The best part about the car is the 3 pedals and engagement of truly using the vehicle.... Not just pushing the pedal down. As the original owner of a 2013 Gen 5 Viper, I can tell you that no other car I have owned or driven compares to it. While the Demon is a fantastic car, unless you know cars very well, the Demon looks just like the thousands and thousands of other Challengers on the road. There is no confusing my Viper with someone's six-cylinder grocery getter. Besides, they only produced around 700 Gen 5 Vipers the first year and around the same each year until 2017. So, there are very few out in the wild.
Lamborghini helped with the casting. Period. That's it. I'm soooooo tired of the bs that Lamborghini had to help chrysler with anything. If it wasn't fir chrysler that Italian crap company wouldn't exist
@peter Lambo got a V10 engine in 2003 after they were bought by VW. The only 8L V10 engine that was in production when the Viper was conecptualized/designed was the Magnum V10. The Magnum V10 is also 8L like the original Viper V10.
There are virtually no common parts between the Viper and the Ram engines. The blocks are different, the heads are different, the intake and exhaust manifolds are different... about the only common thing is the bore spacing and the fact that they are both 2-valve pushrod V10's. The Lambo V10 is 100% different though. Much smaller and DOHC.
Interesting how we are unhappy that Chrysler killed off the Viper to make room for HEAVY, EXRREME HORSEPOWER, CLUMSY HANDLINE high-displacement 2 door car.
I owned 2 Vipers back in my 30's! I owned a 1994 Red RT/10 and a 2002 Red GTS. In 2013 Viper Gen 5 was fantastic to me but too expensive and poor reliability lost me as a customer!

There will always something special about classic hand-built halo cars, like the Viper, the Ford GT, the Lexus LFA and a few others. These cars just get under the skin of the Lambos, Ferraris & Mclarens of the world.
The viper is just an overall crowning achievement in design. Seriously the artists behind its design as well as the engineers pulled together some beautiful designs. I really hope it comes back some day.
As cool as the Hellcat is under the hood to me a car has to be stylish. But that's just my opinion and luckily there's cars out there for people with other opinions.

The Viper team on the other hand deserve all of the congratulations. I'll take that back... It's unfair to Dodge.
The didn't offer an automatic or an entry level V8. Its would have been competitive with the corvette market if they did. An ideal lineup: A 6.4 Liter R/T trim (500hp) A Hellcat powered GTS (700+hp) A V10 ACR model for track work (650 hp)

Video is your interpretation. The truth is the airbag situation that you referenced coupled with poor sales because of the wrong person put in charge of its marketing killed it. That person sent beat up Vipers with mismatched tires to magazine shootouts. Lots of bad press due to that before the car even went on sale. Who does that with a new model? SRT tried to take the Viper upscale but had no business sense, the dealer infrastructure etc to truly support the upscale Viper. They aimed at Porsche, Ferrari and so on but had little idea how to market the car. It was doomed from the start because they had incompetent people in marketing and dealer networks. Had nothing to do with the hellcats etc. Got to love how easily people are misled these days.
The most unforgiving, unapologetic and spartan supercar there was. It demands respect as soon as you get in, and it tells you straight up: "Don't be a cocky fool, because I WILL kill you'
I see the viper was a product of his own time for when the charger and challenger came in. It brought a piece of that action to the people not to the select few.
Yet the Demon/Hellcat line wasn't really out before the Viper went out for the SECOND time, due to emissions, livability and practicality; things that caused it to get out of production the first time.
Too bad they won’t give the viper the hellcat treatment - ugr vipers and others push 3300hp, why not make a twin turbo edition that makes 1500 hp and call it the pit viper as it’s final bang. Or something similar you get my drift
3:38 that glasses guy in a sweater has a very very long list of crimes against the automotive. And the SRT Viper it's a miracle in itself it went produced under him, since it was internal competition for Ferrari.
