I was a Dodge Ram guy with my last truck. I've always just liked how they look, that signature mean looking grill. And I test drove some new ones and I will definitely say they are fast with a smooth ride. But there's just some things about them that I'm not a huge fan of, at least as far as the 1500s go. All the heavy duty trucks are still awesome but I can't justify buying one So this time around I went Ford. I got into Lariat but I went with the V8 Coyote. It's hard not to use sport mode lol. It might be lacking in horsepower compared to that RAM but man it can still take off quick for a big truck and it is fun hearing that engine growl. But overall I am super impressed with the vehicle. I think it rides more than smooth enough compared to what I'm used to and it definitely felt different than the XLT I tried out. And even that felt pretty good These days I don't really think you'll regret picking any of these trucks.

I removed the raptor grill lights because they were problematic and annoying. I removed the cold air intake because it was useless bullshit. I just bought a Ram 1500 Tradesman. Got one of the last ‘24s left and it was an absolutely smoking deal. This is my first truck and I’m already a Ram guy. Such a comfortable truck to drive and a ton of space for the kids in the back seat (got the crew cab).
@ ah, that sucks you got a lemon. I love the idea of a half ton diesel (considered an ecodiesel myself) but I just didn’t have confidence in the reliability with all those emissions systems that seem to make the engines fail.

