel DDR3 1333 MHz Elpida 64 bit RAM. My laptop has some serious thermal throttling issues (idles at 55, goes upto 95 C when used heavily 80% to 95% usage) which I'm guessing is due to dust buildup... Looked online for a DIY teardown of it, and that is just hours and hours of very complicated work to get to the CPU. Got any solution ? I'm also thinking that running a proper eGPU rather than using the integrated Intel HD 4000 should also help with the temps ?