I think the biggest issue was safety/livability & not acceptable to the vast majority. pretty much a sports car for 1% of the population. It was, unfortunately, a little too expensive, and too close to cost to European competitors despite being faster. I could care less about the safety but wish the car was a little cheaper, hopefully sometime in the future it'll be revived, most likely as an ev or hybrid. Until then... R.I.P. my dream car :/
A little too expensive? As compared to what? Dodge Chargers? If anything, they sold them way too cheap. They downmarketed them because the "average Joe" American thought they were just simple sportscars that they SHOULD be able to afford. And that's what made most of it's potential buyers lose interest. It might sound crazy, but people often judge something by it's price. At 100.000 it was cheaper than most of it's European counterparts, and those sold a LOT more. Why? Because they were marketed as SPECIAL cars, for a certain group of people, who LOVE expensive, special things. Selling something to the 1% at a low price, is almost an insult.
@@xXturbo86Xx i’m not disagreeing, you gotta look at the vast majority.. the viper isn’t a normal friendly sports car.. Majority of people aren’t going to be attracted to a car that’s known to be dangerous and lacked safety until the 5th gen came out.. It also only came in a manual, which debunks at least 90% of the population cause most can’t drive stick.. I mean when you look at the philosophy of the viper it was never intended to sell, if anything dodge was actually losing money making the viper, it’s a halo car, which most halo cars fail.. It boosted Dodges reputation to make more hellcats & scat packs, but when comparing the viper to other sports cars.. only offering a manual and lacking many features despite its dominance in performance, it was bound to fail financially…. i agree and i believe the price is worth it, which it is since vipers have shot up in value since the last one was built in 2017..
Back in 2011 I was looking around for a Viper for sale but the prices were way over what I was considering...then one day I spotted an alternative on a used car lot...a 2005 Ram SRT-10 with the Hurst 6-speed. We took it out for a half-hour cruise, came back and I asked...ok where do I sign???...snapped it up for $29K and still have it today and I never get bored driving it.
If they had made a hellViper , the Viper would still be here. 840 hp instead of 640 , with better downforce and stickier tires sounds like winning to me
Chrysler has been bought and sold so many times. Each time it's sold people come in with a new idea on what should be built. So it's the owner who decides what happens. Now it's about electric. Which will fail as well. Nothing electric will ever be mainstream

An 8 to 10 year old Viper GTS, GTC, SRT, or ACR still costs an eye watering more amount of money than a brand new Hellcat does right now. I've seen several listed for upwards of $300k, and saw one for almost $400k. I'm 44 and that was my dream car. 30 years later, I still have to value shop to find a gen that I really want, but can still afford....used.
Yes exactly. The Viper won the 24 hours of the Nürburgring! Why a legend like the Viper needs to go? It's such a pity! Damn why I am not in charge to descide that? Never ever I would let it go that the Dodge Viper disapears! You can't compare the Dodge Viper to a classic American Muscle Car! The Dodge Viper is more, much more. The Viper which could win the 24 hours hadn't any asistents. It was only the man and the machine with it's pure power! And the sound of that 8 liter V10! I can't believe it. I had a 94 Viper RT and a 99 GTS. Sold the GTS and traded the 94 for the 69 Chevelle SS396 in my avatar. Then sold the Chevelle. Have a Charger RT now but wish I kept my Vipers and the Chevelle! I always hoped Dodge would build a smaller version with some brake and stability additions. That would be a true Supercar even with a smaller V-8 Turbo engine.

NGL here, where I'm from, and the roads we have, if i had to choose between a Dodge Demon, Viper, or Hellcat, I'd choose the Hellcat. No point in having all that power if you have nowhere to unleash it. If i were in the U.S though, I'd choose the Viper. I personally value grip and control over a sh*t ton of power that I can't overcome in a straight f*cking line.
how they could revive the viper is to have viper branch off from dodge like ram did make different performance levels and toy around with the pricing to make them more affordable or competitively priced compared to the Corvette ,challenger, mustang etc
they killed the viper for lack of sales and now the prices are through the roof. the viper was a bargain exotic, you rarely see them and they aren't a dime a dozen like some sports cars are. if prices ever soften id love to get another ACR.
I love my Viper! “Easy to drive” Only 😺’s want a Vette. The Gen-V viper is easy to drive fast if you don’t suck at driving. Viper and Demon, might be brothers, but we know what one is loved more. More videos are still made about the viper than any other SRT models. Good video, was fun to watch.
