That little corner of her eye smile she gives right at the very very end of this video is priceless! I will never be as good at anything in my LIFE as she is at what she does. WOW.
I find myself watching this over and over. I'm not sure I'm using the correct musical terminology but when the music comes back to the tonic, and she and the audience sense that glorious resolution and you see her pouring every erg of passion, determination and joy into it.... Wow, that's the power of music! Love you Annie!
I have heard the Orange Blossom Special played many times, but that young lady ranks right up there with some of the best renditions of it that I have ever heard!! Well done, Annie.
You know I've been watching this video and he playing Orange blossom special since she came out with it and I've probably watched it the thousand times since normal Rock and roller 100% but this girl Annie has literally caused me to start loving other types of music Joey Los Angeles CA
The years, months, and days of practice that went into this all show on her face when the audience recognizes what she's playing. Her smile is infectious. Good for her.
Annie is freakin' adorable. One of the most awesome fiddlers of her generation, and an amazing performer. If you ever get the chance to see her play in person with Kathy Kallick Band or any of her projects, don't miss it! This video is great, but doesn't even touch what it's like to see her live!
Young lady can stroke that fiddle. Amazing when you see someone play so well that your heart races and you feel emotion. It was a privilege watching you play Annie.
I am in the UK but really love this kind of music and keep coming back to this video. The young lady exudes talent and helps me forget about the pandemic and what it has done. Annie you are one mean violinist. This always puts a smile on my dial!!!
That was freaking awesome!! I love seeing someone challenging themselves to play a tune, especially one as aggressive as this, harder than they thought they could, and pushing herself to really nail it, and she did.
this is an example of what it means to be human...the music is literally flowing out of her body into the world for all to enjoy...we are the only species on the planet that can do this...I get a little emotional every time I watch this...go Annie go!
Bill P I couldn't agree more, her face was so animated and lovely, not something I'll soon forget, not to mention her incredible skill. She's a class act in a league of her own.
That's the best performance i have have ever seen! Congratulations to all musicians. That's beautiful because of its simplicity, cheerfulness, harmony and so nice sounds. That's very pleasant to watch it any and every time I see this performance. Her feet "floating in the air" shows she plays with Body & Soul. Bravo!!
If she grew up in China, they are taught perfection from a young age. They are also taught to honor their parents and grandparents. Really, not for show.
There's not an as written orange blossom special. It's a breakdown. An ad lib show piece open to interpretation. She just did a short version very well. Her bow control is absolutely amazing as is her fingering and intonation. I'd like to hear something like lady be good to have some examples of her ability to play swing jazz and free inturpurtation and vibrato technic.
It’s actually more impressive for someone who’s so classically-trained to get the feeling and the vibe of the tune, beyond just what’s written… that’s one of the biggest hurdles for some classical musicians. I play 100% Irish, country, bluegrass, Norwegian and Scottish fiddle, and you wouldn’t believe the arguments I’ve had with classical violinists in school, good GOD. The ones who were ignorant and wanted to remain that way, at least…they’d play some fiddle tune based off of the sheet music, but completely devoid of life, just staccato, and a bland rhythm. The concept of making it your own didn’t occur to these people… obviously that’s not the case here.
@@michaelshultz2540 you are correct. Orange Blossom Special is not a show of technical ability. I love the song played on electric fiddle and harmonica.
The first time I heard that, it was played by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs in Nashville. Thank you for a little taste of home I had thought lost. I needed that more than you can imagine.
So Nice to see Annie, John, and Larry on the tube! And, I tried to count how may bow strokes she does in a minute, but it made my brain fry! Annie's a great teacher, too! I've been in her classes at Walker Creek Music Camp in Marin County, CA, and the California Bluegrass Music Camp in Grass valley. Wonderful people as well as great musicians!