I have a 2022 F150 Powerboost lariat with the long box for towing our 24’ Travel Trailer over the Western Canadian Rocky mountains. Absolutely love this truck! Handles the steep mountain slopes very well. We run the air conditioner with the on board generator however have never figured out how to maximize the full 7.2 kilowatts as the trailer has 30amps.
There is also a recall on your tailgate because water gets in your tailgate and opens the tailgate automatically they're fixed for this is the unhook the button inside the cab so that you can't open it from inside the cab. That does not solve the problem
I'm with you guys, the F-150 all the way! I I think it has the best balance overall and I especially like the power outlets in the bed, you really can't beat that. Although it would be nice with the Coyote engine as well
Next time do all 4 brands fully loaded with their highest trim except for block heater. I would pick tungsten fully loaded with its body style and just add from other brands. Give me the ford outlets, weight system of your load, function of automatic running boards, and under seat storage. Now GMC give me supercruise, it’s rear bumper, and the back seat lower back storage. The only thing I wanted from Toyota was reliability, but that is not possible now.😢
It is certainly fair when it’s an $80,000 Lariat. That’s *Denali* price range. They _tried_ to help Ford’s case by opting out of mentioning/comparing price. Now you’re in the comments pushing the issue lol
Well the lariat starts at $65k and is well equipped already and yes you can get a higher trim f150 for around the gmc and ram $$$ however at the price point of the Lariat your better off with the Ford Because apples to apples the GMC Sierra SLT would be its competition and it isn’t as sexy. Nutshell-The Denali is more expensive than the Lariat. But it’s not crazy expensive considering the two and you can definitely option up an f150 way more if you wanted.
Not having a dip stick leads to the oil change tech. having to enter you truck to dbl check the level. Odds of dirt and oil entering your interior is great.
3.5 years in on my 2021 F150 Lariat with the 2.7. Best truck I've owned. Towing 5000 lbs through the Canadian Rockies and it just loafs along. Never once have I needed full throttle on even the steepest grades. A hoot to pull out and easily pass minivans uphill while towing on those mountain passes. Did order the highest numerical rear end ratio which seems to benefit towing with no gas mileage penalty. Calgary to Vancouver without the trailer saw 32mpg imperial. Super quiet and smooth. I have the 18" wheels with factory ordered LT tires. On mine the USB can also be used to play music on the 18 speaker 1080 watt B&O Unleashed sound system. A big reason for going with the F150 is living in a road salt area, it's the one that won't rust . Shocked at some recent RAM and slightly older GM trucks with horrendous rust. Those guys probably still owe big bucks and the premature rust would kill the value.
That GMC Sierra welcome animation is neck and neck with the Cadillac Escalade. That is absolutely gorgeous and a really nice way to welcome the driver to the cabin. I love that touch, I see other manufacturers beginning to do less intricate versions of this now too.
Great video. However, the sticker on the GM match the same for everything on our 2013 GM Crew Cab 1500 work truck. Thought it would be more for a newer model since a lot of mid-sized pickup have the same numbers.
Nathen Ford has adaptive suspension in the King Ranch and Platinum for a better ride, you cannot comparing a mid grade truck on ride is a little unfair to the top range of the other brands. You can also get bigger beds in both the Chevy and Ford too. Like the review it would have been better if Ford had sent you the Platinum or Platinum plus.
I work at a high volume trailer store in the upper midwest, and I am seeing a lot more GM trucks over Ford or Ram trucks coming in buying our trailers. These are trailers weighing 400 lbs to 5000 lbs. as a reference….
I am really hoping the hurricane isn’t a bust. It is such a cool power plant, and if the world is truly going away from v8s due to EPA restrictions, a TTI6 motor would definitely be what I would settle on in the future
I have a 05 Dodge 3500 4x4 4 door cab long bed dullay that handles like a race car that’s why I love my dullay one road hugging beast just try to keep up with one !!
Love the video. I wish you guys would talk about the the tech problems(like the Fords with all the updates you have to do and the Rams air ride sometimes sticking and both trucks that will just kill power in the middle of nowhere) not saying they all do those things, all the time but which do you think will be more reliable etc.
I own a 23 Platinum, 24 Raptor and 23 Tremor (all F150s) and the Tremor rides amazing and is my favorite trim level if I only had 1 truck. The tremor is smoother than the Platinum
That's crazy but I believe it if you have both. I have a '21 Platinum and had been interested in a Tremor as well for our second vehicle. I may have to take one for a spin and see how it feels.
1969 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 390 engine with 4 speed manual Farm Ranch Special and I took the 360 motor in it and a old friend of mine he was a machinists at Roth automotive and back in those days every parts store had a machine shop now days no body has a machine shop. Now days the machine shop is only that and I miss all the machine shops in every auto parts store .
The greatest up grade for my 1969 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 I found a state patrol car was a 428 with all the hid rod mods and that truck to one bad ass 1968 Fird 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 4 speed manual and with a 351 Windsor bell housing mated that 428 with the 4 speed manual one bad as truck with a black shaker hood like I said it was a bad ass truck !!!!
