Why did you do "apt upgrade" when the official instructions say to always use "apt full-upgrade"? Most of the time it does the same thing, but without "full-", it will skip any updates (ahh, "upgrades") that require replacing a package with a differently-named package. Also, an addendum to the blog post notes that if you have an ~/.asoundrc file, you should remove it. And any apps that had directly selected a particular "ALSA" device for I/O previously may try to bypass the PulseAudio layer, causing unreliable operation until that bit of app-specific configuration is changed.
If you use zsh instead of bash, set zsh as your default terminal, it will auto complete installed aps. It'll also remember every command you've entered. It's WAY more productive than bash. Give it a try!
