I think one of the most powerful parts about this scene is when Jesus has tears in his eyes and says, "Then I cannot save you." Imagine a Father saying this to His children because they will not accept His words or His salvation. This scene was so tastefully done!

It's actually reflective of society today. The people who are traditional and religious are considered the biggest rebels in society today. And a lot of us speak about world control, which is true, but not accepted by society. Many Jews in his time were also not accepting of Jesus, and still consider him a most damaging false prophet. Jews can't even acknowledge that he was a guy who gave good advice which lasted the test of time, and entire civilizations were built around his teachings.
unfortunately, this is how men of God are treated. I was treated like this growing up. People want to hold onto false power, beliefs, and control. They want to remain slave to it. I never been to jail, traveled and did good works, have a masters degree, etc. but people still treat me like a criminal for upholding the truth. Weird times.

Jesus stopped just short of telling Rabbi Benjamin that the date and circumstances of His earthly departure have already been pre-set---but not by him and not today..The ending nod by Jesus to the Father in Heaven was a fitting conclusion !!!
This was a great moment in the show. It showed he had no fear at all. He about to be tossed off a cliff and before they even got to him he steps forward looks them dead in the eyes and says. This not gone happen today and the walks away calmly. It shows how brave he was.

The book of Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is NOT the law of Moses; but the mediator of a "new covenant." Chapter 9:15. And Hebrews states, "He sets aside the first to establish the second" in chapter 10 verse 9. The Chosen is deceiving you all, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the garden because she did not remember God's word and therefore misquoted what God said and fell for a clever lie wrapped in partial truth.

It’s only in the Book of Mormon that Jesus said “I am the Law of Moses”, and the Chosen is like 52-56% owned by Mormons. This bugged me for like 30 seconds, but now I don’t care. What’s important is the message and how the show moves me to want to live as Jesus taught us, not who has a controlling interest in the show. As Dallas Jenkins said, this show is not meant to replace scripture. It’s entertainment, but it’s also the most profound and impactful entertainment that we’ve ever seen. Besides Passion Of The Christ that is. I just love how this show humanizes and deifies Jesus at the same time.
I really like the subtle supernatural elements of this scene. Notice how when Jesus walks away from the cliff, nobody in the crowd even looks at or tries to stop him. Almost as if they are frozen in place.

And it lends even more acknowledgment that He WILLINGLY sacrificed Himself for our sins when He could have just has easily said “Nah, I’m not getting up on that cross today.” Praise be - Jesus Christ, our lord and savior.

I love how this adaptation makes the people of Nazareth so... human. I was used to read the passage as if they were some monsters ready to kill one of their own, but this interpretation is so refreshing, it helps you see how we all rejected him the same way at some point. I love how they are not happy to kill him, they seem certain they must do it if he doesn't take back his words, but you can see how much it hurts the rabi to have to execute one of his former students. They might not believe he is the messiah, but they still believed he was a man of Nazareth like everyone else, one of their own.

@@williamschlass6371 While Jesus was on earth, Heaven was not empty. God is a trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You have to understand God is outside of time and space. He views everything at all times at once. God limited his power when he came to earth as a man. Jesus was God but in human form. Jesus felt time the same way we do. He felt pain, hunger, suffering just like any man. Yes Jesus is a part of God's trinity, but he is also God the Father's Son.

This scene is one of my all time favorites on the Chosen. Jesus says, "I am not here for vengence. I am here for salvation." So powerful and to the point. And the ultimate icing on the cake when Jesus says, "I am the law of Moses." Oh halelujah! I can only imagine being there and hearing those precious, holy powerful words Jesus spoke at that very moment! Praise his holy name! 🙏🕊️ This entire scene was very well acted out. Well done everyone
@kst2456 The line “I am the law of Moses” was never said by Jesus because it was not in the Bible. He said he came to fulfill the law but he never said he WAS the law. In fact, that line is more similar to a verse from the Book of Mormon. There are a lot of unbiblical lines and events and storylines in The Chosen. I would encourage you to read your Bible thoroughly especially the Gospels and filter The Chosen through God’s Word.

