  • In this video I am installing my new Progressive 444 rear shocks on my 2021 Indian Scout Bobber. Honestly one of the most easy installs I've done! Stay tuned to the channel for a follow up video where I'll discuss the selection process, why I chose them, and a later review!

    That part where you actually sat and showed the difference between stock shocks and this. What a HUGE difference. You're the first person to show that visually.. Great video brother.. Dadwithbike, Messy garage and now yours are all blessing to the Indian scout bobber community..

      Wow, thank you for the praise! I'm just trying to help the community out, and it makes me happy to know you appreciate it! MessyGarage's 444 install video, he shows his shock travel before and after on the exact same stretch of road. It's pretty cool too, but me bouncing on the bike was a good as I could do haha

    I put 11.5 on mine without the jack stand, just used the kickstand, I used a ratchet strap to compress the shocks down, changed one shock at a time. Yep jack stand may have made it easier but I had to work with what I had.

    It's always funny to hear people with newer Scouts complain about their suspension...lol
    If you only knew what us early buyers were given!
    If you take a couple pieces of slightly angled trim and set it across your lift it will stabilize the bike. The scout has a kind of ridge down the middle so the angled trim pieces help to make it square and more stable. I think I have a photo somewhere of mine. I'll send it to your FB.
    Edit: well NVM, I couldn't find a photo where the bike wasn't covering it. It's just like a two inch wide piece of trim with a small angle to it on both sides of the jacks arms. I'm sure you'll sort it out.

    As I ride in far western Colorado, Utah, northern Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana finding gas can be iffy..Could you please recommend a safe way to carry 2 1 gallon gas cans/pack things on my scout bobber 60?

    • @Jimbobbington
      @Jimbobbington  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hepco & Becker makes a nice one to carry a 5L can but it's expensive AF! Your best bet is something like this from Hemisphere Performance that can mount 32oz bottles in various locations.

    Just wondering if you looked at Ohlins or saw any reviews? - I like their name but not sure if they’ll be better than 444s

    • @Jimbobbington
      @Jimbobbington  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I did a ton of research for a long time, and I love the look of the external reservoir style, but ultimately I decided something like that was overkill for me. I'm thinking about doing a video where I discuss my thought process and why I settled on the 444s.

    • @paulrobinson8363
      @paulrobinson8363 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jimbobbington that would be great. I’m going through the same thought process and the reservoirs do look sexy, but do they add real value/benefit?

    • @Jimbobbington
      @Jimbobbington  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paulrobinson8363 I'm sure they do, if you know what you're doing. I feel confident i can set preload correctly based on trial and error, however add two more variables on top of that, dampening and rebound, and I highly doubt I can dial that in correctly and could just end up making the ride worse

    Mr. JIM I'm trying to buy the progressive 444 standard 11.5 shocks but everyone I click on it says it doesn't fit my 2021 indian scout bobber. Please help

    • @Jimbobbington
      @Jimbobbington  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Likely because 11.5" is not the oem length of the bobber shocks. 4247B is the part number of the 11.5" standard duty shocks I bought, so as long as you have the right part number, you'll be fine!

  • @MrPoliarinis

    • @Jimbobbington

    What is the reason you have chosen different size of shocks from the stocks ?

    • @Jimbobbington
      @Jimbobbington  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1/2" isn't going to make a huge difference in appearance of the back end, but that extra travel should help improve the shocks performance from an 11" option.