I’m actually shopping for a new truck right now. But something more simple, I don’t need a luxury truck. I’m interested in a Ram 1500 BigHorn, a Chevy Silverado 150 RST Z71 or a Ford F150 XLT.
Lol. The GEN3/GEN4 Coyote in the F150 blows the L86/L87 GEN5 6.2L out of the water in the 1/2 tons. The 6.2's aren't close to being as easy, cheap, rewarding, or potent to mod as the 18+ 5L trucks. If you want to argue a 6.2L with a ported head, and aftermarket cam setup, then okay then it could compete in the N/A arena, but do you really want to buy a $70K+ dollar crewcab truck to then spend probably between $6K-$7K in getting the heads ported, getting a big aftermarket cam, a DOD delete kit, and the supporting fuel system, and exhaust mods that would be needed to run with a tuned on E85/bolton, 5L truck? For that $ you can get add a blower to the 5L and put down more power than a stock L87 will safely handle. And yes I own both a 3.5L/10R80 truck (wifey's truck) and a 5L/10R80 truck, but I also used to own a 19 Camaro 1SS 1LE, and understand the GEN5 SBC pretty well. I would still own that car, but a semi ran into me and it was totaled out.
Now I believe the F150 Platinum gets continuously adaptive suspension, I forget what they call it but it’s like the GMC/Chev suspension that does the same thing. Constant 2ms adjustment. So the F150 in this video didn’t have that. Regardless even with it, I agree it’s still a bit more stiff feeling in the rear. I will admit though I may be misremembering, and that’s only available on the Platinum Plus. I hope that’s not the case.
Well I bought one. Turns out continuous damping is on the Platinum as well. It is in fact softer than I expected, in a good way and there is a great deal of difference between modes. Sport is much more firm and controlled than Normal mode (for instance) and is a joy to drive. Normal is fantastic for highway cruising or around town. Other modes offer differences in feel but Normal and Sport offer the most obvious difference. Interestingly, of all of the vehicles I have owned or driven that have adaptive suspension, including AMG Mercedes, the Continuous Damping by Ford offered the greatest difference in feel between modes. I believe one reason for that is the range of travel a truck suspension has vs a passenger car. It allows for a longer suspension stroke which allows you to really feel the differences between said modes. Well worth it IMHO. The controlled and comfortable ride is fantastic.
Ford is the last American truck manufacturer. Every Ford F150 is built in US. GMC / Chevy crew cabs and engines are made in Silao, Mexico. So every crew cab Sierra and Silverado is built by Mexicans. GMC gets to sell trucks for a premium, even though they pay cheap labor.
Not apples to apples... ford platinum or king ranch... seats are super nice.. agreed on gmc seats it's what keeps me away from it.. also I Ram I can't get passed the vertical iPad otherwise I'd seriously consider one
Have had all three brands in last 10 years. After all that if I were buying a new truck today it would be the F150 hands down. I am basing that on everything but especially mechanical problems. My F150 spent much less time in shop, actually no real time in shop. One computer reflash. Ram had rear end problems and both had electrical issues and the GMC leaked around moonroof and computer left me stranded three times before the dealer would replace it. I am not tied to any brand but Ford just makes a better truck.
The GMC rim looks like a hostage note cut out of characters from news paper and magazines and glued together with a glue stick by my little nephew. Busy busy.
You mentioned that Ford has refined the Hybrid for 2024, or at least it seemed implied, however you didn’t get into what refinements those were. Can you expand on that?
The Perfect truck for me would be the FORD Power boost but with the 3.0L diesel ⛽ not the 3.5 Ecoboost. It may not be as fast but the reliability and longevity of the diesel runs circles around the maybe not so reliable Echo boost gas.
Serious question. I subscribe to several different car channels and have watched many different car shows on tv over the years. Why does everyone always do comparisons on top-of-line models and not the middle of the road “normal everyday” models that the average truck buyer is actually looking for?
The people who want low spec or middle of the road models are in a minority these days. Trucks are not what they once we're nor is the demographic that buys them. Fact is, most truck buyers these days want top end models so they can use it as a luxury family vehicle.
@@TFLtalk now, while I understand that, and maybe it’s just the area of the country I live in (Southeastern US), in my observation, the vast majority of truck owners drive and buy middle of the road models. I live about 30 miles outside a very affluent city in a pretty affluent area and while there are some top of the line models, most are middle of the road, working man trucks.
Generally most drivers tend to drive 5 to 10 miles over the speed limit in most vehicles so they really don't care about exact mpg it seems unless they are forced to drive the speed limit in case of employment
Selling his Powerboost was a good business decision (he made more money by producing videos on a new first year truck), but a terrible quality of life and personal decision as that Powerboost was perfect for his needs and offered at a price he will never get close to again.
Where does Stellantis quality, materials, or attention to detail surpass that of *gm?* Thats not true in any segment including this one. The D. Ultimate is the only truck with laser etched topographical maps of the mountain the truck’s trim is named after. GMC is the only one with engravings in the actual leathers and decorated real metal trim too. The same topographical maps are in the Sierra’s welcome animation that includes both displays. Where does the RAM have more attention to detail? Lol
