My mom would try to make this jelly. She didn’t know about pectin.but let me tell you it made great syrup. I’m 75 year old now. Great memories from when I was a child. I just made some for us.

Thank you for making your video. I had wild grapes in my backyard too this year.
I attempted to make jelly, also assuming tge grapes were tart enough; and didn't need pectin. WRONG! So i'm glad I found your video to give me reassurance that i can do again.

This was awesome! I liked how real & authentic you presented it. Too many pages don’t show the reality of canning. I’d love to see more like this one.
    Thanks. 💪🏼

I wonder if salt had been added to the "dye juice" if that may have fixed that beautiful purple colour in?
    The jelly looked amazing btw.

Hey, great video! My grandma has a huuuge plant of grapes like these and we harverst it every year to make jam and wine. This year I made some canned 🍇grape compot🍇 for the 1st time and it's so good and ridiculously easy too! (you make a water+sugar mixture, put that along with the grapes in jars, and pasteurise in the oven for 30mins, then let it rest for a week) The final product is like a really sweet grape juice which you dilute with a bit of water to drink, and you can store the jars in your pantry for a few years! Here, in Poland, it's VERY popular to preserve all kinds of fruits like this. I got the recipe from a Polish cooking blog, if you're interested I can pass it on.

      Oh, that's cool!
I also made a batch with xylitol for my grandma who can't have sugar, and it works too :)
It seems I can't put a link in my comment, so the website is "Ania Gotuje" and the recipe is "Kompot z winogron"

We have wild native muscadines where I live in the southeast that are really good for jelly . I made jelly out of it earlier this month which turned out really good. Getting into foraging lately and finding wild persimmons, apples and I saw your comment on another certain site and recognized your plants and realized I hadn’t seen your videos in a while lol

@@TechplantChannel not sure if you’re in the country but a good tip for free fruit is to find abandoned houses and farms in rural areas that have been vacant for some time. There will still be old fruit trees and bushes on the property that will fruit year after year. Just make sure it’s actually abandoned

8:42 The purple pigments in a lot of fruits and vegetables are pH sensitive. They looked redder in acidic conditions and bluer when alkaline. I don't know if some dish soap got mixed in, but your local tap water must be alkaline!

could be! I know very little about them but the fenceline they are growing on has about 4 distinct plants accross about 100ft. I kept the seeds so i will try growing out some more vines or give them too ppl

@@TechplantChannelgrapes are not true to seed so if u want ones that taste same to those you collected you should take cuttings instead but i get that its less fun than growing from seeds c:

The juice looks beautiful but you need to heat it until it reaches 220' and it wouldn't have had a problem seeing up. Grapes have a good natural amount of pectin. Oh and make sure you wipe the top off your jars before putting the lids on!