Vettes aren’t for pussies but you own a viper, I’ll allow it… Nobody else can get away with that statement since owning a viper is the equivalent to living in Australia. It wants you dead but you rise above 😂
Imop they should've brought the viper back one last time and turned it up to 11 like they did with the challengers and chargers. Slap 2 fat twin spinners or a massive Supercharger in it and push it to 1000+. Give it an auto and manual option with the ACR track version and GTS just like normal. That would further solidify the vipers insane potential.
2:18 Bro, someone tried to correct me about this shit on the last video you made about the Viper. "DoN't cAlL iT MiD eNgiNe, iT's FRonT mId EngInE." Like, no. If the engine is behind the front wheels or in front of the rear wheels, it is officially mid engine. Those Porsche 911s aren't mid engined, they're respectively rear engined.
What I think killed the Viper was lack of a lower cost base model. Corvette ZR-1s and Mustang GT500s (and soon GTD) sell in tiny numbers compared to their respective lower trim siblings. Sales of the base models pay for the development of the higher trim models, while those higher trim models boost the sales of said base models by generating excitement. Had Dodge sold a Viper running a V8 for base Corvette money, it might still be around.

The best part about the car is the 3 pedals and engagement of truly using the vehicle.... Not just pushing the pedal down. While I agree, that's probably the real factor, it's the heritage of the car. And I'm happy they didn't budge on that. And honestly one of several reasons I don't see the Viper ever returning. It was a good run, and I think it's long term value (financially and emotionally) will continue to increase as vehicles continue to move away from driver focused vehicles.
@@bsmitley True, but by offering both options the car would definitely still be around, at least until the end of this year since Dodge decided to kill it self by going EV and scrapping all V8+ engines at the end of the 2023 model year.
What kind of moron can't drive a manual? That requires a special level of lame.
Aut, hell nah. For a Sports car its better to have a manual bc that’s the only way to enjoy them. Auto is good bc it’s faster but I don’t see much fun on them when racing.
viper's manual transmission was something different, it was able to kill dct's idk how@@wraps_and_decals_by_daniel
1st time I had ever heard of a 10 cylinder engine (besides 1 or 2 Audi I believe). Though 12 cylinders were normal and eventually the W16. No one ever seemed to catch on to it.
That srt pacifica was badass by the way..
No I am not happy that that automotive company did what they did. I wish they could have fixed everything and couldn't kept the Viper going around for years after years after years I couldn't kept pushing it forward to. See the envelope of what they could have done with the Viper. That is one of my all time favorite cars that I would love to own and always. I'm gonna search to try to find one
Yes. Viper over a challenger all day anytime. Looks a whole heck of a lot better. 😍 it was ultra clique and bold as hell.
So, there are very few out in the wild.
the last gen viper and the 2005 Ford GT are so incredible to look at from all angles
One correction the V10 isnt a Lambo V10 but a V10 from a Ram of the era that was sent to Lambo for refinement....
Yes
I really hope they bring it back having seen this video.
They won't
Yeah, that'll work, just like protesting then all of a sudden the war ends. God you people are dumb
Maybe third time's the charm?
I owned 2 Vipers back in my 30's! I owned a 1994 Red RT/10 and a 2002 Red GTS. Unfortunately the 2003 redesign by Mercedes alienated those of Us who bought Vipers.
2003-2010 Gen 3 and Gen 4 Vipers are the years We i felt abandoned by Chrysler in my love for Viper. In 2013 Viper Gen 5 was fantastic to me but too expensive and poor reliability lost me as a customer!
If they put the 8 speed auto in the viper as a option it would sell way better
True, but that wasn't the purpose of the Viper. If you can't drive a manual, you don't deserve to drive a Viper. That's the way it was looked at.
@@Viper3048 but a viper has the most boring sounding v-10 too
@@Viper3048 but it was the worlds biggest production displacement engine ever put in a production company
@@DiaperSNiFFER 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
make sure that 8 speed was a zf that can handle 1.5x more power then it came with
If you want the short version Basically they canceled it because of the mpg and the fact that there was no space for airbags.