Perhaps the part in this scene that touched my heart the most is when Jesus says that He can not save us unless we accept we are spiritually poor, captives, and blind... amazing. This scene in the "Chosen" beautifully truly exposes that Theological 'maxim' that has to do with the primacy of the human will: God will save me only if I repent... amazing. Jesus is beyond words... can't wait to see Him and be with Him in His Glory forever

"...I cannot save you" This scene is so powerful. You can see the actual pain and sorrow in His eyes as he so desperately wants to save all people because of his absolute love for his children, but His heart breaks knowing that many of them would not welcome His salvation.

I love the look on the face of Lazarus’ sister the whole time. She’s the only true believer in the room besides Mother Mary, and her face is saying “this is it! He’s gonna do it! The Messiah is revealing Himself!!!”
Actually in this scene the sisters of Lazarus, Mary and Martha, are seated next to Mary. The believer you speak of is Ramah who at this time is bethroed to Thomas.

God being 'Existing Consciousness' incarnate. What a mind-blowing revelation. We mortals have to add a modifier: "I am Veckoza." "I am hungry." "I am happy." "I am tired." But God is solely, "I am." Tolkien said it best. "The story of Christ is where Myth touched Reality."
This is one of, if not THE most powerful 💖 moment in the entire series! The Lord Jesus laid it right in front of them all when He said, "I AM the Law of Moses." And watching that scene, made me realize I could be even bolder than I've already been in my faith, because Jesus put it all out there for me, and everyone else! I enjoyed the scene too. It feels "figuratively" correct. But nowhere in the Bible is Jesus quoted as saying he is the Law of Moses. It's important to keep this in mind while watching the show, that much of the dialogue and "color" are fictional accounts, and we should view them as theater, not scripture. Looking at it another way, if Jesus is and was the Son and is and was God, he most certainly is the law. But did Jesus the man say it? We can't say that he did.

If He denied His words, they would’ve had a leg to stand on with the claim that He was falsely prophesying. As it was, because He stood by what He said, they couldn’t do anything. The specific law of the time states that someone is a false prophet if their prophecies don’t come true, but since everything Jesus was prophesying was for the future, there was nothing to prove yet.

Growing up in a Catholic family, I always believed, but then things happened in my life, and I lost my belief. But since I found this show and starting watching it since it came out, I feel a new sence of faith.
Jesus IS present in the Holy Eucharist, He has been waiting for you there in the tabernacle and for you to receive Him in the Mass. Receive His mercy in the sacrament of confession first, and afterwards, receive His most holy precious body and blood in the holy sacrifice of the Mass. I love this scene as a reminder that everything happens in God's timing, not the timing of the world. Love this scene and the end line, "Not today..." He knew that His death was coming but He had work left to do and wasn't going to let others overtake Him until it was for God's plan and timing to proceed!
The problem is, " If God walk among us like the old days, do we accept and acknowledge him? Even, today there is no place for him that gives us life and law.
Oh, how I love this scene! Can you imagine what it was like for Jesus to read His own words as a man to this gathering of His family, friends, and teacher? All that was prophesied about Him is unfolding, and the heart-felt pain as they (those who knew Him best) denied who He was and that He should be punished. Jesus reminds us in this action that we must continue to hold fast to His hand even as our families and friends reject the depth of faith we are called to. Well done, The Chosen Team, for telling of this Truth so beautifully and honestly. Let everyone chose this day whom they will serve.
They only wanted to hear what He had to say if it was what they wanted to hear. No wonder most people are lost today. We need You, Jesus. Your return will be the most beautiful moment in the history of mankind.
The book of Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is NOT the law of Moses; but the mediator of a "new covenant." Chapter 9:15. And Hebrews states, "He sets aside the first to establish the second" in chapter 10 verse 9. The Chosen is deceiving you all, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the garden because she did not remember God's word and therefore misquoted what God said and fell for a clever lie wrapped in partial truth.
When Jesus answered, "Yes," thst brought shivers to my spine & joy to my soul but also fear because I knew a lot of them would not respond correctly. I'm so glad Jesus came here for me (making it personal), 1st, then for the world. 😍🥰
@@austinbryant5787 Jesus said much that wasn't in scriptures...I imagine that the jokes he told his friends to cheer them up and whatnot, but this show takes a small bit of harmless artistic and cultural liberty in it's production...Jesus WAS the law of Moses, and as Jesus lived to his 30s, he would have undoubtedly said much more than that which we find in the New Testament. He did say: "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me, for he wrote of me." - John 5:47.

