I paused this video at a little over a minute in, I already hit the like because your videos need no deliberation, to say you should definitely have more music like this. This is the kind of music I listen to on a day to day basis, just my opinion but this music was awesome.
Thanks for your comment Bearfoot, i’ve used this Celtic folk chant track a lot now across a few videos, probably need to sign up for other music databases to find more. My taste in music is quite varied and I used to get a lot of negative comments saying the music was terrible … managed to put a stop to all that by stating “ being a voiceless video if you don’t like the music you can turn the sound off” … cheers … Nick
I use a digital electric melting furnace to get the pour temps just right. I've been casting brass at 1904F. I'm trying Rio's bronze next. I do lost-wax. You might consider hollowing out the back of your piece to reduce weight and cost.
thanks for the suggestion Malcolm, I think by using a gas torch temperature control is the main issue I have with this sort of casting. I’m more used to casting silver with this technique and find it a lot more forgiving. I would like to do larger castings in the future and an electric furnace will definitely be the way forward. until then its another desirable tool on the wish List … all the best … Nick
Thanks for posting, love your vids. I would guess the hole in the sprue is because that was the thickest part and so the center of it was still molten and as the rest cooled and shrunk, the molten material flowed in that direction leaving the hole. Also great music!
Thanks Lee, that makes sense metal shrinks back and leaves a hole. being a hobbyist it’s all a bit of trial and error and see what happens. I’ll try and leave a larger sprue next time … cheers … Nick.

thanks for your comment Jim, I was a bit disappointed with my first attempt at making tin bronze. I think more consistent results are achieved using a small electric furnace when pouring bronze. Until then I’ll probably stick with the casting grain from Rio Grande for small gas smelted items … I love using blue wax when making models, a very versatile material … cheers … Nick

You can add an additive to de-gas the bronze. I remember watching from an old guys channel.

Nice one Marta, I suppose I should order one myself to check how it works and to see how they look. I went for this option because it seemed easy to get things going at the time.

Hey, me from Belgium here. I am wondering why you think wasn't right with your homemade bronze. I don't see much difference with the special bronze you used from Rio grande. But hey, I don't see it in real life and don't know anything about it... 😂
Nice to hear where my videos get seen … first time from Belgium … it’s normally South America or India. The poor detail in the home-made bronze was probably more to do with my inadequacies when melting and mixing the ingredients … more practice needed … N

Hi Nilaya, there are a lot of different types of bronzes for a variety of uses depending on their ingredients. Tin bronze is a basic home-made blend of copper and tin. Silicon bronze has great flow characteristics for casting large sculptures. The casting grain I bought from Rio Grande looks great for jewellery making and is easy to use … cheers … Nick
