I started the Chosen thinking it was a Roman themed history show, true story. By the end of the first episode I was wiping tears and hooked. Never would of given it the time of day if I knew the premise, another depiction of Jesus, but man I would of missed out on something special.

I also discovered it a few weeks ago and binged it. Actually just finished watching season 1 again and I’m starting season 2 for the second time. I love Jesus and the Chosen is a show I can watch without having to worry about straying away from my God. People that criticize it don’t understand the power of it because they want the show to be completely biblically accurate. I read the Bible when I want biblical accuracy, I watch The Chosen when I want to relax and get the message of God on my couch during my free time.

You may be right. But I have found myself sometimes turned off when writers go too far the other way; trying too hard to depict Jesus as relatable, as another version of 'us.' I still find 'Jesus of Nazareth' series by Franco Zeffirelli to be a masterpiece, although it leans very heavy towards showing the perfection of Christ, and not much on his relatability. For me, in the end, I am drawn to Christ because of His divinity; that is what sets Him apart from any other 'good' or inspiring leader.

@@ericballi4701 To sort of piggyback off what you've said, we Christians should use caution when watching an artist's depiction of our saviour Jesus Christ. We should never fall into the trap of saying to ourselves, "This must be who Jesus is."
Do not substitute the Jesus of the Chosen series or any other entertainment media as the Truth, the Way, and the Life that is Jesus Christ of the scriptures.

Lots of folks here that are upset that Jesus is depicted as a charismatic and inspirational person during His time on earth. The Chosen allows for people today to find some commonality with the Gospel. That leads to curiosity and questions about the person of Jesus. Naturally leading some to a Christ centered church and the reading of that big dusty book on the shelf. This show has expanded the reach of Christianity to many who never would have had that exposure.

For what it's worth, the original manuscripts of the gospels and the new testament would have in all likelihood been in Greek, which wasn't the language Jesus would have spoken and was not directly written by Jesus and not always first-hand accounts and finally were very likely not written for a time after Jesus' death and resurrection. I believe the word is as God intended, but I wouldn't be too quick to discount God's willingness to speak through the perceived flaws in our communication. There are many details we do not know, and so long as things are not outright rejected, changed or go against what we know and understand, I do not blame anyone for being able to connect to the stories in this show. But I understand the tension! I do think a strong sense of awareness and intentionally testing what is said on Jesus' (and other's) account is smart.

We don't even know if what's in the Bible is accurate due to the church and potential human editorializing, manipulating, and error.
The only thing that one can know with certainty is the love Christ had for those he came into contact with.
So capture that love. You capture Jesus. Everything else is potentially flawed and altered.

If you think the bible has been manipulated, you lack a fundamental understanding of historical documents, how they're preserved, handled, and interpreted. The new testament alone, there are over 2,000 scrolls and fragments of scrolls scattered in universities and museums across the world. How do you manipulate and change that? Are you proposing that somebody broke into 500+ museums and universities, altered the original ancient manuscripts in a way that is undetectable, then snuck back out without getting caught? Also you can't change the gospel of Matthew in one museum without someone noticing. So you'd have to move fast enough that when they go to double check it against another manuscript somewhere else, your crazy perfect, undetectable alterations match each other.
That is literally one of the stupidest, most poorly thought-out conspiracy theories I have ever heard of.