@@austinbryant5787 Granted, the show isn’t 100% accurate, but they prefaced that at the very beginning. After all, the events are 2000 years old, and our records of the time aren’t hyper-specific. But at the same time, I think they’re doing a lot right. He was the author of the law, its bestower, and its fulfillment. I’d say that makes him the fullness of the law, so… Matthew could have been autistic to some degree. There is some evidence based on how his account is written that he was more traditionally intelligent than the other authors. We don’t know for sure, and the show doesn’t explicitly say why he is how he is, so it’s actually an excellent way to characterize him so when people inevitably read his actual words: they can better relate to how it is written and find the light within his words.

I was just re watching this yesterday, and with earphones on. I feel like I could feel the tension! Something I overlooked the first time I watched it. The realness to Jesus's childhood friends, and how they turned against him. The panic in his mother Mary... I could feel all that emotion. I know his crucifixion is coming in this series and It's making me so sad, realizing even more the realness of what he did for us.
My heart aches over this scene & the lack of understanding. But the big question in my mind is where would I have stood in this crowd; supportive or condemning? Done so beautifully to draw me closer to Jesus!

In the same way we cannot see our own eyes, or hear our own ears. It is HE within, that's sees, hears and feels. HE is from within (above), the idea of you is from without (below).
One of the most fascinating aspects of this production is how believable and grounded they portray Jesus. The intervening 2000 years of art and general reverence makes it hard to believe how the people of that time could have rejected Him, but seeing His mortal life (& the context of it) portrayed in such a way puts the situation in a new light. This scene is a good example of that.
The show is going to save a lot of people by finally showing things in a realistic light and thus making it relatable beyond the dooming feel of the medieval English version of the original translations. That wall that felt like it was in between the reader and the words is finally made clear and allows people who read further to get and understand some of the things blocked by these barriers. This is all part of in the later years how "knowledge (and understanding) will increase."
When Jesus says, "I Am the Law of Moses", my entire soul swelled up with joy. To hear Lazarus tell Jesus that he is not helping a situation made me laugh so loudly. It was like John the Baptist's unexpected "YEAH!!!!!" after Jesus expelled the demon from the posessed man entering their camp.

For 2 reasons: • As someone who loves Jesus & knows what he is about to go through this episode. • As someone who lost a father recently & at a young age also. It makes little difference HOW ones eyes are opened to the Lord, only that they ARE opened to the Lord. This show will be the introduction to eternal salvation for a multitude who otherwise would never have sought after it. 'The times they are a changin', and this show is modernities equivalent of a revival. Do not disparage those whose eyes will be opened by the means which allow them to be opened. Praise be to Jesus, who, along with The Holy Spirit, is undoubtedly using this series as a vessel to bring a message and truth, which is under constant assault and ridicule by academia, democrats, and popular media, to those who would listen and learn and take it...
I think one of the most powerful parts about this scene is when Jesus has tears in his eyes and says, "Then I cannot save you." Imagine a Father saying this to His children because they will not accept His words or His salvation. This scene was so tastefully done!

It's actually reflective of society today. The people who are traditional and religious are considered the biggest rebels in society today. And a lot of us speak about world control, which is true, but not accepted by society. Many Jews in his time were also not accepting of Jesus, and still consider him a most damaging false prophet. Jews can't even acknowledge that he was a guy who gave good advice which lasted the test of time, and entire civilizations were built around his teachings.
unfortunately, this is how men of God are treated. I was treated like this growing up. People want to hold onto false power, beliefs, and control. They want to remain slave to it. I never been to jail, traveled and did good works, have a masters degree, etc. but people still treat me like a criminal for upholding the truth. Weird times.

This was a great moment in the show. It showed he had no fear at all. He about to be tossed off a cliff and before they even got to him he steps forward looks them dead in the eyes and says. This not gone happen today and the walks away calmly.

The book of Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is NOT the law of Moses; but the mediator of a "new covenant." Chapter 9:15. And Hebrews states, "He sets aside the first to establish the second" in chapter 10 verse 9. The Chosen is deceiving you all, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the garden because she did not remember God's word and therefore misquoted what God said and fell for a clever lie wrapped in partial truth.

