    If you see any seepage of oil at the new bushing/seal at all(even a little bit), then you need to recheck your drive shaft angles. It can be binding the slip yoke in there when you drive. This wouldn’t be noticeable in the driveway be this transmission is designed with a self lubricating bushing, as you’re probably aware.
    I had an issue like this on a 4l80e in a GMC Sierra when the DS was just slightly too long. Also, the vibration could be from excessive forward pressure on on the converter. It’s typically a th400 problem, but I’ve seen a lot of these performance built 80e’s destroy engine thrust bearings. You might want to check your crank shaft endplay the next time you pull your fan belt off. Btw, I had the same exact vibration you’re describing. Trans had a shift kit, dual feed mod, and circle d 3200

    Very nice El Camino. Not many of them that i really liked the looks of. You can tell you've put a lot of time and work into that one with one look at that undercarriage.

    Aweshomeness. 600hp bigblock in a Chevelle el camino cant wait to see you at the track testing this thing and some more docile drives with it, its fun to watch you drive it. ibet fuel economy is a lot better with the 4l80E now and the bigger torque and hp. it probably don't need 6500 rpm in its band, it prolly likes 5000, 5500 or 6000 maybe best icould be wrong its got a lot of thick power. Can't wait to see a dyno tune with it. keep up the awe inspiring fascinating build of this real ultimate muscle car performance driver.

    hey man, do remember if your vibration would come and go on acceleration at different speeds, and go away when lifting off the gas? I recently had a leak out the extension housing, changed the seal, and thought the u-joints may have been the culprit. Changed the joints, but noticed the leak continued, as did the vibration here and there. Great video and sweet car!

    Cool video series on the Elky!! Sweet ride. But the Elky videos just dropped off last July. What's up with the 1970 Elky? You can't leave us hanging like that! More Elky videos please.

    Which yoke are you using? Stock? Also. That driveshaft must be custom because it needs a slip component built in to it? Who built the driveshaft?
    Thanks for the video.

    I’m gonna guess that’s gonna leak again. You should have checked the runout on that output shaft. Unless it was just warm out o rings on the sleeve

  • @39700101
    @39700101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Taylor Smith did you check the angles of your yolk and pinion? If the angles are not the same the driveshaft will fight itself and cause a drivetrain vibration at a random MPH. You may have to shim that rear

    Hello Taylor. I’m swapping my 700r4 for the 4l80e. I ran into a similar issue. My 4l80e has a bolt on yolk style. My driveshaft is slip on yolk. Have you heard of the driveshaft yolks by Denny’s driveshaft?they will make a bolt on style work with my slip on driveshaft yolk. I just have to remove the inner o ring for proper lubrication of yolk splines.

    Nice vid will a worn out tailshaft bushing cause a faint clicking noise ?

  • @GenteDeArranke

    did this solve your leak for good?
    i have been battling this leak, and was told that the long spline output shaft (just like the one you have) needs the slip joke. the bolt on yoke is for the short spline output shaft (the one that uses that o-ring that you didn't end up installing) Aside from the leak, from what i've learned is that using the short bolt on yoke with the long spline output shaft will eventually break the output shaft because there isn't full engagement of the splines. I have the long spline output shaft with the bolt on yoke and no matter how many times i changed every seal and bushing, it would eventually leak.