She is great!!! You actually need a split screen to be able to watch her feet as she comes up on her toes putting her entire self into playing this very challenging song. She is beautiful, and plays full on...her face and upper torso show the intensity of what she is putting into her playing...You can surely call this a total performance. Go Annie...
I love that song, you play so well. I first heard this from Roy Clark. He was a great artist and comedian. He played the violin, guitar, banjo, trombone, and piano, miss that guy. RIP
Excellent song! Watching the performer go from smiling to serious to can't help smiling when the guy yelled was pretty funny. I love when musicians totally get into the music to the point their whole body gets moving. Good stuff.
Amazing!!! I love to see a musician play like their on fire and smile while doing it!! Thank you young lady,, you are just amazing !!! I believe I have another hero!! 👍. You are blessed,,,,
Now there are HERO fiddle players???? Where will it all end with all this stupid hero worship? They are just humans like you and me but have a different tallent.
Jerry Jocoy: I believe you have summed the young lady's talent up pretty well. John Smith: (not his real name) who burned your grits and put salt in your milk. Lighten up. Jerry was just complementing the young Lady. Just because you might have made a different comment doesn't give you the right to be a grumpy guts. You could not even tail tag your comment with something nice to say about the musicians. Maybe you might roll out on the other side of the bed tomorrow and it will be a better day for you. It does not cost you anything to smile and pay a complement rather than to just be an antagonist to everyone around you.
Wow!Wow! WowI I second the previous comment about being made a national treasure! This young lass exudes joy in her expressions and performance and is a brilliant player moreover!!!!!!!!!
Outstanding... I know people that play the fiddle...I also know people that think they can play the fiddle...But this young lady can play a fiddle just outstanding
Annie Staninec is just absolutely fantastic !!! wowoowow I just happen to stumble on to this recording and I am so glad I did thanks for posting it and tell the young lady she is incredible !!!!!
Fantastic job rippin' thru the Orange Blossom Special. Our stumpf fiddle band has always enjoyed playing to this song, but your rendition is amazing. I can't imagine the many hours spent playing this song it would take, to nail it like you did. Once again, Great job Annie!
Annie, Puts fire on that bow and put chills up my arms with her fiddle palying perfection. You can't help but smile watching her beautiful facial expressions. Outstanding to say the least!
You are like me. Supposedly this was done about ten years ago. They say she's better now. Don't know how she could be much better at this. Even got invited, and accepted, to play a tour with Rod Stewart. Rod, at this point of his career, sure wouldn't want a "maybe" to tour with him. She plays the banjo, and the guitar. Yes. And teaches out West. I understand she a mixture of Chinese and Ukrainian . Good Mix.
@Ira Lee I’m not sure the term “hybrid” is appropriate for humans. Perhaps something hyphenated such as “Euro-Asian” is more accurate and acceptable? At least, that’s how we on the West Coast refer to the many thousands of children of mixed marriages here.
@Ira Lee Fair enough, sir. My comment, however, was a reaction to your use of "hybrid" in your above post of two months ago. My wife is Korean, my ancestry is German, English and Italian, so our kids are indeed Eurasian. Best Regards...
@Ira Lee Lol! My son is so smart (I'm bragging) we wonder what happened! He's also very musical, which he inherits from both of us. Our daughter is adopted, but is 1/4 Japanese, the rest European, and is likewise artistically talented, both musically and art-wise (she draws a lot). By the way, I have never heard our kids or any Eurasian kids referred to as "mongrels". If I did, I'm sure I'd punch that person in the mouth without hesitation lol.
When I was visiting my sister in Oslo I played this at a picnic. Those Norwegians loved it..glasses of Akvavit helped. Yee-haw! Thank-you Shel Bailey for uploading this..Love it!
There are dozens of renditions of this tune on You-Tube. I haven't heard one better. Even being live with a lot of background noise, the violin is crisp and clean.
To Annie , Young lady , please , NEVER STOP PLAYING ! You are incredible !
WHAT A DOLL !!! So GREAT to see young people carrying on an age old tradition and ENJOYING IT !! GOD BLESS HER !!
Still awesome 14 years later 😊
Annie was absolutely tearing that fiddle APART! I was tappin' the entire time. Best I've heard in my 55 years.
That little corner of her eye smile she gives right at the very very end of this video is priceless! I will never be as good at anything in my LIFE as she is at what she does. WOW.