Straight line Dodge muscle car just got its a$$ kicked by a plaid battery car. Yet nothing comes close to "real racing" like the Viper did. That was a very special car.
In modern times the Viper is the only Dodge muscle/sports car I care for. I'm way more Camaro, Corvette, Mustang ect... fan of the 3. The Viper though! What's not to love about it!? It's one of the best American muscle cars ever made, hands down, no discussion... Period. I'd say that Dodge should be extremely proud but considering they had such a jewel on their hands but couldn't figure out how to help keep it on the road for very long... such a shame. The Viper team on the other hand deserve all of the congratulations. I'll take that back... It's unfair to Dodge.
The didn't offer an automatic or an entry level V8. Its would have been competitive with the corvette market if they did. An ideal lineup:
A 6.4 Liter R/T trim (500hp)
A Hellcat powered GTS (700+hp)
A V10 ACR model for track work (650 hp)
Then you miss the entire point of the viper.
@youtube sucks what viper? Its been out of production for years lol
@@mrbane8721lmao
@@Welcometofacsistube True… But sometimes you have to compromise on some things so that you can have what you want, ie, in this case, a continued production of the Viper. No reason they couldn't offer both MT and AT versions for those who wanted it. Better than having no Viper because nobody is buying.
I’d love to have a gen 5 viper even a base model is fine but god they just stay expensive. Gen 4 or 3 is nice but rather have that better interior. Hopefully they go down to an affordable price eventually
Demon is cool but viper V10 8.4 natural aspirated engine is my all time favorite super muscle 💪 car .....side exuasts that noise of monster without turbo spoiling is sensational ❤❤❤❤
viper is literally the most underrated supercar for some reason, why underrated well sales say enough.
As an owner of over 34 vipers, I say bring it back.. gen1 to 5,.,(albeit models XD) seriously bring back the VIPER!!!
Bullshit
Dude what
@@mk-19memelauncher65 Hey… Hot Wheels count, right?
Vipers getting popularity now that they're gone, prices gon be wild, I still need to buy me one y'all 😂
The most unforgiving, unapologetic and spartan supercar there was. It demands respect as soon as you get in, and it tells you straight up: "Don't be a cocky fool, because I WILL kill you'
I see the viper was a product of his own time for when the charger and challenger came in. It brought a piece of that action to the people not to the select few.
2:30
That is a hell of an understatement lol, I've only ever seen three in the wild the entire 30 years I've been on this planet.
Yet the Demon/Hellcat line wasn't really out before the Viper went out for the SECOND time, due to emissions, livability and practicality; things that caused it to get out of production the first time.
The hellcat came out in 2015 and the viper went out in 2017 while the demon came out in 2018
The viper actually went out because of side airbag requirements
Too bad they won’t give the viper the hellcat treatment - ugr vipers and others push 3300hp, why not make a twin turbo edition that makes 1500 hp and call it the pit viper as it’s final bang.
Or something similar you get my drift
I say let the Challenger and charger have it only up to the hellcat and then have the viper a tier above
The RX-7, LFA, and the Viper. All masterpieces no one gave a chance. Such a shame.
3:38 that glasses guy in a sweater has a very very long list of crimes against the automotive. And the SRT Viper it's a miracle in itself it went produced under him, since it was internal competition for Ferrari.
The last gen Viper was actually in development without his knowing. The story behind how the last Viper came forth almost cost Ralph his job.
They need to come out with a viper engine Challenger already
The Viper is the best sports car ever made.
There is no replacement for displacement.
Those bananas came at you because Pos-I-Traction was GM, MOPAR is Sure-Grip
Back in 2011 I was looking around for a Viper for sale but the prices were way over what I was considering...then one day I spotted an alternative on a used car lot...a 2005 Ram SRT-10 with the Hurst 6-speed. We took it out for a half-hour cruise, came back and I asked...ok where do I sign???...snapped it up for $29K and still have it today and I never get bored driving it.
