Hi please help me. I have the same exact setup as you EXPGDC 8.0, RX 580 8GB, Dell Latitude E6530, Dell DA 2 series 220W PSU.
But for a pathetic reason when I start up my laptop along with my eGPU setup my laptop doesn't come on(the GPU fan spins for a few seconds and stops) it only shows black screen(doesn't even boot to bios). When I disconnect the egpu and start up the laptop it starts normally when I reconnect it when the laptop is on it doesn't detect and also doesn't roll.
Fun fact: I followed your video for the past 4 months because I had the exact same laptop as yours and didn't want to any problems
The only difference is an XFX RX 580 and an Expresscard EXPGDC not PCI-E

First disassemble the setup and reassemble from start. *check all connections are done accurately*
If that doesn’t help, connect the exp gdc without the graphics card to the laptop.
If still doesn’t work, I will urge you to get the PCI cable. Perhaps there is a problem with the cable or port.

Dell DA-2 series 220W, 12V, 18A, 8-pin AC adapter with power cable. I use EXP GDC version 8.0 for rx580 8gb DDR5 and games run pretty well. Games like Beyond, Control, Fifa 20, Hitman 2, NFS heat, Sekiro Die Twice and more. So you can try with EXP GDC Version 8.4d if you have problems with 8.0. But i suggest you check the power Unit also. Good Luck

What is the difference between version 8 and 8.4 and why can't it support some GPU?
About version 9.0 and higher - this is pci-e 3.0 compatible and only on m.2 pci-e connector. It is also more expensive. Version 8.0 and 8.4 and so on (newest is 8.5c i believe) - is cheaper, you can choose between expresscard, m.2 and ngff, but it supports up to pci-e 2.0 speed.
And most GPU’s in the market today needs much power, (8pins), (6pins)
Higher revison of one version (for example 8.4 and 8.5) means that there were some improvements implemented in stability and compatibility.
My egpu dock and power station is tripping off as soon as I connect the gpu to it.

Lenovo T470 has Wifi card underneath, i believe u can replace with NGFF M.2 key of EXP GDC, if not you have to buy this cable. Also you can but Exp Gdc with express card since lenovo has express card slot. Exp GDC requires no settings from bios, just connect the setup to the laptop and install drivers for your Graphics card. During windows installation you can choose to disconnect the setup and after windows installation, you connect back and install drivers. Considering its bulkiness, its okay instead of a huge computer. And perhaps it should get a suitable temperature for its operation.

Hi just a question, I have a laptop (Acer E15) conneced to EXP GDC Beast 8.0 with RX 580 8gb through Ngff key. I already uninstalled the built-in nvidia card with DDU, set up my graphics option on BIOS (advanced section, video configuration) to IGFX (cause if not my laptop screen doesn't turn on despite the laptop do) my Laptop can detect the the card once i had disabled the Nvidia gpu. I also managed to install amd adrenalin driver. But once it is done it shows up error 12 on device manager. And once i restated or reboot the laptop, once i open Adrenalin app, the laptop crasher with error Driver_Power_State_Failure.
Is it perhaps because i directly connect the AMD RX580 to the PSU that is causing the lack of power? Btw my PSU is ATX 550 watts and I'm planning to buy a 8x(6+2)8 Pin connector just like yours to see if it will work.

Unplug the graphics card from the laptop. Install the OS. ( windows) and after connect it. If you use Amd graphics card. Go to AMD.com and download your graphics software. Nvidia, go Nvidia.com. To check if ur graphics is installed. Check from display adapters>> .

You can use EXP gdc and computer desktop power supply with 6pins or 8 pins power cable for your graphics card depending on the card type..or a dell adapter power cable in the description. And a driver software from AMD for your graphics card.
Does your inspiron 5520 have discrete gpu? If not mistaken the dgpu is amd 7670 series. Win 10 has pcie resource limitation. Boot without egpu first. In device manager disable the AMD discrete gpu. DO NOT DISABLE Intel gpu otherwise you wont have any display at all. This frees some resource needed for the egpu. Next boot up with egpu. The Rx 570 may be identified as a generic graphics adapter. But It should now allow you to install AMD Adrenaline for the Rx570.