She nearly ran that train off the TRACK!

Wow! This young lady's got what it takes! God bless her efforts.
The years, months, and days of practice that went into this all show on her face when the audience recognizes what she's playing. Her smile is infectious. Good for her.
It never gets old, watching this wonderful young lady playing the violin. Never gets old.
When folk music is played, its called a fiddle and not a violin. :)
First time seeing her and I was blown away. She was absolutely the best. And one of my favorite tunes. Very talented and pretty.
La meilleure version que je connaisse de cette belle 'toune' ,,, que j'écoute chaque fois que je vois le nom d'Annie Staninec... Salutations du Canada

Love you so much, Annie....this always inspires me! God bless you all! Love, Professor Robert "Bobby" Burns
Shy little Annie busting loose. She looks like a sweet little angel. She is amazing. Above average.

Fantastic!...Beautiful talented young lady. You cannot learn to play like this by walking around staring at your cell phone all day.
Have listened and enjoyed many of her performances after this one, she is simply fantastic, never misses a single beat!
That smile and her facial expressions are almost as enjoyable to watch as listening to the music she is playing!
Her enjoyment is infectious!
Ain't nothin' better than a pretty girl playing a fiddle.
They don't all seem as happy as Annie.
Bill P I couldn't agree more, her face was so animated and lovely, not something I'll soon forget, not to mention her incredible skill. She's a class act in a league of her own.
Unbelievable Technique!
That is how simple joy gets Love what you hear and love what you see.
That was utterly awesome. You just about caught that fiddle on fire. Wow what playing. We enjoyed that very much. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️
Annie, you've got such a beautiful energy…
Please keep on going with your music : we need it.
She puts her heart, sole and entire body into her music, Utterly fantastic.

I’m speechless. That is beyond impressive
As a Southerner in the USA, May I say the music was Great. And the young lady way above average.
I can listen to this all day long. It`s amazing and I love it! Annie, you`re the Best!!!
Wow! She actually hit all the notes just like they're written. That's a real accomplishment! Seriously. Good job, Annie.

Phew.... I got tired just watching. Gorgeous girl. She puts everything into it.
I had the pleasure of seeing Annie and performing with several of her band mates in Woodland, CA, over 10 years ago. She is an awesome fiddle player!#
Excellent song! Watching the performer go from smiling to serious to can't help smiling when the guy yelled was pretty funny. I love when musicians totally get into the music to the point their whole body gets moving. Good stuff.
I replied to a guy earlier, that right before she goes into passing gear, her expression changes just a little. ( I will get this right !)
Great job there Annie... Love that smile at the end too!!
That was an amazing violin playing, you are very talented!!!!!!!!!
Holy guacamole! Annie is a spectacular player! I'm looking forward to big things from you, girl. Thanx, very much, to Annie and to Shel.

I remember watching a very, very young man about 40 years ago play this in Branson...
Amazed... I have a pictorial memory...
There’s nothing more expressive that a properly played fiddle.
I love that piece and she just took it right through the roof. Better than excellent!!
This was an amazing performance! Fun, exciting and all together engaging. I LOVED IT! I'll be looking for more of Annie Staninec's videos.

OMG! OMG! OMG! She is a one of a kind. It's just pure fun watching her intensity....and that smile.. :)
Wow, she puts everything she's got into her fiddle playing.
Both musicianship and a lovely smile. 50% of stage presence is convincing the audience that you're enjoying what you're delivering. Go girl !!
Feelin it down to her toes! Excellant.
Tough act to follow. Great performance. "Love ya" even with your sandals ! A Genius wrote and composed that tune.
I love it when she dances to it nice to see someone get I to their music
Annie you are awesome i watch this video every day i work before i pack up my computer
This girl is an American National Treasure! Protect her at all cost.
To the people in the audience clapping loudly, out of time. Stop that, we can hear you on the stage. 😉
Absolutely excellent piece of work young lady.