Well y’all jinxed saying the viper is better than the challenger and charger (even though it is they’re all cool) now we won’t have any of em
I love what Dodge did with the Challengers but along with a lot of other folks commenting here, the Viper is still king in my eyes
If they had made a hellViper , the Viper would still be here. 840 hp instead of 640 , with better downforce and stickier tires sounds like winning to me
What you are looking for is the 9.0 liter V10 from prefix that makes 730hp to the wheels N/A
Chrysler has been bought and sold so many times. Each time it's sold people come in with a new idea on what should be built. So it's the owner who decides what happens. Now it's about electric. Which will fail as well. Nothing electric will ever be mainstream
With Ferrari,Maserati,Alfa under the same umbrella,it had to go------too expensive, not enough buyers! Nice car though!
RIP Dodge Viper, truly the king of Kings
I'll take a Viper over a Challenger every day of the week. Don't care what engine is in the Chally, I'm not a fan of boats. I'll take a Viper over a Vette for that matter, too.
Ill take a viper any day
If it ever comes back it's over for all competition 💯
I got my 2013 Viper GTS at $40,000 off MSRP. But I sold it and now I regret because it's now $165,000!
The viper even looks better than a challenger or charger.
As a kid, this was my dream car. 25 years later, Ill be the first guy in line to buy one if it ever comes back out again 🤞🏽.
Leave it to dodge to screw up the viper. And then we get the electric charger
Dodge is crap
Viper been in so many racing games . Test drive 6 was when I first saw the blue viper with white stripes line
Fun fact the rear window de frost on the viper would break the window sometimes
Yes exactly. The Viper won the 24 hours of the Nürburgring! Why a legend like the Viper needs to go? It's such a pity! Damn why I am not in charge to descide that? Never ever I would let it go that the Dodge Viper disapears! You can't compare the Dodge Viper to a classic American Muscle Car! The Dodge Viper is more, much more. The Viper which could win the 24 hours hadn't any asistents. It was only the man and the machine with it's pure power! And the sound of that 8 liter V10! I can't believe it. To me a world is broken and one of my favorite cars of my youth is gone and will disappear 😢
I love my Gen 1 Viper, it's one of the few cars that is respected by all car enthusiasts: tuners, classic cars, euro, etc.
Viper was good looking car i think it was 2013 giper cost around 179 thousand dollars every body's dream machine but couldn't afford it dodge challenger and charger was the best looking car. It looked mean.
No Twitter..? No Sub... 😶
Viper still among the greats on the nurburgring
@peter true but they could have done that with more affordable models
they killed the viper for lack of sales and now the prices are through the roof. the viper was a bargain exotic, you rarely see them and they aren't a dime a dozen like some sports cars are. if prices ever soften id love to get another ACR.
Viper is back
Dodge could make 10 hemispherically shaped cylinders yes I said it. A V-10 Hemi Viper
Viper is the only dodge that have V10
There is a also a v10 that can be found in 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 2500/3500.
@@24vp44 I know and the engine is from Viper anyway
Make a viper venom it’s the viper demon basically supercharged v10
Final a guy who explained the chrysler and lamborghini relationship in the viper v10 development correctly
Looking to buy a Gen V here in the next year or two. It was my dream car in childhood.
The Viper is one of the coolest cars ever made 😎
I loved the Yellowstone reference!
Crazy considering people are paying up to 100k for challengers and chargers
Ikr, imagine the monster you could build with 100k and a roller.
I love my Viper! “Easy to drive” Only 😺’s want a Vette. The Gen-V viper is easy to drive fast if you don’t suck at driving. Viper and Demon, might be brothers, but we know what one is loved more. More videos are still made about the viper than any other SRT models.
Good video, was fun to watch.
i want them all.... i'm greedy.
Vettes aren’t for pussies but you own a viper, I’ll allow it…
Nobody else can get away with that statement since owning a viper is the equivalent to living in Australia. It wants you dead but you rise above 😂
Posi-traction is a trademarked General Motors name. Chrysler Corporation's name for a limited slip differential is Sure Grip.
I always thought not putting a hemi in the Viper was its downfall.
The massive V10 was what made the Viper a good portion of what it was
The Viper is one of the best design cars if all time and am a JDM car freak ..
Now you see a Challenger everywhere... I bet the Viper is making a comeback... lets hope they stick with the style of the Gen 2 Gts
Fave car of all time greetings from dodge tampa