It’s only in the Book of Mormon that Jesus said “I am the Law of Moses”, and the Chosen is like 52-56% owned by Mormons. This bugged me for like 30 seconds, but now I don’t care. What’s important is the message and how the show moves me to want to live as Jesus taught us, not who has a controlling interest in the show. As Dallas Jenkins said, this show is not meant to replace scripture. It’s entertainment, but it’s also the most profound and impactful entertainment that we’ve ever seen. Besides Passion Of The Christ that is. I just love how this show humanizes and deifies Jesus at the same time.

I really like the subtle supernatural elements of this scene. Notice how when Jesus walks away from the cliff, nobody in the crowd even looks at or tries to stop him. Almost as if they are frozen in place.
Really good point. I love how the show LEANS into God’s power, but without overarching special effects. I noticed this too, in the scene. And it lends even more acknowledgment that He WILLINGLY sacrificed Himself for our sins when He could have just has easily said “Nah, I’m not getting up on that cross today.”

I love how this adaptation makes the people of Nazareth so... human. I was used to read the passage as if they were some monsters ready to kill one of their own, but this interpretation is so refreshing, it helps you see how we all rejected him the same way at some point.
I love how they are not happy to kill him, they seem certain they must do it if he doesn't take back his words, but you can see how much it hurts the rabi to have to execute one of his former students. They might not believe he is the messiah, but they still believed he was a man of Nazareth like everyone else, one of their own.

He views everything at all times at once. God limited his power when he came to earth as a man. Jesus was God but in human form. Jesus felt time the same way we do. He felt pain, hunger, suffering just like any man. Yes Jesus is a part of God's trinity, but he is also God the Father's Son.

@kst2456 The line “I am the law of Moses” was never said by Jesus because it was not in the Bible. He said he came to fulfill the law but he never said he WAS the law. In fact, that line is more similar to a verse from the Book of Mormon. There are a lot of unbiblical lines and events and storylines in The Chosen. I would encourage you to read your Bible thoroughly especially the Gospels and filter The Chosen through God’s Word.

Perhaps the part in this scene that touched my heart the most is when Jesus says that He can not save us unless we accept we are spiritually poor, captives, and blind... amazing. This scene is so powerful. You can see the actual pain and sorrow in His eyes as he so desperately wants to save all people because of his absolute love for his children, but His heart breaks knowing that many of them would not welcome His salvation.

I enjoyed the scene too. It feels "figuratively" correct. But nowhere in the Bible is Jesus quoted as saying he is the Law of Moses. It's important to keep this in mind while watching the show, that much of the dialogue and "color" are fictional accounts, and we should view them as theater, not scripture. Looking at it another way, if Jesus is and was the Son and is and was God, he most certainly is the law. But did Jesus the man say it? We can't say that he did.

I love how Jesus stood by the cliff and didn't deny His Words, knowing exactly that they wouldn't be able to do anything to Him❤
If He denied His words, they would’ve had a leg to stand on with the claim that He was falsely prophesying. As it was, because He stood by what He said, they couldn’t do anything. The specific law of the time states that someone is a false prophet if their prophecies don’t come true, but since everything Jesus was prophesying was for the future, there was nothing to prove yet.
Jesus obeys the law of Moses perfectly and fulfills the law completely. STOP WATCHING THIS SHOW.

Growing up in a Catholic family, I always believed, but then things happened in my life, and I lost my belief. But since I found this show and starting watching it since it came out, I feel a new sence of faith.

I love how jesus has no fear but everybody around him.
I love this scene as a reminder that everything happens in God's timing, not the timing of the world. Love this scene and the end line, "Not today..." He knew that His death was coming but He had work left to do and wasn't going to let others overtake Him until it was for God's plan and timing to proceed!
I loved that they had him say it because whatever the LORD speaks, it will happen- and we can do nothing but watch it happen. ❤
The problem is, " If God walk among us like the old days, do we accept and acknowledge him? Even, today there is no place for him that gives us life and law.
Oh, how I love this scene! Can you imagine what it was like for Jesus to read His own words as a man to this gathering of His family, friends, and teacher? All that was prophesied about Him is unfolding, and the heart-felt pain as they (those who knew Him best) denied who He was and that He should be punished. Jesus reminds us in this action that we must continue to hold fast to His hand even as our families and friends reject the depth of faith we are called to.