I’m opposite of most truck shoppers, I don’t care for all the do dads and shiny trinkets. When I’m buying a truck I’m buying a tool for a purpose not a fashion accessory to match my wife’s purse.
Why do trucks have to be a tool for a purpose? I’m a tradesman and when I hear that It makes no sense to me. With that logic buying a Porsche GT3 means you must be a race car driver that tracks it daily. Or buying a jeep wrangler means you must be an off road enthusiast. Come on man!
I like your comment… it’s funny…. But you are correct…. I f want a luxury ride… I buy a car…. If I want something to carry my s$&t, hunt and fish… I buy a truck.
Do the super duties have cylinder deactivation? I’m already thinking what my next traditional truck will be after I am ready to upgrade from my 23 Titan.
@Bruhwhatthehellbruh both GM and Ford have cylinder deactivation in 3/4 ton and up gas engines Ford started it with the 7.3 but not the 6.2 and GM first yr is the 6.6 gas.
Ram has had the smoothest ride and nicest interior since 2019 but the new 6 cylinder is a big disappointment. No serious truck buyer would consider a Tundra to begin with so it wasn't needed for this.
I agree on new Tundras. Co worker bought one 8 months ago and it’s just not refined at all. Cheap plastic everywhere and it looks like his is going to have to have engine replaced. Very rough shifting transmission to. He wants to trade it on a new F150 but dealers don’t want it knowing engine is going bad, he is stuck and not a happy camper. Toyota use to be unbeatable but those days are gone.
I’m a Ford guy. I recently drove my son in law’s 2023 GMC 1500 with the 3.0 diesel. I drove over 5k, Fairbanks Alaska to Kentucky. That drivetrain absolutely blew me away. I wonder if it would smoke a 5.3 0-60. Not on the top end though. I’m t was quiet, smooth and the fuel mileage was unbelievable. If I bought a new truck, it just might steal me away from Ford.
My dream truck is a CYBRTRK,,Beast if possible ., yeah it looks like an Origami , but that's part of life with the best truck that breaks all the norms, it also outsold the Ford Lightning this Qtr.and will outsell all BEVs from legacy auto and Rivian for 2024,Yes " Ugly" sells.
I always look forward to your tests, but to compare the Ram & GMC to Fords hybrids systm is not fair. I know it is hard to get all 3 the same, but at least get the same tires , the same axel ratios Etc, close to the same price. That would make for a more apples to apples test. I watched another youtube chanell. This guy had 4 fords, & posted all there epa mileage, Then took each truck & drove each one on the same loop & then posted the real mieage compared to the EPA. Very interesting. That is what i want to see..
the ford with the 5.0 is the only one i'd buy . if you want the most powerful V8 (most reliable) with the other 2 brands you need to spend $63k+ to option for it . ford will give it on second trim level
Not a Fan of the Ram for various reasons. The Ford I think is the most American since all their trucks are assembled in America unlike GM trucks. But I do like the 6.2l in the GMC.
The Ram truck is no longer an American brand but instead a foreign truck(European but built in America), like the Toyota, Nissan, and Honda(Japanese but built in America), and it should be treated as such.
GM is making another V8. I'd be surprised of there isn't a hybrid V8 truck when it comes out. I'll be surprised if you can get it without being hybrid.
My 2003 Tundra has a quarter million miles, I paid it off 17 years ago, and it still runs great. V6 SR5 2 Wheel Dr. it never has broken down or stalled. The only thing I have replaced is the back wheel bearings after looking at new truck prices I am considering having the engine and transmission rebuilt Along with the shocks/struts, control, arms, etc. for $15,000 or whatever it costs, and have truck last me another 20 years. Everything is original, the transmission has never been opened neither the radiator power steering fluid differential fluid, it’s all factory, and the truck still runs great without any problems whatsoever. I think it was just a fluke that I purchased the complete opposite of a lemon. I change the oil every October, once a year with full synthetic, and mobile one filter. Most of these new trucks have buyers who don’t use a pick up truck for what a pick up truck should be used for, hence the 5 foot beds abound. I am electrician, so I don’t need to place a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood in the back, however, I do use ladders 8 feet and under all the time so a 6 foot bed will suffice. I simply cannot stomach blowing a good portion of my life savings on a 75-90k truck or financing one for $1400 a month. in my opinion, insane. Look at the prices for the Ford or dodge, etc. what planet are they from? Do they think everyone makes $200,000 a year?
Okay, I give up. What is the most reliable half ton pickup engine/transmission in 2024? Say lower trim, under $55k? ($ is crazy now) I’m thinking the 2.7 in the Ford…..???
I like the Ford hybrid system but their prices are just insane and the Ford chime is the most annoying sound in any vehicle. Not to mention all of the recent issues they're having. If I were looking for a half ton the Silverado LT with any of the drivetrains but preferably the BabyMax is the best value these days. As much as I like an inline 6 RAMs prices are insane for their low capability.
I just purchased a 2018 Honda Odyssey EX-L for my wife for $25,000 and that was borderline affordable, I cant fathom financing a $60/$70/$80 truck or suv..
It always confuses me why the sunroofs are not coated with a clear 100% UV and IR reflective layer; that would let in all the visible light, while protecting the interior from sun damage and keeping out nearly all of the heat.
They just didn’t want A TOYOTA to lock up the motor up on film lol lol 😂😂