Hello Mate, do you know why my amd rx 580 can't detect on system when i use nvdia gtx 960 it's succesfull. I use exp GDC v8.5c. My Laptop is Asus A43SV and I use PSU Gygabite 550W plus bronze.
Considering I have a GPU might as well get an easy deal on 100s of CPUs in the last decade for cheap and build around that . Probably buy a Dell i7 and slam this in there

1. There is no need for any other BIOS settings. Just plug and play with drivers installation.
2. Once Connected, everything appears on the internal screen. You can try external monitor too if you want that… I haven’t tried though ..)

I have tried these parts but what I have done is not seeing the video card .. The fans are not rotating I have not recognized the pc video card even though I have disabled optimus from the BIOS settings .. Either the video card is defective or one of the EXP GDC 2 is not working suspiciously .. Or NVIDIA MVS 5200 laptop Conflicts with internal video card Do you have any suggestions ?? Where does the problem originate from and where is the origin of the solution! ???
Have you installed drivers for the Graphics Card? , if you have then probably the fan will stop working. the fan only rotates when the Card becomes heated. If you have not installed drivers, you have to check the setup connection once more.
write here if there is thing more.NVIDIA NVS 5200 has nothing to do with this. Check from device manager, display adapters and you will have to see three displays. you will see MSI RX 580 once drivers has been successfully installed.

I have Dell E6520 with i7-2720q.(upgraded from i5) but I should have bought mini pci-e version instead. I have expresscard version but it seems that mine doesn't work on RX 570 and RX 580. R9 290X does work although when I restart my laptop, it won't detect again, I have to re-plug everything and re-install driver again.
GTX 1050 ti does work too but I had to disable something driver signature or something like a security (I forgot which one) which is why I can install its driver. Or I have to edit something inside the nvdia driver but if I reboot my laptop, it won't work again and it detects the integrated gpu in my laptop (nvs4200)

Hi, kris Im planning to buy this exp gdc 8.5..but on the seller site says I need to have Intel hd graphics otherwise I need to use external monitor. And I have Radeon R4 graphics..not Intel on my laptop.. should I buy version 8.5 or any other version that you could recommend
It works well on every pc. I have tried on Radeon graphics pc too.. Worry less about connecting to a monitor. You may choose whichever you prefer. But at the same time you can use it without monitor

Yh graphics card will support the latest versions of graphical softwares, also with 10gb, you won’t have much slags, it will run smoothly depending on how you use the program.

Sure. Note that.. The Graphics card won’t be able to able to use all its efficiency with the EXP GDC. I suggestion also upgrade your memory to 16gb to help effective and smooth running

For easy setup connection, I recommend you go for Radeon Rx 470 / Rx 570 - 4gb .
theres an m.2 x4 version of the beast egpu external dock, it supposedly has no performance loss. theres also an m.2 x2 version, which is supposedly the same speed as the mini pcie version which is also available, they lose 20% performance roughly from what it says.
So I encourage you stick to to M.2 X4 eGPU Dock.

Hi, I have a toshiba satellite s50-B with i7-4710HQ and 16gb ram... In my case the Laptoo is to m.2 (NGFF) slot... This adapter is compatible with my laptop??... I need any configuration in the BIOS? 🤔🤔🤔
If the the adapter works well, there is no configuration to be done. But if it doesn’t work, check your laptop BIOS. many laptops (usually thinkpads) has their BIOS Locked for authorized hardware by their manufacturer. Others including lenovo e145 (and other thinkpads) won't boot if you change the included mini pcie wlan card to 'unauthorized' other wlan card. and sadly the GDC is not an authorized / whitelisted card.

Honestly N3350 is quite far from real gaming performance. In order to have fun. Get yourself an external graphics card with exp gdc. Considering a graphics card 4gb might help. Check of for my other video of rx 470. 4gb.
