The south is all traditional Irish and Scott's that came over and migrated through the mountains and hills to be un seen. Thats where the word hill Billy came from. Almost every Confederate soldier during the Civil War had ties to Scotland and Ireland. They even had Scottish and Irish regiments and battalions in the war. So not just Irish. Look up the documentary who put the Klan in klux. Its on prime. It shows how almost all of the southern in America came from Scotland and Ireland.
I don't always listen to music performed at such a rare, high talent level, but when I do, it's usually Rhonda Vincent and the Rage! Stay thirsty for Rhonda Vincent Bluegrass, my friend. It's good for the soul.
I am so glad I got to see her with my father while he was still in this world. I never much liked bluegrass until I went live and felt the Soul of it through these musicians. The truly bring it alive.
If your foot isn't moving with the best to this, and you're not absolutely blown away by the talent of everyone on stage, then you're not even human. Lol
being an avid listener to orange blossom special being performed by 4 violinists at the same time...i think its fantastically done...n i still search for anyone out there who can out perform them to no avail...in my humble search wide opinion..they are the best
I also love how proud everyone on stage is of the others. When the girl with dark brown hair was doing her solo bit, everyone had big smiles and she loved it. Bluegrass is something special. The talent, the family even throughout different bands is something we can all learn from.
OBS is one of the best songs ever created for open-ended, pull-out-all-the-stops improvisation. There are literally infinite ways to riff on it and it's still always instantly recognizable. Best of all, it's as much fun to listen to as it is to play. This was pure joy!
Talk about fire on the strings and lightning on the bow! This is bluegrass at its very best. Rhonda and everyone up on that stage has the traditional bluegrass running though their veins and when the audience rises to their feet that is all the proof you need that this group is the real deal. This has got to be the best fiddle playing I've heard in my life so far! And I'm not exaggerating! So many immensely talented fiddle masters on the stage at one time, playing one of my all time favorite pieces, just keep 'em coming 😎
I have been listening to a lot of Carmignola (Italian Violinist/late Vivaldi Concertos) for sometime. But I always like to mix things up musically. Blue Grass violin/acoustic string instruments absolutely compliment and reflect Baroque/Classical violin/acoustic instruments. Rhonda and the Rage are fantastic musicians and are so artistically gifted!
If Rhonda and the RAGE ever played near a cemetery, the DEAD would rise up and start dancing! Fantastic, amazing, wonderful, and the whole group had wonderful smiles plastered on their mugs...….

Every time I watch this I get chills. These folks can flat out play and there is no music like it left any longer. Real music done in person without the use of studio assistance. (Classical music is right there with it. I got to see Joshua Bell perform Vivaldi's Four Seasons in Portland OR in the early 2000's. Incredible and he and the orchestra just played, no help from the "booth"). Real musicians like these are becoming fewer and farther between. Another awesome video is Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver "Through the Years" where he brings back quite a few of his old band members to perform a concert. Incredible talent and a great, great show. Worth watching.....Bluegrass, the best music in the world!!!

The fiddlers were other-worldly but the banjo, guitar and bass were the foundation that held the whole thing together and took it to a higher level.

I've listened to at least a dozen versions of Orange Blossom Special on TH-cam, and this is definitely my favorite.
Best one is Kyle Dillingham & Horseshoe Road (in an non-crappy youtube vid - live instead), but this one is very good

All amazing fiddlers in their own right, but put all five of them together, and it's astounding. Amazingly tight playing in there at the end.

I'm into Rock n Roll for the most part however this is an exceptionally talented group of fiddle players , I can't help but enjoy and appreciate them.

This fiddling came out of the Irish traditions. Many in the back hills are of Irish and Scottish descent. They just bumped it up to make it their own.