I just bought a Ram 1500 Tradesman. Got one of the last ‘24s left and it was an absolutely smoking deal. This is my first truck and I’m already a Ram guy. Such a comfortable truck to drive and a ton of space for the kids in the back seat (got the crew cab).
The tradesman is a nice truck! I have a 2022 Silverado RST with the diesel and I want to switch to a ram once my lemon law case settles. lol.
@ ah, that sucks you got a lemon. I love the idea of a half ton diesel (considered an ecodiesel myself) but I just didn’t have confidence in the reliability with all those emissions systems that seem to make the engines fail.
$88,000 for a 1/2 ton??????? When did pickup trucks become a rich guy status symbol? These will never be used as trucks.
Why not? I use mine as a truck everyday. And I definitely didn’t pay $88k.
Nothing wrong with that, more sales means better products for everyone.
I see your point was made!

1150 lb payload from the ram is LAUGHABLE. 10% tongue weight on a 8k trailer - 800 lbs so you can haul 1.5 people.
It gets even lower than that with a fully loaded Tungsten. Like 930.

My Titan has 2300, and front bebch seat. I take that over all these useless electric features. Why do i need a scale if i don't have payload? I guess to se how much weight have i gained.
The only thing I wanted from Toyota was reliability, but that is not possible now.😢
Have ‘23 Lariat Powerboost and it is the best truck I have ever had. Utility is 150%!
Ford with 34 open recalls at the moment. No thanks.
That f150 is my dream truck but I prefer the long bed with an xlt trim. I hate leather and sunroofs in Florida.
Is it fair when you compare a Lariat (F-150) to two top trims in the form of the GMC Sierra Denali, and a RAM Limited? 🤔
I guess so. Dealers are asking $62k for a new 2024 Denali with $75k sticker. Not sure how much they want for the new 25 ram though
The idea was comparing best of the best, not dollar for dollar. Throw a limited trim F150 in there and it’s over.
I like GMC front end but I like Ford box shape and on board power in the bed. Love the Ram interior..
Good information as always and you guys helped me out to make my decision to buy The 2024 Tremor with the V8 5.0 Coyote engine . Thanks .
Cadillac is owned by gm so its obvious why they are the same…
@@PlaneButcher they’re not the same welcome animations, I’m just saying they’re both impressive.
Great video. However, the sticker on the GM match the same for everything on our 2013 GM Crew Cab 1500 work truck. Thought it would be more for a newer model since a lot of mid-sized pickup have the same numbers.
Yeah the lariat is like the equivalent to an SLT GMC. 2 more trims above a lariat.
The Lariat’s *price* at $80k is equivalent to a Denali though. Lol
Nathan struggles to hide his bias
I work at a high volume trailer store in the upper midwest, and I am seeing a lot more GM trucks over Ford or Ram trucks coming in buying our trailers. These are trailers weighing 400 lbs to 5000 lbs. as a reference….

Sierra Denali is beautiful. My choice all of the way - best riding/looking, tech, V8. Easiest decision ever.
That V8 has tons of problems.

Horseshit. The Tundra is built in America.
Have to appreciate GMC for still offering a v8. In the past, i was least interested in sierras but now theyve become much more attractive.
Ford is to the f150 with the 5.0 coyote.
Busy busy.

No mention of the new active exhaust option on the 6.2? Guessing that Denalli had it
No replacement for displacement. 6.2 all the way, as long as they are avaliable.
The Perfect truck for me would be the FORD Power boost but with the 3.0L diesel ⛽ not the 3.5 Ecoboost. It may not be as fast but the reliability and longevity of the diesel runs circles around the maybe not so reliable Echo boost gas.
Bahaha! U obviously don't know much about that diesel. Stay away, it's junk!
Serious question. I subscribe to several different car channels and have watched many different car shows on tv over the years. Why does everyone always do comparisons on top-of-line models and not the middle of the road “normal everyday” models that the average truck buyer is actually looking for?
Serious answer, because people say they want to see reviews of affordable trucks but when we publish one….no one watches it. 🤔

Selling his Powerboost was a good business decision (he made more money by producing videos on a new first year truck), but a terrible quality of life and personal decision as that Powerboost was perfect for his needs and offered at a price he will never get close to again.
If it’s which is the most luxurious it’s the Ram period. The quality, materials and attention to detail far surpasses the others.
Lol

The F-150 should be a Platinum to be compared with the Denali and limited

Ram really has to do a redesign if they want that kind of money. Ford and GM will be 1a and 1b in my opinion