The book of Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is NOT the law of Moses; but the mediator of a "new covenant." Chapter 9:15. And Hebrews states, "He sets aside the first to establish the second" in chapter 10 verse 9. The Chosen is deceiving you all, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the garden because she did not remember God's word and therefore misquoted what God said and fell for a clever lie wrapped in partial truth.

@@austinbryant5787 Jesus said much that wasn't in scriptures...I imagine that the jokes he told his friends to cheer them up and whatnot, but this show takes a small bit of harmless artistic and cultural liberty in it's production...Jesus WAS the law of Moses, and as Jesus lived to his 30s, he would have undoubtedly said much more than that which we find in the New Testament. He did say: "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me, for he wrote of me." - John 5:47.

Granted, the show isn’t 100% accurate, but they prefaced that at the very beginning. After all, the events are 2000 years old, and our records of the time aren’t hyper-specific. But at the same time, I think they’re doing a lot right.
He was the author of the law, its bestower, and its fulfillment. I’d say that makes him the fullness of the law, so…
Matthew could have been autistic to some degree. There is some evidence based on how his account is written that he was more traditionally intelligent than the other authors. We don’t know for sure, and the show doesn’t explicitly say why he is how he is, so it’s actually an excellent way to characterize him so when people inevitably read his actual words: they can better relate to how it is written and find the light within his words.

I was just re watching this yesterday, and with earphones on. I feel like I could feel the tension! Something I overlooked the first time I watched it. The realness to Jesus's childhood friends, and how they turned against him. The panic in his mother Mary... I could feel all that emotion. I know his crucifixion is coming in this series and It's making me so sad, realizing even more the realness of what he did for us.
That's why I am not as 'EXCITED" ABOUT the next shows in the series......No "joy" until the Resurrection. Sigh.

In the same way we cannot see our own eyes, or hear our own ears. It is HE within, that's sees, hears and feels. HE is from within (above), the idea of you is from without (below).

One of the most fascinating aspects of this production is how believable and grounded they portray Jesus. The intervening 2000 years of art and general reverence makes it hard to believe how the people of that time could have rejected Him, but seeing His mortal life (& the context of it) portrayed in such a way puts the situation in a new light. This scene is a good example of that.
The show is going to save a lot of people by finally showing things in a realistic light and thus making it relatable beyond the dooming feel of the medieval English version of the original translations. That wall that felt like it was in between the reader and the words is finally made clear and allows people who read further to get and understand some of the things blocked by these barriers. This is all part of in the later years how "knowledge (and understanding) will increase."
When Jesus says, "I Am the Law of Moses", my entire soul swelled up with joy. To hear Lazarus tell Jesus that he is not helping a situation made me laugh so loudly. It was like John the Baptist's unexpected "YEAH!!!!!" after Jesus expelled the demon from the posessed man entering their camp.
I love you my lord Jesus Christ, all power and glory is yours almighty father forever and ever in the father the son and the Holy Spirit and his kingdom will have no end.
I have so much love for the lord, my heart is close to bursting. Praise God.

He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous. She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such is Allah ; He creates what He wills.
When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is. He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel, And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah .
And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead - by permission of Allah . And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers.
And [I have come] confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me. God is my Lord and your Lord, so serve Him- that is a straight path.
When Jesus realized they [still] did not believe, he said, ‘Who will help me in God’s cause?’ The disciples said, ‘We will be God’s helpers; we believe in God- witness our devotion to Him. Lord, we believe in what You have revealed and we follow the messenger: record us among those who bear witness [to the Truth].’
And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners. Mention] when Allah said, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ." (Quran 03:42-55)

How they portray the pause before he reads is exactly how it works when someone is listening to the holy spirit. There is a pause because that's how you listen. Just amazing work on this!

It makes little difference HOW ones eyes are opened to the Lord, only that they ARE opened to the Lord. This show will be the introduction to eternal salvation for a multitude who otherwise would never have sought after it. 'The times they are a changin', and this show is modernities equivalent of a revival. Do not disparage those whose eyes will be opened by the means which allow them to be opened. Praise be to Jesus, who, along with The Holy Spirit, is undoubtedly using this series as a vessel to bring a message and truth, which is under constant assault and ridicule by academia, democrats, and popular media, to those who would listen and learn and take it...
